Is there any detail about the new Honda engine in 2011 models. Are there any changes? Does it have fuel injection. And while on the subject of engines, any detail about the 400cc engine. The scooters are not in the US but there have been talk and pictures all over the internet for over a year. I think it is a Jonway scooter.

I just bought a YY 250 Jonway. I've had it for about a week, came by semi. So far it started once, ran for about 30 seconds, then quit, it never started again, ran down the battery 3 times already, trying to get it started. It says you're supposed to prime the carb, but I don't see any way to prime it, no way to even get at it. I've got part of it torn apart now, trying to get to the carb. There was 2 batteries, one in it, that was dead, and unable to charge it with 1 amp charger, then a new one that I had to put together, it's ok but I've run it down 3 times already. It looks like it might have been sold once before, the guy couldn't get it started so he sent it back. Now I've got it, and it won't start. I guess I'll mess with it for a few more days, then the next stop for it will be the sledge hammer and the dumpster. I'm out about $1700 on it. It's a hard lesson, that chinese stuff is really just junk. The other thing about it is that it says it takes 0.9 liter of oil in the crankcase, I changed it, put in 0.9 litre of oil, it doesn't even register on the dip stick. I was wondering if it was really supposed to be 1.9 Litre of oil. Alot of that stuff in the owner's manual is really goofy. I was hoping just to buy a scooter, ride around a bit, maybe save on gas here and there, but it was not to be. $1700 would have bought me alot of gas. It's the 1st scooter I've owned, I guess the last, you might say I've never had a real scooter, at least one that ran.

They have them things set so Lean, get at the Fuel Ratio Screw and turn it out 2 1/2 turns that should be enough so the engine will run rather nicely and you can fine tune it after that. Also make sure the Butterfly is at least a little open not much just a little to expose the PILOT JET holes that feed it fuel. Lefty

Here's a question...are there, anywhere, places to get Japanese OEM engines to replace in clones?
Specifically, I have a new Xingyue XY300T...looks to be a Burgman 250 clone. Nothing wrong with it; but if, as and when...and especially if there are no parts (that engine is a new one for that scoot; it's the 260 that's been around a while with a new FI 297cc engine) and Xingyue disappears for whatever reason...it would be good to know where I could get a new or used engine that would be a near drop-in.
Silly? Maybe. But somehow I can't see tossing a stylish and CHEAP scoot for want of an engine part.

Anyone know if a manual has been produced yet for these "250" engines, or the trikes in general?

Hi folks, I'm a first time user, and would like to field a question. I own a Jmstar Bali250, which is manufactured by Jonway International. The model# is YY250T-2, 244cc. However, according to the website [http://www.jonway.com/service.asp] I have to have a business to get a copy of the manual. Just trying to determine for now whether I put the gear oil in the correct resevoir. I recognized the need to check it when I noticed a 2nd label on the opposite side of the bike which referred to using 15w40 weight oil for the engine. I put the gear oil (GL-4 when it calls for GL-3, all I could find) in the resevoir accessed from the left side [as seen from the front] and bottom of the crank case. Is that the right one? And where does the coolant go, it seems to be full but it always reads hot on the gauges after just a few minutes run time. Geeesh, I sure need that manual...Thanks!

Hi Scootard here: Take the filler cap off, lay the bike over on it's side, and let it drain at least 15-20 min. Refill with straight 30W run about 50mi, then dup it and put 15-40W. You should be ok.

From your description it is very hard to tell exactly where you ended up installing your gear lube, but it absolutely does not sound like the right place. Check out this link for the proper procedures: scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=250ccengineandtrannsmission&action=display&thread=21613And if you post your tech questions in the non-stickied area of the "250cc Scooters and up..." section you will usually get prompter responses. Scoot on, onilegion <><

Very informative thread. Just looked at the engine on my newly bought Roketa and it has the cylinder vertical, which I presume means it's the Honda design. The place I bought it from, though, says it's a Jonway engine, and even provided a link to a site with details on that engine. How does that fit into the Honda/Yamaha paradigm?

hey banditms thanks for the headsup i just purchased the roketa MC-79-250cc I was looking get a bigger engine; but my tires are 13" would the 257 cvt engine fit? Also I want to purchase the Rumble Road handlebar amplified speakers (each spkr contains an internal 100w amp) it needs a 12v 15amp system to push them. As the bike only has a 12v system, what can I do to get the 15amps? I need this rating for the speakers as well as a marine in-dash radio and a 100w marine sub-woffer HELP THE NEWBIEE!!! Bike should arrive on the 20th of Dec. email at wali_1957@live.com if u want
