I've been to the CMSI/TNG warehouse. Two truck docks wide. Big enough to maybe run a fair parts operation, or mom and pop scooter shop. They be drop shipping bikes to dealers IMHO. Yes and no... Yes: CMSI (where you may have visited) is a parts operation and main office only. No: There is a distribution center in LA near the port which sends out product to regional distribution centers (3 that I know of). No drop shipping... my TN'G scooters come from the Houston DC. -Rich

BTW- last time around I had a dealer help me register with the dmv and whatnot- what's the process for NY state? I recall needing inspection and insurance along with the bill of sale / certificate of origin to bring to the DMV. Question is, can I get inspected before I get the bill of sale / C of O from GSMotorWorks? What's the order again? Inspection first, then insurance, or vice versa?
Also- it occured to me that outfits like ATVD charge more for shipping and delivery / paperwork fees, however they charge less for the actual scoot than GSMW (since GSMW includes all shipping and fees in the sale price). When you step up to register at the DMV (at least here in NY state), they charge you taxes on the sale price listed on the Bill of Sale. GSMW's prices with shipping are lower than competitors, however don't forget there will be extra tax!
I'm wondering if GSMW can print a price minus shipping charges on the Bill of Sale, since I have to apply for the paperwork anyway...

I went over this with you dishe, go over the PM. You will now have to go to the section at GSM for getting your MSO. You should get it and the bill of sale in a few days. Take them and your insurance to DMV and you'll get your registration and a ten day temporary inspection. You can't get it inspected until it's registered. A hint. Last year I had mine done and the inspection machine didn't have Eagle or Bashan on it so the understanding station owner went to the homemade category. It was then listed as an Eagle Milano 150. New York is not always caught up on all the manufacturers selling in the US so be prepared.

New York is not always caught up on all the manufacturers selling in the US so be prepared. Actually, if you recall, our PM conversation was just about how to get the additional paperwork, and if I needed it for NY. My question is broader than that now. I'm asking about inspection, insurance, etc... I recall someone telling me that they don't do temporary inspection stickers for motorcycles, which means that you have to have it already inspected when you bring it to the DMV... in other words, cart the thing over to a station to inspect before it has plates on it (which is why I let the dealer handle that last time). That's why I was wondering if I should just go have that done now before the paperwork comes, that way I can have it all ready for the dmv. But if they let you register it w/out an inspection, that's news to me... would definitely make my task easier here. Additionally, I was wondering about the cost printed on the bill of sale. At least here in NY, they charge taxes based on the amount you paid for the vehicle. GSMW gives you one nice low cost compared to all the little fees other 'net shops charge for shipping, but the actual sale price printed for the vehicle will probably be higher because of it. That's something that didn't occur to me before, and I thought worth mentioning if someone else is reading this and wondering what their bottom line will be compared to other scoot shippers. Still a better deal at GSMW in my opinion, but a little something worth mentioning. I'm wondering if I can't ask GSMW to print the price I paid minus some shipping charges... doesn't hurt to ask, right?

Just a heads up guys. There ARE different spec levels on the Tracer 150. I called GSM today. You need to place your order over the phone to make sure you get one from the correct supplier. If you do, you will get a factory tach and the upgraded lines that dishe has. They are available in both assembled in non-assembled.

So, the ones with the Tach are the "better" ones? Or just the ones with more features? Interesting... is Huwain speced "better" than Bashan, then? Curious how all this works. Did I just get lucky?

It has something to do with which factory they came out of....they identify the "good" ones by what the VIN starts with. He said they try to hand pick the scooters like yours for retail sales, but judging by what Kliff got, I guess it doesn't always happen. I am sure glad I called!

Here dishe is our conversation, I saved it. You asked me:
So- last time around I went through a dealer (and it was 3 years ago) so I forget- how does it work around here in the NY dmv? Do I need to have GSMW send me a bill of sale? My confirmation email has a link to a form to fill out in order to get the Bill of Sale, however it requires the VIN and other info that I don't have yet... what do you do? Wait until you get it, then fill this out and wait another week for the papers?
I answered:
When you get the scooter there will be a phony MSO in the compartment under the seat. you go to link about getting your bill of sale and real MSO from GSM, fill it out and you should have it in a few days. That's what you take to DMV. Easy as pie. You can use the fake one to get your insurance cards as the VIN number is correct (check the plate under seat). Won't make promises, but sometimes paperwork will come in two days. I asked for mine on Friday-got it on Monday. Kliff on Tuesday-got on Thurday.
No quesions about additional paperwork, no nothing. Don't fool around with people who save alot of their messages. You asked me the same question you just asked in your post, almost word for word. I really like you Mordy but that's over the top. Are you going to claim I made up your PM now? I'm in New York State, I had a China scoot registered and inspected, are you going to check with everybody else now because you need consensus on everything? Geez.

Don't fool around with people who save alot of their messages. You asked me the same question you just asked in your post, almost word for word. Um... I'm going to have to go ahead and give this a great big "WTF"? First of all, yes, I also keep my PMs until it tells me the box is full and I have to go deleting them. I assume everyone does that- but if you'd like some sort of award for doing so, I'll whip one up for you! The point is, I referred to that PM before I wrote my question above. I realized I had more questions (such as inspection, and if one could be done before the other, etc), and instead of bothering just YOU with it, I decided this time to ask in the forum. If you are wondering why the text is similiar, its because I FREAKING COPIED AND PASTED most of it and edited it to be a more general question to the public here. If I were just asking you, it would have been more specific. Sheesh! Over the top? Really? I'd expect a reaction like that from Kliff, but not from you... I'm wondering, now that I have an Eagle from GSMW, am I going to become as accusatory and bitter as you and Kliff? It was a question. A different question than I asked you, but related to the same subject, so I copied. I'm sorry if this somehow OFFENDED you. My sentiments exactly. Settle down!

Don't act wounded dishe. What's this?
"Actually, if you recall, our PM conversation was just about how to get the additional paperwork, and if I needed it for NY. My question is broader than that now."
There was nothing in your original PM about addtional paperwork. That's what has me riled. You asked what you needed to get the thing registered and I told you. MSO, insurance, and bill of sale-Oh, ok I forgot to tell you that you'll also have to fill out an MV-82 which is the State's registration form. Had you followed my instructions you would have gotten your registration and 10 day temp.
Don't compare my outburst to kliff's. I answered your question in a PM. You decided to ignore my response and seek an answer from "WISER" heads.

Oh come on you guys... This is getting ridiculous.
kz1000, I did not in any way mean to imply that I trust anyone else's opinion over yours, and I'm sorry if you took it that way.
I compared your outburst to Kliff's only because both of you managed to take this thread off topic by making accusations against my questions.
Kliff, I'm not intending to burn any bridges, I respect and rely on the knowledge that exists on this forum. What will it take for you guys to understand I'm just a newbie who isn't looking for any trouble?
At the risk of taking this further off topic, allow me to briefly explain what happened here: Kz, I saw the link to fill out for the MSO for "states that require it". I wasn't sure if I needed that for NY, and I know you happen to live here. That's what I consider "additional paperwork", since in some states apparently all you need is the phony paper they ship with. Also, I wasn't sure how I was supposed to fill that out without receiving the VIN or anything, so I asked you. The ONLY reason I prefaced my question with "last time around I went through a dealer... I forget how it works" is to explain why I didn't know this, despite the fact that I already have a scoot registered here. You answered my question perfectly by explaining that I needed to wait for it to come, and then use the "phony" one they ship with to fill out the form online. Great! So off to play the waiting game with me... After it came, I went to go fill it out online, then a bunch of new questions popped up in my head.
In the mean time, you also mentioned that I could use the information on the phony one to get insurance... very good to know as well, but in no way did I assume that your response were step-by-step instructions. What about inspection? You didn't mention that, or if anything had to be done first. I didn't really ask that in my impression, so why would I assume that was your answer? Although I understand why it would appear that I did now that I look back at it...
I was told before (and again recently) that the NY DMV does NOT issue temporary inspection passes, and that some DMVs will in fact require it to register. Some don't care and may let you pass through without prior inspection, but you might not get so lucky.
I also was wondering about the taxes charged on the vehicle, among other things. Yes, I could have just followed up our PM conversation, but instead of bugging just you with all my questions, I thought I would get faster and broader responses asking here in the forum (not to mention help others who may be searching for the same thing). That's it! I swear, that's all I did! I wasn't "unhappy" with your answer, or assume anyone here is "wiser" or anything like that!
You guys have got me pegged all wrong.

Dear Mr. Barner: Just a brief note to let you know that since your recent rebuild of my cylinder head my scooter is running better than ever. I don't know what you did but it seems to be even more powerful than it was before. I have told many of my friends how you returned my head to me so quickly and sent me badly needed gaskets so I could finish reassembling the scooter. Also your seven day tech line was invaluable when I needed advice in how to proceed in areas I wasn't familiar with. Thank heavens for your East Coast Warranty Center. Sincerely. Jim Zeiser

Sincerely yours, Mordy
Seriously you guys, there are very few things in this world I hate more than internet forum drama.
