I shake my head why this crazy stuff ? you will never fix belt slip by adding air or cooling, no matter what outrageous fan you use the heat is a symptom & result of belt slip fix the real problem quit dikin around I did fix the problem, both drive faces pull now, and with this my CVT stays stone cold?

how did you fix the drive faces ? Just like i said in an earler post, i put 4 notches 90 degrees apart on the lip the ramp plate sits on with my dremal, put 4 weld beads on the back of the ramp plate shaped them to fit with my dremal. A little red loctight. The pressure from the boss holds it in place nothing to it.

No worries noday, we all have bad days..
Today I drove to the store then home from work, after shutting down my scoot the CVT was stone cold to the touch. I brought it up on the porch and into my home and touched it again to find it pretty warm ( not as hot as before the fan mod ) but pretty warm to be sure..
This tells me the heat was dissipating from inside the engine and the cooling fan was doing it's job keeping the works cool while i was running..
And while the engine was idling i felt the air being output from the CVT, and that air was pretty warm. A lot warmer than i expected, belt slippage may have been part of the issue but I believe that engine was really getting hot anyways..

Humm well guys this would not be complete if i don't list my failures as well as my successes.. I had a failure today..
The squirrel fan i bought worked great for about a day and a half, But this morning on my way to work it started smacking the side of my CVT, this fan was rated for 4000 RPM's and whats needed is a fan rated for about 8500 RPM... However this did allow me to test this theory and I believe I was right, Just need a better fan.. So back to the internet search I go in search of a better fan...
Meanwhile Fawkes is still running, and with the bigger opening in my CVT he is running a little cooler... So this was not a total failure.. I will find the correct fan, I know they are made..

What about a squirrel cage fan from a 2-stroke leaf-blower? I'm not sure if they get up to 8k rpm, but I'd assume they spin faster than 4k rpm. Also, I would try and find a fan that isn't so tall.

My guess is the cage fan is getting buffeted by the air that is going "nowhere". It move a LOT of air at 8k RPM but there really isn't an outlet for the air other than the space around the cut. If you were to put a reverse "blower" fan on the clutch and somehow fill in the spaces so just the inlet and outlet were cut (new cvt cover maybe) you would get more efficient airflow AND the fan wouldn't start self destructing. Also, you could use a smaller fan.
Great idea!

Thanks guys, I wondered about that fan when I got it, it was really too tall and flimsy built for the rpms I was turning, I kinda knew it but decided to try it, just to see if the idea would work, and it did. Ill look into other fans. Right now im putting in 12 hours days until after labor day, My goodness 30 hours over time really drags you down..
That's the new reality we live in, less pay mean working more hours, not complaining, im glad to have a job, but that's the reality we all live in now.. Take care will post more on the fan as i get time to do it..

Well I have some bad news to report, last week while going to work Fawkes went down, and he lost power fast, no twisting of the throttle had any effect while he was going down... So as of yet I don't know why exactly, as I have not had the time to completely go thru it, as last week i put in 64 hours at work,. What I do know is he will not run. He tries to start but the second I let off the starter button He quits..
Ive checked the valves, cleaned the carb, checked the petcock, filter and fuel and vacuum lines, checked for cracks in the intake, all are ok and working as they should, will do a compression check today, but I'm thinking the problem is electrical, I have not found any loose or broken wires anywhere, not sure if its the coil, CDI, or stator..
Also a couple of weeks ago, Fawkes was blown over by a wind gust of 55 mph, while at work, Fawkes and two other scooters.. The fall cracked a couple of plastic panels, broke my windshield, busted my trunk all up, and broke off my handle bar wind breakers that keep the wind of my hands while driving... Fawkes ran ok coming home and since. But that may have something to do with it too.. Just won't know till I finish my checks..
I guess the thing I hate the most is the broken panels, I have new ones on the way but they will not match the paint on it now. Guess i have to decide on a new color scheme lol.
