My 2 cents is that if people are sending pictures they are giving permission to post them, I thought that was the whole idea. The other option is to just expect people to post Their own pics, would the blog allow that? If not we can set up a sister forum just for the roaming rover.

You have my permission. I also have other pictures so if you find a spot to post them I will send them to you.

Google allows for collaborators on a site, much in the same way you can collaborate on a map. However...some people don't like editing sites. They've got more important things to do, like ride. We can always just use the blog for highlights and whatnot. From time to time forum databases get purged. But Google's hosting is fairly static. So for tracking purposes we can always do the map thing (Draw a line from you to the next person so we know where it's gone). I'll create a separate map for recording where Rover goes. And on that map, I can create links to blog posts with your pictures (Or links to your pictures, no matter where they are hosted). A hyperlink is a hyperlink. I'll just use links to the pictures in your photobucket account (This won't eat up any bandwidth as the images will not load unless the link is followed. Anyhow Allworld--what's the skinny on the Stonehenge lookalike? I'm genuinely curious, having never been to Massachutsetts in my life.

Well the "Stonehenge" type sculpture is part of one of the sculptures around the Kennedy Library. There are a lot of interesting sculptures throughout the city. Near me is a large Bartlett Pear, because Mr. Bartlett used to grow them here. You really should come to Massachusetts, it is like 3 separate states all meshed as one. Metro Boston, The Cape and the Islands, and Western Mass. You can subdivide those areas too.

Have been in contact with Mustang64, who would be coming from the north --- NY-NJ area. We are flexible, and it appears we can hook up. From my area, the next logical member to pick up from me appears to be Scootinfool. However, I can't find him/her in the member list.
SO, Scootinfool, wherever you are, PM me, so we can go over the hand-off.
As all of us in the northeast are aware, the only limiting feature of our scheduling is the weather!

A sticky sweet pour some sugar on me sorry could not resist ;D
Cowboy
I liked what you did with the blog.
An if we go with a sister forum I am willing to help I have rattled around in the back ground on a couple
If the sister site is set up like this one folks could post video as well Just think of the fun that could be done with that
I was having so many problems trying to bring up the google maps with MSN that I ended up down loading firefox an its been working great so far

I'm in downeast Maine about 60 miles from the most easternly point on the East Coast of the USA. That's why we're called the Sunrise County, we're the first in the US to see the sunrise. If you started in the southern states first, I could be the finish with a picture of a landmark by the ocean. Too late in the season for here now. We're having snow in some areas. My wife & I both have MC-54-250B Scoots. Willing to do 150 mile radius, maybe more depending on season & weather.

Hey, could you give me a city to center your turf around? I can add you to the map for later. Glad to have you on board though.

Rover update:
I have been in touch with Preachp and are planning to meet up soon. Possibly this weekend. He seems like a great guy and am looking forward to the meet-up and showing Rover the local points of interest. Our scoot club has a jacket patch. I'm gonna see if we have a spare one around so I can attach it to Rover's vest and make him an honorary member of the Rockland Scooter club.
I didn't want you guys and gals to think that this thing had stalled out.

No problems man.
Anyhow to -everyone- that's involved with this.
We need more potential riders, especially if Rover is going to go anywhere in Florida this winter. So if you know people on the board who might be interested in participting, send em' a heads up.
Even if they're not in Florida or stuck snowed in the Northeast, that's just one more rider Rover can hang out with. The more people who participate, the better this adventure will get.

Hi All,
Well met up with Mustang64 today and apssed Rover on to the NY contingent. Mustang64 had to get going shortly after we hooked up because of the impending darkness and the area he is in has A LOT of furry critters that run around after the sun goes down. Also thanks Mustang for the lunch. I definetely want to hook up wiht you this coming spring and/or summer. Those are some nice roads up your way. Hope you made it home safe. And don;t forget to give Ole' Rover the deluxe fifty cent tour :-) Again nice to meet you Mustang.

Spend some SERIOUS TIME out west, check out all of Arizona, New Mexico, California.. COme this way in the spring/summer.... I'll be happy to show you around... JimK

We need more people. Maybe some of you could check the "Clubs" thread for possible riders. There's still a big gap between Pennsylvania and our Virginia riders.
If any of you are on other scooter forums, you could always mention the project and have interested folks come over to our section of the internet.

I added filled mine in the other day, but did not add my post saying i'm officially in. Cincinnati Ohio are +100 miles, more if needed.
For a fee will deliver to California. Just get me enough money to get there. I'll worry about the rest later, would prefer to go now and avoid winter in Ohio.

I just marked myself down for the Chicago area. I can do a good 100 miles or more on or off highway. I'd prefer not to ride into any major cities, but will. Definitely need warmer weather though and The Fire Drake may be hibernating soon and M.E.G. is already sleeping:((((( P.S. Lynn and M.E.G. would be riding along too so we'll be able to double doggy's fun for sure.

Hello Everybody!
This sounds Great!! Count me in. I live in Naperville, IL. I'm willing to go 100-150 miles--not into Chicago if all possible. It's going to have to be in the Spring through Fall of 2009 though, since I already put my scooter away for winter. I have a Motofino MF150QT-2. I'm sorry, but so far, I don't seem to make the Google Map work for me.

I know of someone else local and that makes 5. Maybe a "rover convoy" is in order hehe.

Pretty cool project, I recall hearing about this or something like it a while back. On another forum we did something like this using a model airplane, however it was shipped to each new pilot. It now sits is the AMA museum from what I was told. I think that I can do 50-100 miles so I am in if it comes out to Arizona.

I think someone needs to mark on the map where he IS and where he's been somehow.

Way ahead of you SmorkleI do have a vague map marked out. It's more of a point-to-point thing though. I didn't make this one editable by everyone, but if you guys want me to I can. Anyhow. With teamTEOR out in Arizona, getting the Dawg to California is starting to look like a possibility (I wonder if we could get Pukame2 to take him around Hawaii?)

Hawaii, that is where I am supposed to be come early summer for my 10th anniversary. I am not sure if that is going to be a reality yet with the economy. If so I can provide the transport. Tom

I like the name "Scoot the Dawg"! I can't wait to see him in person... if it ever manages to get up this way, way way over up here! There's a LOT of empty space between Seattle and the rest of the Dawgs joining in on this journey.

Tell me about it. But hey, if you know of any Dawgs on the West Coast who might be interested--bark at them and tell them to check it out

SpaceCowboy, Aloha from Maui. If and when Rover gets to Maui. I have a spot reserved for him atop the highest point of Haleakala Crater. A picture is worth a 1000 words and it will be worthhile a ride up to the top to see Pele and the Silverswords. Till then, Mahalo for the PM and for the opportunity. pukame2

I just updated my area to connect with 90GTVert. I would be unwilling to ride that far until spring since I'd be taking my son with me if I went that distance. I'm riding this winter, but due to my propensity toward pneumonia, I'm not willing to ride for extended distances.
If Rover gets to Treesoup before then, I'll be happy to pick him up some warmer weekend, then he can wander around Lancaster county a bit. Maybe picket a couple puppy mills...or maybe he'd rather visit them for a different reason...Is he fixed?

Don't think so.
I understand on the Pneumonia thing. It's very very cold on a scooter in the winter. I'll hunt around and see if I can find someone in Maryland or thereabout
