I'm hoping someone can help me locate a rear gear set for my Shenke mc54 250b scooter. I currently have it in the shop and I think my mechanic is getting impatient with me. I have tried all kinds of sites but have yet to find a company that sells the rear gears separately. Heeeelp Pleeeeeaaase!

Here's the closest I have found for free: bill.laudeman.com/helix/manual/index.htmlThe engine info is essentially the same as the 172MM. The 172 uses a standard CVT setup with 6 weights in the variator. It is similar to a 150cc setup. 66

Thanks, think it maybe the gearbox that is giving me grief, although when i looked everything in there looked brand new, and i replaced the cogs in the transfer box as they were damaged, so i thought that was the prob, could it be the clutch ? to give u some idea ................http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_mBrV_60RI

Welcome to SD, tomcsr. I'm surprised no one has tried to answer your question. My regulator/rectifier was defective from the factory on my YY250T. Measured less than 13.0 volts at the battery with the engine running. You should have at least 13.5 volts with the engine running. If you have a multimeter, you can check the connector with the yellow wires that attaches to the regulator. Measure the pin resistance of the connector that comes from the engine. You should read about .6 ohms between the pins. All pins should give the same results regardless of how you pair them. There should be no resistance reading between these pins and ground (engine or battery ground). This will determine if your stator is good. Make sure that the wires in the regulator connectors are crimped good and not loose in the connector. I ended up getting this regulator from eBay: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/250cc-Gokart-Voltage-Regulator-Rectifier-Go-Kart_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ180422589531QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesLess than $20 delivered and has been working good for a couple of weeks. Good to have as a spare even if your original regulator is good. I have seen these units go for as high as $160. The regulator is located just above the muffler under the fender cover on my scoot. It's the large heat sink device. 66

I have a Roketa 250 that has 1700 miles on it with the Linhai style engine and want to change the final drive gear oil. My manual states to use a SAE10w-30/SE oil. Isn't that just plain motor oil? I had planned on using a Synthetic 75/90 gear oil for this. What do you think is the correct product to use? Oh, by the way I just changed the engine oil & used Rotella T6 synthetic 5w-40 heavy duty oil. Would this same oil work in the final drive ? Thanks for your input!!!!!!

Hi bamaguy,
I'm using the 5W-40 Rotella synthetic in the engine and Mobil 1 synthetic 75/90 gear oil in the transmission in both my scoots. Using the 5W-40 in place of the recommended 10W-30 engine oil in the transmission would work good also because the synthetics have superior anti-shear characteristics.

At the beginning of this thread there were two Chinese 250cc engines mentioned. I had a dealer tell me that there is a new 3rd brand on the market. Is this one of the two mentioned earlier (and if so which), or is this the new brand on the market?

Just a different manufacturer. Could have some mods, but I doubt they are performance related if it does.

Anyone notice that the images are missing from the first couple of posts?
That makes identifying which engine you have tough.
Can anyone fix this?

Does anyone know what the 2 hose nipples on the left side of the carb (PD30J) are for?? It looks like there is suppose to be a hose of some sort connected to each. MC54 250B

It is used in cold climates to warm the carb. It is a water system that is rarely used on clones. The water is tapped from the radiator; the top is the intake and the bottom is the return. On 99.9% of Chinese scooters there is just a short looped piece of vac hose from one to the other.

Am looking at a 300cc scoot sold by "Empire Super Sports". This scoot is made by "Pacific Rim International Co." Anybody know anything about the distributor or the maker? This scoot looks as good as the Aeolus and cost much less. Any information would be most appreciated.

Check the fuse that's next to the battery for a poor connection., or even the battery connections.

Can anyone tell me which 250cc four-stroke air-cooled V-twin motor is used on the so-called "Road Warrior Trike Chopper" sold in the USA by "IceBear" and several other resellers? I have one on order, and will certainly be interested in performance mods, once the warranty has run out.
It would be nice to know which manufacturer actually makes these engines. I have been led to believe it may be LIFAN.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Hello, by reading on this board i found a lot info on scooters, but no one talks about repairing a head gasket, or the motor, i have recently discover that my Roketa 250 ccs has a blown head gasket and i don't know what to do, meaning engine replacement or repair the problem, can anybody provide me with info, suggestions or what my options are; my question is can the water cooler engine be replaced by a air cooler engine? i'll appreciated any info coming from you guys....Thank you!!!

The reason there is seldom talk about engine repair is because it's a Chinese engine. If it needs repairs, its time to replace the scooter. To begin with, Chinese engines are made of blended metals that are not as strong as other scooter engines (Japanese, Italian, & etc.). Even after repair, additional problems will adventually happen.
Sell the scoot for parts and try to get another scooter.
Unless the work can be done ch

I have a quick question for you guys. I've been taking auto classes for three years, so I'm fairly well versed as far as cars work. I'm a newbie to bikes and scooters. I bought a 2008 Jonway it has the 244cc CVT engine based on the Honda CN250 Helix. I'm planning on changing the oil this week... I just picked it up Saturday. So the oil I was going to get is Mobile 1 10w-40... is there a better quality oil to pick up? and do I need an oil filter? if so which one would the 244 cc engine take? Thank you in advance for any help and thoughts. I really appreciate having such a great forum at hand!

No oil filter is involved. 10w30 and 40 are popular choices for at least the break-in period, then (controversy) synthetic. More often than not I see people recommending synthetic after the break-in, but there are a few detractors to that.
