:)Any Dawgs out there riding or even checking out the Lance Duke 250. I really like mine. Still breaking in but only problem is with mirrors which needed readjusting and tweaking. Runs great, good zip, decent handling, smooth ride and no problems from arrival except the mirrors. Did our homework-find Zhen to be a pretty reliable manufacturer. What do the Dawgs think? Hi news77,
I don't have the Duke, but I do have the vintage. I want to purchase the duke in about 3-months to use as a work commuter. Can you please keep us informed with the performance with your scoot. I do not see to many duke 250cc people on this forum and all info is something that I would really appreciate. I will be surprised if you have much serious problems,Znen does a pretty good job.
I see alot of scoots that seem simular (however) I don't know if they are made by Znen. I feel for the price I would feel much better with the Duke than the Rocketta or Tank. Even though I feel there is nothing wrong with buying one of those brands if you are aware of the issues that Might be regarding them. They can be a good deal if you can do the minor tinkering yourself. It's the service and parts issue that most concerns me.
So with all that said please keep us updated, and be safe, and enjoy your scoot.

Hey Russ, The 250 is pretty new in the Lance line I am told (maybe). We actually were steered away from Roketa (Bali) by the seller, ScootersFactory. They since have dropped the line altogether. S/F is fast on queries and parts. They stock a lot of stuff. So far, no real issues except reaiming the mirrors. Our mech is doing that this week. It came with a big, attractive trunk. It had a few cosmetic issues that I touched up. It's not an expensive trunk anyway. A bit of a vib problem with the trunk but me and some trusty sponge foam are working on that. It's a heavy machine and that gives a smooth ride for me, and I'm about 240 pounds. More to come...let me know what you think. Consider the Lance line for sure. There's been pretty good reaction here on the forum. Tom

Russ and the Dawgs, My mech has had the Duke for a week and has redone my mirrors. He redid the mounts for a better angle so I can get some view behind. Suppossed to get it back tomorrow so I'll let you know how it works out. Tom

The Duke is back and the mirror job went well. Raymond replaced the mounting on the handlebars and now I have more adjustment available and the view is great. Tom

Glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks the mirrors on the Lance are a little to low and not providing good what's behind you. Otherwise I now have 563KM on the bike and it is running good. Have to take it in and have the front brake system looked at. Seems to have a leak somewhere, and I can't find it myself. Thanks to all of you for the great advice early on.

Enjoy your ride. I am sure you will continue to enjoy the Lance. is it a 250? My wife got a GSR 150 and the mirrors are fine on that one.

Well folks been a while since I've been in here. The Lance is doing fine. Got 996Klm on her and still going grate. Ride it 10 miles each way to work(40 total) on nice days (no rain) and getting 45/50 mpg out of her. With the price of gas hitting 3.77 a gal I think I made a good choice in getting a scooter, beats the heck our of 16mpg on my truck. Had to get the mirrors redone with some mods so I could see what was behind me but now all is good. With summer around the corner more riding to be done.

I found the best solution with shoddy mirrors was to REPLACE them!! ;d Found some at Heeters with 10" stems that really let one see a lot better field of view. They are high quality, two lock nuts at the base and the mirror itself can be positioned in all manner of ways. I think they are the best thing I have done for my scooter, and more than worth the cost...

rerun2, ....your avitar shows a Honda Super90!! My first was one just like it in white w custom seat. I think it was about a 1962 model. There were also similar S65's with a high tailpipe. Really cute, & a bunch of fun.

mrgreenfield... yuppers she is a Honda s90, bought in 1967, that was a '66 hold over and I got it a good deal cheaper than the 'new model' which was the exact same bike! It was a ton of fun, and fast for its displacement... I sadly traded it for what turned out to be the worst Honda ever built! (IMHO) ;d

found the electrical problem i was having! it was the cell phone icon antenna wire. its a pink wire hanging from up under the dash. it has a bare end with exposed wire. so take a word from the wise, if you have that icon on your dash, open it up and tape/cap it off. finally got a chance to ride it though, and i love it! it has alot of pep & its a real head turner as well. everything works like its supposed to, but like everybody else, the mirrors are a point of contection for me.

Anyone have tips/pics on how to replace the mountings on the handlebars to fix the mirror problem? Woot woot, I just replaced my oil on my Lance 250. This is from a guy that has maybe changed his own oil on his car once in his life. Although it took me an hour, I think I can do it in a matter of 10 or 15 minutes next time. Next on the list is gear oil and coolant. Davidg, Are you talking about the squeek of the windshield? I was thinking of some rubber washers on each of the screws, you think that would work?

!!! Congrats!!! I have been watching your electrical issue with trepidation. I have a Lance Duke 250 on order from Bandit MotorSports and have been soaking in all the appropriate threads...Yours was an enigma... Glad to hear it was tracked and rectified! Also glad to hear everyone so pleased with their rides. Can't wait!!! Have a bone for perseverance...and success!! found the electrical problem i was having! it was the cell phone icon antenna wire. its a pink wire hanging from up under the dash. it has a bare end with exposed wire. so take a word from the wise, if you have that icon on your dash, open it up and tape/cap it off. finally got a chance to ride it though, and i love it! it has alot of pep & its a real head turner as well. everything works like its supposed to, but like everybody else, the mirrors are a point of contection for me.

... on the lance duke 250 .. unscrew everything again and take off the windshield and the Lance cover plate.
Now take a strip of one sided ( sticky on one side ) weather stripping that you can buy at an auto parts store , and put that all the way across the bottom of the windshield. Poke a hole through it to reveal the screw holes and screw that thing back on. Now do the same thing to the plastic Lance cover plate and screw it back on...
No more squeek. If you don't want to buy new mirrors and you STILL have sqeeking and moving around after you have done all you can do , take it apart and take out the electrical component. That is what is sqeeking. Put it back together without the electrical component and you will have no more noise from the mirror. If it is still moving around , take a slightly larger nut and add it to the extender that came to it and tighten it down with that attatched. That'll do it .

(that hangs from under your helmet, of course)

I,m sure glad to find this thread on the Lance Duke 250. I am considering buying one shortly. I am a bit concerned about the fuel mileage. It deems that could be better. I forgot to look at thr odometer to see if in miles or klicks. What really impresses me is the upholstery. It doesn't burn the buns when you sit on it. VERY important in this Texas heat. I am lucky to have a gealer within 20 niles of the house, and I have been in there a couple of times to pick the mechanics brains. He seems to be doing a great job of finding te quirks. Believe me, I don'y want to have to do it. I had enough of that 40 yrs. ago. I will be checking back to see how everyon is doing with theirs before purchasing. I also like the Pegasus, but need the extra pwr. of the 250.

Bought mine from Motor Toy shop and have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. It left me stranded several times before we took it in, starter was bad and have been waiting for over 10 days for Motor toy shop to send one out. They are nice enough about it, but then lie to us that it's been sent.

Howdy All, I just dropped in starting tonight and so far I am liking what I am seeing. I purchased my Lance Duke Touring 250 about a week ago and so far I am really liking it. It's going to be my primary commuter for work.. Gotta save some $$$ how. With Gas prices not looking to drop anytime in the near future I figure it will save me on wear and tear, not to mention gas costs on my new Pontiac G8 GT. So with that in mind I want to make sure I keep in touch with those who have the same scooter and hopefully catch anything that I can before it happens.
The only real issue I have noticed so far is that the headlights aren't very great. They only project about 40 feet in front of you. That's a problem for night driving. I noticed from the Owners manual that the bulbs shipped with the scooter were incorrect (12v25w/25w). The correct ones are supposed to be 12v35w35w. So now I'm on the hunt for the right bulb. I hopefully found one locally in town and will see what I can find out. If I find one and so forth. I'll be glad to pass on the information.

"One of the mirrors was cracked upon delivery, but they were quick to replace it. Doesn't matter much, the mirrors are useless for the average American height (I am 5'9" and the mirrors do not at all adjust high enough to see behind me). I will be replacing these with after market mirrors soon."
That's the impression I had, but...before replacing them... If you take off the handlebar cowling you can access the mirror bases. They're just clamped onto the handlebar and can be loosened and rotated toward the brake oil reservoirs. This pushes the mirrors away from the driver and raises the angle so taller folks can actually see behind the scoot and not just the ground behind the rear wheel. I'm 6'1" and it worked for me. It's an easy fix.

For the mirror issue on the Duke my left mirror was fine but my right all I would see was the ground so I took it off and took 1/2" pvc pipe made it about inch and half and on one side made 45 degree angle on it to make the mirror lean forward. And by the way unaggie is correct I notice two days ago my hand breaks where not level. But pvc pipe was easier fix for now but will probably this weekend fix the problem correctly this weekend. Throwing you a bone unaggie.

Just got a Duke this week. Will not start. 1st major obstacle looks to be no wiring to side stand/cutoff. There is an open gang connector colored black/white and green in the area. Can somebody take a look at their machine - maybe even snap a photo - to see what kind of sensor or module should be there, please? I have an e-mail in to Lance but don't expect a response since I'm not a dealer.

Got a reply from Lance but no info to keep me moving forward with diagnosing the situation. Local dealer - not who I bought from - is more than happy to keep me at arms length. Will wait for replies here and again from Lance to see what happens. Apparently this is what happens when you get caught in between as the manufacturer changes their method of distribution and warranty coverage.
