Hi Dwild62, No, you didn't lie, your were scammed by the Digitial Speedo:) Mine is mechanical and the outside are KMH and inside it has MPH in Blue and it is very accurate like I said verified many times over with the Radar stands they put up around here as well as with my wife driving alongside me.
Thats why I questioned your intial MPH runs and said it was hard to swallow. You got me thinking what is SO different from yours and mine. Like I said Stock it was doing 49.? and thats all. Now with the Racing Variator its doing 53 so I picked up 4 mph. NOW I AM NOT JEALOUS:). But I still would like to reach 55mph maybe the milled down Boss and Iridium Plug and the Performance Coil will get me there. Be Save David Sr. besides the Trikes already move out smartly with the 150cc(149.6) and their weight. I think of them as Touring/Crusizing fun with just enough speed to keep up with Urban Traffic. als01seville Ya, you're right about touring machine, for it's just a joy & vary comfortable to ride, well w/ warmer clothing or warmer weather anyways.. I did another 50 mile ride yesterday, to go see a buddy of mine (I use scooter to go visiting cause it only costs a buck vs. $5.00 - $10.00), temperature was 43 deg. & windy, & that was the coldest 43 deg. I've felt in a while..
I get a lot of people checking the BEAR out, & give the thumbs up, & asking questions about it.. When I go to the Indian reservation I get people swarming around me & my trike..
Now as far as improving the speed, as we talked about a little in jrryan's thread, as far as changing the gearing of sprockets of the chain drive.. Being we don't really have a sprocket size option at this time, we should consider or look into the final gear option, because that is available.. The worst part of that thought, is that we need to open up the final to count the teeth.. Sprockets would be cleaner & easier, but it look like that option is a ways down the road..
I also found some high grade D.I.D. O-ring roller chain for like $40 - $80. I believe that's going to be the fist thing I change..
Also, I'm going to get rid of the exhaust springs, I like the idea of the springs, but I can see the spring loops are already wearing through, at 500 miles, I figure they'll be worn all the way through at about 1,000 - 1,500 miles.. I'm going to put a 2 1/2" stainless steel band clamp in place of the springs, which are made for this type of application.. Cost, about $10 - $20..

Well, I'm being told that the ICE BEAR does not have a 4 valve, from valve cover it looks like a 4 valve head, but is a 2 valve head.. I'm being told the these 157QMJ engines in these ICE BEAR trikes are what are referred to as GY7 engines, used in scooters w/ 16" wheels & go karts.

Hi Dwild62, I looked at my head and it is a 2 Valve head. I believe if its a 4 Valve head the cover has 4 screws holding it down and the 2 valve head has two. I read that some where or from someone on this forum. I know you can get a 4 valve CY66 motor with internal reverse for around $600.00 but it also puts out 10.5Hp. Alleyoop

Hi Widl62, Yea that could be done, you have to replace the Drive Shaft which has bigger spline gears and then change the secondary gear to a smaller one. als01seville As far as the 2 bolt valve cover & the 4 bolt valve cover, is the 2 bolt valve cover is the GY6 b engine, then you have the 4 bolt valve cover which is used on the 2 & 4 valve head. I now can see the difference between the valve cover we have & the 4 valve head valve cover. The head we have on the BEARS is 2 valve, but it's a deeper (thicker) head, which is what they're calling a GY7 engine, which has a different shape valve cover then on the standard GY6 engine..

als01seville Scooter Dynasty told me this when I was talking to them about replacing the head on the BEAR.. They said "this is a 157QMJ GY6, also known as a 157QMJ GY7, this engine is use only in scooters w/ 16" wheels, trikes, & Go-Karts. When I was looking for a new head for my "08 Longbo, one website I was looking at, had a complete head at a vary good price, but I didn't buy it because they said it only fit the GY7 engine. So to sum it up, the GY7 engine is actually just another type of GY6 engine, like GY6a & GY6b.. So instead of nick naming it a GY7, why don't they just call it a GY6c engine.. This head is deeper. This engine is a short case, but I think the final part of case where the gear box bolts up is different than a standard short case..

Dwild62, I like the Global one, I don't know about yours but mine leaks at the connections and I hear the puff,puff from it. Is there material like the rubber bands that some of the Muffler Clamps come with available to be able to put under the clamp all the way around to silence the leaking there. Alleyoop

als01seville There's the rubber that they use w/ the muffler hanger straps, they put on the 2 wheel scoots.. I know those mufflers gets pretty darn hot, but I'm not sure if it's as hot as the head pipe gets on the trike or not. I'm not sure if it would stand the heat or not..
What I'm trying to find is similar the one at Global Industries, a little wider, to put around where the pipe butts the muffler, so that part of the clamp is on the muffler (looks like maybe 1/4" - 3/8" on muffler) then tighten. Also I've got some thin stainless steel that I think would work as shim seal or shim sleeve (what ever you might call it), to use w/ maybe the clamp from Napa.
I can't do anything till the end of the month, but if I could make that work like I think it would, I could possibly cut a piece to send to you, if you don't have access to thin stainless. I think I have a couple of different gage stainless, but if not I might have to form it to, not sure I'd have to look..

Hi Dwild62, Well thats great, I hear the engines do not really break in until 1500 from someone on this forum. So maybe we have better things to look forward to.
Well its going to start to rain tonight and continue raining tomorrow and friday all day(BUMMER). Well at least it will give me the time to get the boss cut down and the chain guard fixed and ready for the first test without taking away from just enjoying riding.
I will not put the Iridum Plug and Performance coil until after the Boss tests. After I decide which one I will stick with then I will put those two items on. I do not want to skew what did what. The Plug and Coil should improve something even if its just smoother Idle or whatever. Alleyoop Alleyoop

Alleyoop Ya, both speed & gas mileage will improve, some. My gas mileage is just starting to budge a little. I don't expect much improvement until it gets closer to 1,000 miles. Speed should improve some.. Scooter Dynasty quoted me $45. for new head, & $29. for new front rotor. How are your front brakes? I think my rotor is warped slightly. It's not real bad, just quite annoying.. I decided to try your fender idea today, only I didn't have any weather stripping, so I decided to try Clear Silicone (RTV), I put a thick heavy bead across each fender support & down the vertical part of support (about 1"), then smoothed flat & let it set up for an hour or so, then bolted fender back in place.. Then I adjusted & lubricated drive chain.. Then I cleaned & waxed, & polished the BEAR.. I'll see if I can get a ride in tomorrow before our rain comes.. By the way, I'd appreciate it if you didn't pass YOUR rain my way, darn you!! ;D David Sr.

Today I took a 50 mile ride (probably last 65 deg day for the season) to the Indian Reservation, I seen the 1st Spider Trike I've seen around here.. It looked like a 150cc, I was trying to see if it had plates on it, but couldn't tell.. My ICE BEAR trike also is the only one I know of around here too.. We'll see what next season brings out..

Well, I know this is a little off the scooter subject, but there's NO scooters, or scootering today!! Today is a smokey day!! Today I'm smoking a pork shoulder roast. I guess the ? should be, "will it be good or not?". This is only the second time I've tried smoking meat, the first time was a meat loaf for about 2 hours, & now this pork roast, which has to smoke for 8 hours.. The challenge is to keep the coals hot for 8 hours.. I was raised w/ wood fire for heat, but to keep a little hot coal fire for 8 hours seem to be a little on the tricky side.. Every thing you do seems to effect the temperature. I'll you know how it tastes tonight. ;D

Hi Dwild62, I saw that one as well but I since I don't have a welder I would have to pay to have rings welded to each side. I will go for something like the jegs pipe clamp.
I am sure the Roast will be just YUMMMMMMMY. Thats good eating:)
Picked up my cut down Boss and I just finished putting it on and marked the Variator. But its raining here and it will rain tomorrow as well so maybe Sunday I can test it out. I also had my chain guard fixed. I had him take off the 1/16 rear bracket and put on a 1/18 piece of GOOD metal. He also hit other spots with the welder that were breaking, so hopefully it will last now. Alleyoop

Well, that roast was great!! It took about 7 hours. I also made a basting solution I found on the internet, called MOP.. Sounds kinda corrosive ;D, but man was it good, so good in fact, it was good enough to use as a meat sauce right at the dinner table as well.. Think it would be great mixed in Venison Burger!!

Hi Dwild62, Pretty slick, why didn't you just go for a Whizzer:) My Brother in law has an Electric bike. I found the big Electric Hubs for him in CA. He got the Electric Front HUB called the BRUT:) Has 4 batteries and does 41MPH, it is quick, if you hit the throttle at take off it will throw you off the bike if your not holding on. Man is that motor powerfull. Alleyoop

Alleyoop Well for what I invested in the one with the baskets on it, I could've just about bought a Whizzer. The one w/ the baskets will go about 35 mph, it has a shift kit on it, it's a 7 speed, & I built all the hardware (so it wouldn't come apart). It'll do about 43 mph + down hill. Last summer I road it 25 miles (50 miles if I had to do a night run) / day to work during the onion harvest, before I had my accident. Believe it or not, I've got about $950.00 in that bicycle..
My father use to have an original Whizzer, back in the early 1950's..

Dwild62, me and my brother-in law were looking at buying a couple of whizzereds but because of my fused hip I cannot get on a bike. It would have to be a ladys bike so I can step through. We then looked at the Whizzer Ambassador which is more like a low rider motorcycle. I could get on it from the back going over the rear tire and onto the sit. It was nice we rode them but it would only do about 40mph and needed a motorcycle license because they do not have pedals so it wasn't considered a MOPED. Then last year we got MOPEDS at first they were ok but only good on side streets cause they would only do 32mph. And also the step through was a little high for me because the fused left hip does not allow my right leg to move out or high enough. So we sold them after having them 3 months and then I spotted the Trikes and here we are:) Here is a picture of the Moped. Alleyoop

dwild62 Hello I have the Ice bear pst 150 9 trike. Today while riding about 34 through town something started to rattle. I think its the chain guard You posted that yours broke off. Did you notice any rattling before it broke? Mine looks like its breaking right below the screws.
