That's great news - I just got mine last night and assembled it today. pretty much all day...
But after I threw a gallon of gas in it (3/4 tank) if fired right up and I ran it up and down the alley a few times.
I was surprised at how smooth and quiet it is.
Just waiting on the MSO now...

I got my Lance Duke Touring 150 from MTS (Motor Toy Shop) they are B&M as well as online. They get 3 1/2 starts out of 5.
Their seems to mixed experiences with them. I had an all right one no real problems but I have noticed that they read & post to this forum and some of the things they posted I would not deem as proper business etiquette or good business practice. Also just know you WILL have to wait a bit for your scooter. It took mine almost 2 months. I ordered July 3, 2008 and just got it yesterday Aug 20, 2008.

I got my BMS HEritage 150 from www.bikesrhot.comI know a couple of folks here had an issue with him, but Mike treated me really well. He has taken or returned my phone calls and emails every time. He had the bike in stock that I wanted and at a great price. I got the bike just eight days after ordering. I assembled it yesterday, it fired right up and ran smoothly. The trunk didn't arrive with it, although it was on the shippers bill as a second box. In other words, the trunk was misplaced by the shipper after they received it, so not a problem with BikesRHot. However, Mike has said that he will send me another trunk if the shipper can't find it. So far, I personally have only good thing to say about this dealer.

Treesoup, Go to lancepowersports.com and tell them how you feel. Also log onto the Better Business Bureau, I am sure they would like to hear from you as they did from me. Then there is the Oklahoma State Attorney General also on the internet and they heard a "skootfull" from me. I found a dealer 80 miles from here who is very happy to handle my warranty issues for me so I got lucky there. NEVER order on line always look to find a storefront dealer!

2/3 of the votes is for "other," and someone voted twice. Not a very informative poll Actually noone can vote twice..sometimes it doesn't count the original poster as a voter, even though he voted... SO it is 49 voters and 50 votes. noone voted twice... Strange things.... JimK

The day after I threatened to go to my bank I got a call from the trucking outfit saying they had a delivery for me from CR2motorsports (odd, since I ordered from motorxtremes.com). I arranged delivery to my job for the following day, Friday. And ... NO SCOOT.
Called them back and they said they called and I was not home. DUH! I was at my job waiting for the scoot. Arranged delivery for today, Monday. And, you guessed it ... NO SCOOT.
Called them back and they could not find a record of me, the scoot, or either my home or work address... or any evidence that I ever called them or they me! The trucking guy said he will dig into this and get back to me.

I thought maybe we hadn't heard from you because your were out scootin'.
I think my confidence would be waining at this time...
Hope they straighten it out soon. I suggest talking slowly and using little words.

Trucker called at 0730 this morning and said they found my order records and my 'package'. "It just ... turned up!" cooed the dispatcher. Will deliver to my job on Wed. (tomorrow). I'll believe it when I see it. Using small words, I confirmed address, directions to, dock location, phone number, address, address, and address. Only a complete moron could screw this up. Thus, I continue to worry.

Ha! - Yes, my shipper lost the trunk to my scooter.
My dealer says this is not uncommon, even though the two boxes are shrink wrapped together to begin with.
Mine was supposed to be delivered on a Wednesday, so I had arranged to take that day off. Of course it showed up on Tuesday. They called my cell phone and said they were 15 minutes from the house. Of course that was the one day that week that my wife dropped me off and took the jeep for the day. And then didn't pick up her cell phone!
I had one of the guys I work with take me home. The truck wouldn't fit down the alley, so he dropped the box at the end of the block and we dragged it down the alley to my house.
I can attest that things rarely go smoothly!

Sorry all - I am still a relatively new dawg and have really enjoyed/apprecaited the forum to date. Some AWESOME info, great PDI details and reviews on specific scoots. Still looking to make my first scooter purchase - and trying to weigh online vs. brick and mortar dealer purchase (along with the $ vs $$$) associated with that decision. Reading through this thread, the skeptic in me wonders if a bunch of reps from online dealers read/monitor this forum every day and post positive comments about themselves, posing as regular scooter afficianados? Don't get me wrong - just a little skittish about some of the horror stories I have read. Thoughts? Please don't kick the dawg (me) on this - just trying to play devil's advocate and understand what the risks are...THANKS!

It wouldn't shock me if the drop shippers do that. What else are they going to do when they are sitting in an office thousands of miles away from where the scooters actually ship from.
While it's possible that the warehouse dealers could do that too, I find it less likely than the drop shippers given running an actual warehouse is a far bigger task then just building a website and processing orders.
If you are going to buy online do it through a real warehouse online dealer. The dropshippers will be $50 to $200 less, but that's because they provide no value add to the whole purchasing experience. When something is wrong, like you need a part replaced or some other form of help, the drop shipper has very little he can do to help you, and the actual shipper of the scooter allowed the drop shipper to resell the scooter on the agreement that the reseller would deal with all customer issues with the sale. That's why drop shippers are so cheap. No one has any intent on providing anything other than a really cheap price.
A real warehouse online dealer provides much more than a drop shipper.

...good point - gave you a bone for it. Dumb question = how can I tell a drop shipper from a "real" warehouse online dealer? For example - is ATVDiscounters considered a warehouse - since they have 4 brick and mortar locations, but still ship anywhere in the US? What distinguishes the two. Again - sorry for the newbie questions.

For example - is ATVDiscounters considered a warehouse - since they have 4 brick and mortar locations, but still ship anywhere in the US? What distinguishes the two. Again - sorry for the newbie questions. There's no real clear cut way to tell. The best way is to get an address from the online dealer you are considering, and then plug that address into google maps. Then use the "street view" button to see the lastest picture that google has of that address. If it's a real scooter showroom or warehouse, you know they're not a drop shipper. If it looks like an office building, or someone's home, stay away, stay FAR away. Although if it is an office building, you may want to see if there's another address available as they may have offices and a warehouse seperately. But don't call them to get that address, because a drop shipper will just give you an address of his supplier. As fot ATV discounters, I'm pretty sure they aren't a drop ship only outfit. I think they do use drop shipping as an inventory option (which was the orginal intent of dropshipping before people in their basements were allowed to sign up as a dropshipper), but ATV Discounters is acually a handful of real scooter showrooms around the country. I can't speak for the people who have had problems with ATVD, but from what I understand they just in general aren't very customer service oriented. You can get parts and whatever you need from them, but you might get treated rude in the process. That may just be due to the amount of volume that they do.

I reviewed my on-line experience with ABPowersports (awesomebuggy.com) elsewhere on another thread, but I got to give Shane (head service tech w/AB) credit. My scoot came a few weeks ago with bad headlight bulb- and found that plastic plug that housed bulb defective. Shane said he'd forward my pics of problem on to Lance and instead of trying to splice wires, etc w/new plug, see if they'd just send a whole new headlight kit. UPs delivered it today (10 days) from Ontario, CA. Sent the whole kit for Lance Intercept- bulbs for all three lights all in their housing, all tucked in the complete light assembly. I'll just replace teh whole deal- one connection. For on-line experience, with knowledge of tech guys and delivery, I've got to give Awesomebuggy.com an A++ for after sale service. Their warranty at least means they'll send you the parts and try to talk you thru stuff over the phone. This Shane guy has even been to the Chinese factory, seen the line, so they've made some effort to become acquainted with the products they sell. For some reason, they've changed their "labels" and after raising prices on Lance Intercept from $1799 to $1999 they no longer sell it as "Lance" but as a "GSX f-4" but looks like same bike. Price a lot cheaper too. Maybe not dealing on-line with Lance, buying direct??? Anybody else know how taht works?

here's what it now says on their site: "Same factory as Lance Powersports, just a better price...buy direct and save" They've got the GSX F4 150 ( as 08 Intercept) for $1599 with free shipping and includes trunk. I paid $1799 for Lance name from them in mid-July.

Bluesdawg, everything I read on this forum tells me that a B&M dealer is the way to go. I went with an online dealer for two reasons: I have an obsession with online shopping, and there are really no good B&M dealers around here. Yes, it's Philly, a metro area of 5+ million. But once you get past Vespa and Honda, there is little.
Of all my online shipping experiences, this has been the most frustrating. These dealers appear to be almost uniformly irresponsible and unresponsive. I advocate a poll that is what amounts to a Hall of Shame, to include only the Worst Dealers. Then, bogus posters could not skew the data.

I live kind of close to you. I live in Wilmington, DE. I know there is a lance and UM dealer in West Chester, PA. They seem to charge a premium on their bikes, tho. There's also a little place here that sells bikes, but they has some models I didn't like in the least...

I went to Philadelphia Scooters in South Philly. Nice people, but I coulda bought a yacht for what they wanted for a 50cc. At Vespa, a lady proudly told me how she had basically stolen her 50cc for $6,500! I ran home and jumped under the covers. Didn't come out for days. Then got online and began researching.
No amount of research can prepare you for the online dealers. I pulled the trigger with a dealer that had some good press on this forum. Things went from good (when they were taking my money) to abyssmal (when they wouldn't communicate for four weeks). It's like Russian roulette with bullets in all but one chamber.
Now I await my MCO. I have the scoot under 24-hour guard with orders to shoot to kill. This better be worth it!

...thanks, TS - I think you may be right. I just have to resist the urge now for the purchase and save a little $$$ to buy from a dealer. We have several in the Mpls, MN area - Scooterville, MotoPrimo, CitiesEdge Motorsports - selection is just very minimal. Probably going to pool some cash and try to land a Kymco People S 200 or a SYM HD 200 in the off season - maybe a deal will stumble my way. I was also looking at CF Moto E-Charm 150 (water cooled), but saw some cautions on the forum and the dealer in town that carries them looks a little like he just set up shop in the last 60 days. I found a nice Kymco People S 250 on Craigslist locally, but it already has 3500+ miles for a 2007 and they are still asking $3600. Patience is a virtue, I know. The right scoot will find me - or I will hunt it down with relentless reconnaisance!!!! Does anyone think the market will cool in the offseason and prices will drop a bit?

Post by teknoyd on Aug 31, 2008 1:44:36 GMT -5
I'll bet the market cools a bit in the next month or two for a couple of reasons.
1. For much of the country, summer will be over.
2. Fuel costs have dropped a bit.
Possibly a third reason - production may have been ramped up to meet a demand that is slightly waning at this time.
By that I mean Supply and Demand. The demand may have dropped off slightly, while the supply may have gone up slightly.

Ordered from ATVDiscounters, who didn't even list the "B's". Was told order would be processed within two days, with scoot shipped within 6-10 business days. I requested RED, with a BLUE 2nd choice. They never sent a confirming shipping eMail, or tracking info.
But ... I HAD my RED Roketa MC-54-250B in SIX DAYS flat! ... and that was placing my order at 6:00pm of Day 1.
Linhai engine, large trunk, newer seat - just what I wanted. The only heart stopper was that the PICTURE on the carton was NOT of the "B"!
Carton arrived in pristine condition. ATVD tied the metal crate to a custom (or home) made pallet and stretch-wrapped the whole thing. It was shipped via Roadway (I picked it up at the terminal) without even marring the stretch-wrap!
No damage, not even a nick. Either ATVDiscounters has "seen the light", or I just got lucky.
They confirmed mailing my paperwork on Aug. 25th - but on Sept. 3rd, it still hasn't arrived ... they are looking into this, supposedly at a "supervisory" level.
Wish me luck - I'm PDI'd and raring to ride! Found few faults on PDI, also.

I bought my wife and I both scooters at the same time from Alitescooters.com out of Edmond Ok. has anyone done business with them? Nothing wrong with the price very competitve in fact got $100 off of each for buying two. Now here is where the fun starts when my scooters came in one was right one wrong made them take the one wrong back got what I ordered two weeks later. Whe I got the first one perfect no blemishes or damage but the second one had 3 blemishes on it and now 6 weeks I have got one of the replacement part and the other two are on backorder. I like a lot of people have had some minor mechanical issues and that's where there service department needs help, they are young and inexperienced and we all make mistakes but when it involves the customer then you should quickly and promptly correct those mistakes instead of continuing apologies and dragging your butt! They will however answer their emails and answer the phone so I finally got with the manager of the store itself and the jury is still out on how much better they do. I think I got his attention and I told him up front I would be listing my complaints on this forum for all to see which carries a lot of weight. Like a lot of folks out there I wish I had known about this site before i bought. They do have some very good deals and the promotion of the lifetime warranty is a good price and I will hold their feet to the fire on every thing, I am not one of these people who just gives up and goes elsewhere when people don't do as they say and the manager sure knows it now so again we will see if things get better. Again I would like to know if any dawg out there has had any dealing with these people?

Before anybody says it, I'm not a dealer lurking in the shadows. I bought a scooter from GSmotorworks.com with no prior experience and before I even read this forum. The scooter came on the exact delivery date and had all the pieces included, undamaged. We e-mailed the MSO request on Friday morning and received it Monday afternoon, making it less than one business day. I had one mechanical problem, which I troubleshot myself and they confirmed my solution over the phone the next day. I also had a part break, an uncrippling injury, and they sent me an entire new exhaust system under warranty to cover it, along with a new manifold gasket, free. As a newbie I don't think I could ask for more.
