Jack, I was about to start a new thread with my concern that I can not find any reference anywhere on the internet listing the Clutch/Varator for the 257cc Yamaha/Linhai engine. It seems that Roketa wants to sell you the complete engine/tranny assembly. I see you guys are looking at that already. Mine is not bad but I always like to be prepared. I will keep looking here to see if someone locates a source. A lot of the 250B are being sold, problems will arise.

Has anyone bought an ignition coil for the 250B? Doesn't appear that the Yamaha would be a match. Parts for Scooters doesn't have a coil for a 250cc.

I think the Iridium plug for the CFmoto engine should be either (NGK) DPR7EIX-9 or (Denso) X22EPR-U9IX22B. I bought the NGK 7544(CR7HIX) and the thread diameter is far too small. I have been researching and my MC54 (CF Moto) has the DR8EA plug in it whic cross references to the DR8EIX instead on whats listed above..I think the CR7HIX) may be for the 150cc engines. Someone confirm for me and i'll update the list.

Yup DR8EA is the normal plug to use on the Linah Clone engines. The Iriddium is the DR8EIX.
The ignition coild is a COP design using a spark plug wire instead of directly plugging onto the spark plug. So many ignition coil units will work, including the GY6 coils too. I don't see any reason against using a Honda Helix, Reflex or Yamaha or even Suzuki ignition coil unit. Some of the motorcycle coils would probably work too.
Yeah the variator and clutch is the next item to find for sale someplace. Unfortunately, the Yamaha belt for the Morpheous is a little wider and more thick, it has top and bottom link pegs on it. So I don't see the variator and clutch as fitting then. But since they use a lot of generic mix and match on parts with the scooters, there might be a possibility that the CF-Moto Honda clone engine's variator an clutch may fit OK. But I don't know.

well, it looks to me like the CFmoto motor used that same plug as the Linhai, judging by the plug that is in my scoot

According to the Honda Helix manual, the standard NGK plug should be: DPR6EA-9, "Cold climates" should have: DPR5EA-9, and for "extended high-speed riding": DPR7EA-9. All should be gapped to .031-.035 in. or .8 or .9 mm. Here's a Torch to Denso spark plug cross-reference chart: www.globaldenso.com/PLUG/cross_reference/1056_01.htmlI have a (Iridium)DPR7EIX-9 in mine. The NGK part # is 7803

But it is showing the Iridium equivilent to the DR8EA (and DR8EIX) as the IX24... So it looks like there may be a larger number of usable plugs, and also it looks like both the CFmoto and the Linhai motors can use the NGK DR8EIX Iridium plug. Can any more CFmoto engine MC54 owners check in with the brand and version of their stock sparkplug?

Headlight Bulbs for 250B types.I know I read of people looking for these, and I just got mine and confirmed wattage rating and form factor. My recent 250B came with 25w headlight bulbs so I was looking to upgrade ... in steps. I got 35w bulbs from Global Motor Imports - Item # 80002BM0T001 for $21.00 delivered. It's at www.gmimotorsports.com, a.k.a. www.PartsForChineseScooters.com, and Item #580. The 45w/40w bulbs arrived from www.partsforscooters.com at $15.78 delivered. Item #138-24. Haven't put either in, yet, as I'm still awaiting my paperwork! and want to ride some first, before I have to take off the darn front cowl, again.

Linhai engine? I believe you can get the drain plug from Yamaha.
Can someone chime in with the part number or bike for cross reference?

Sorry if I take this off in a different direction but here is an issue I would think is of concern to a lot of 250cc scoot owers and I can't find anything about it in any of the other forums. I recently bought a JCL MP250A. It looks like the Roketta MC 54B only with the 257cc 170MM engine instead of the 244cc cfmoto engine. I love it except for one thing. The ride is pretty harsh. The shocks (or the springs or both) are way too stiff. I feel every little bump in the road. It's not so bad going along at 40mph or less but as the speed goes up, well let's just say I hope I don't lose any fillings. So has anyone else noticed the same thing and has anyone found replacement shocks that are noticeably softer (but not bouncy). I'm wondering if there are some adjustable shocks that will fit. These are 14 1/2" long, 13 1/2" center to center on the bolts with u-shaped bracket at the bottom and a hole at the top.
Also wondered if anyone has replaced their tires with a larger size. Mine as 130/60 front and rear. I was thinking about replacing them with 130/70 in the front and 140/60 in the rear. That will give it about 1" larger diameter in the front (5% larger circumference which should make the speedo more acurate) and 1/2" in the rear (which should reduce rpm slightly and improve the ride). I'm pretty sure they will fit but I'm wondering if anyone has tried it and what difference they noticed or if they had any problems.
Thanks, Roland

madmanjustice, I don't think that Mikuni DF-44 vacuum fuel pump is going to be the best choice for our scoots as earlwb tested it and found it to be lacking in fuel dilivery for our application. A better choice is the Mikuni DF-52 which flows more than twice as much as the DF-44. I installed it on my 250B and it works great. rolandjjr, I too have found the ride on my 250B a little harsh. Stan at oregonvintage.com installed some adjustable OKO rear shock/springs on his Roadrunner racer project--but I'm not sure if they will fit our bikes. Drop him a line and see. If so, please let us know. I was also toying with the idea of larger tires for the same reasons you mentioned. It seems that the speedos on these bikes are off by about 10 mph at 60-70 mph. I'm not sure the taller tire will fit under the stock front fender, though. It might be possible to raise the fender somewhat but I haven't gotten that far, yet. If you try it, please report back to us. You can be the pioneer in this field Brian

briguy: Yeah, I've exchanged emails with Stan Jessup ovr at oregonvintage a couple of times. Very knowledgable guy. He carries almost all 244cc (cfmoto style). Amazed that no one has tried putting a little larger tires on. Lots of clearance in the rear except for that dang starter. The mud flap on the rear of the front fender is the only thing that makes it tight up there but both look like they could take a 1/2" larger radius.
On the shocks, I found a place yssusa.com which has adjustable rear shocks that should fit for $169. These can be custom ordered based on your bike and your weight. Not too bad.
If anyone is interested, I got a 12X24" piece of lexan from home depot the other day and made a windshield extension. I must say it came out even better than I hoped. Raised the top about 3" and added a little width. Man did that made a difference. Cost about $12 total. That stuff cuts easily with a jigsaw. Smoothed out the edges with a grinder. They want $80- $100 for those things on line. Took about two hours to make a pattern, mark it on the paper side of the sheet of lexan, cut it out and smooth the edges, drill the holes and mount it. With the left over I am making some hand guards for the colder weather around the corner.
Got my JCL 250 (YY250T) up to 75 the other day and still had a little throttle left. I was quite surprised. I've read that changing the roller weights can increase top speed. Is that by going to lighter or heavier weights. By the way JCL has 2yr warranty on their motors. Got mine from a local dealer so as long as he stays in business, I'm good. But if I had done a little more looking before I bought it, there is a dealer in Longview (about 100miles east of Dallas) who has 2008 SYM RV250's for $3750. What a deal. He said the 2009's will be around $4500. But I digress.
I will be glad to send anyone the plans for the windshield extension. I actually have enough left over on that sheet to make another one. Waste not, want not.

Roland, that windshield sounds great. Can you post pictures? I took the easy way out and ordered a GIVI 29" windshield and installed it yesterday. You're right though, it makes a HUGE difference at higher speeds. I'm going to try to find some adjustable rear shocks for our scoots. Maybe the Honda Reflex shocks will work.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me where I might order a water pump assembly incl. gaskets for my MC54 250B with the Linhai engine? I have ordered close to a half a dozen parts from the company I purchased my scooter from and they keep telling me they are back ordered. Quite frankly, I am wondering if I will ever see them at all and am worried about finding engine parts etc. for this scooter that I have only had for 2 months. Has anyone out there encountered this problem?

Kaindog, Your water pump went south already? That's the first tiime I've heard that one. I'm probably not the best one to be answering this question, but I do know parts are available directly from Roketa's web site--if you don't mind waiting for them. I don't have the link handy, but it is posted in several places on this forum.

Brian,
I'm not sold on this idea either. It seems this whole problem started after I took out the coolant drain screw to drain the coolant and not long after that it began to leak a few drops of coolant and even occasionally a drop of what looks just like crankcase oil here recently. What I think it needs is simply the water pump cover gasket replaced. As far as the crancase oil leaking, the mechanic tells me there is a oil seal gasket behind the water pump cover that needs replaced. Other than that it seems to runs really good. I currently have 800 miles on it.
Thanks!

I thought I would add some researching I did about the oil drain plug here, especially since so many people are over torquing them and breaking them. You only need to tighten them up finger tight real good with a teensy bit extra torque. it is a large threaded cap, cast out of aluminum, and it is too easy to over torque it and have the wide skirt break off. The Yamaha 5RU-15351-00 part fits correctly. Yamaha used the same plug on a number of scooter engines for most scooters from the Yamaha Vino 125 on up work. I ordered a spare drain plug from these folks here, but I forget which Yamaha scooter or motorcycle engine I used for a reference at the moment. www.funcentermotorsports.comBut what is really cool is apparently Yamaha Outboard motors use that very same Oil Drain Plug: www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-5RU-15351-00-00.htmlSo looking for the part for a Outboard can be most fruitful. Actually performing a Google search on the Yamaha part number turns up a number of potential sources for getting the drain plug. Yamaha Oil drain Plug Part Number Variations 5RU-15351-00-00 5RU 15351 00 00 5RU153510000 5RU15 3510000 5RU153 510000 5R U1535 10000 5RU1 5351 0000 5RU 153 510 000 5R U1 53 51 00 00 Notes and comments on the oil drain plug and stuff: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=12799What happens when you over torque the drain plug: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=13324
