cant believe how many compliments i get on this bike even though its small it packs a lot of "punch appeal" everytime i get off the thing some one asks where did i get it and when i tell them the price they are shocked. up to 30mls and loving it torque of the trike is way more then i expected didnt think i would be able to burn rubber in this thing but it proved me wrong more then once i asked my dad about the oil and he said leave it in till about 150 miles then switch out still need to switch differencial grease but i love this this surprised not more people have one only complaint about the bike is my seat lock one will unlatch but i have to hit the top of the seat to unlatch second one do u have this problem david sr. also david your trike sounds mean man it sounds great impressed

A Dawg's A few days ago I discovered the new performance muffler was coming apart again despite the new muffler mounting bracket, though it didn't break (which was a good thing), just the aluminum rivets came loose, so I modified the new muffler mounting bracket a little bit.. The rubber bushed motor mount on the bottom of the gear box, is where the 1 end of the muffler mounting bracket bolt up to, was still allowing movement of the muffler, so I replaced the rubber bushing w/ a solid bushing, to make muffler more solid.. Hopefully this will close the exhaust issues.. I drill out the rivets, drilled 5 more holes & installed 10 aluminum rivets each w/ backing washers, fill the center of rivets w/ long set JB Weld, reinstalled muffler..
Also elongated the holes in the reverse cable mounting bracket on the gear box.. Moved cable mounting bracket to the rear 3/16" - 1/4"... Reverse cable lever on the handle bars is a lot easier to shift from forward to reverse & vica verca..
Took the BEAR for a 15 mile spin today.. Had it up to 112 chinometers. Muffler seems to be staying together so far (so far a good thing).. I also turn the corner & did a steep climb up the hill, w/ no jumping from the drive (so far another good thing).. Now last but not least, I pulled the spark plug, & it looks great, nice light brown..
So to sum thing up a little, it looks like thing are starting to come together..

Dwild62, Great News!! Also that its not jumping anymore now that you adjusted the Reverse Cable given it more slack to fully engage in the forward gear. But check your Reverse and if it shudders or jumps then tighten it up a little until it goes away. So what is the real speed that you had it up to and at what RPMS. Orginally you said your speedo was off like 10mph, do you have a gps. Do you think the engine is produceing more power.

Greenhorns, Check your oil level, do not let it get low, its a brand new engine. As far as your Seat Latch, you need to adjust it so it closes and opens properly. If the hook on the actual seat has adjustment you can loosen the bolts holding and moving that. If it doesn't then you have to adjust the actual locking mechanism left or right. Alleyoop

Greenhorns, Try turning the Idle Speed Screw Clockwise, Thats the screw with the Spring on it in front of the Carb right by the Throttle Cable. It should idle around 1500 rpms. Alleyoop

OK Dawg's Another update.. 27 deg. 50 mile ride today.. The BEAR ran vary well... Though I did lose the muffler mounting bolt AGAIN, but fortunately I didn't lose the muffler.. I guess I 'm going to have to use lock washer & Thread Locker or maybe a Jam Nut..
I think there's no question, I'm definitely getting more top end, also more consistent top end..
OK, I installed a new muffler mounting bolt, I added thread locker, a jam nut, & drilled a small hole in the end of bolt & put a hitch clip in the end of bolt.. Now if I loose this bolt again, well, I guess it'll be time to give it up!!!
Also adjusted reverse cable, had to tight a little, wasn't engaging reverse..
Also had to hose drive chain, the road grim, & salt is raising havoc w/ drive chain.. I'm thinking it might be a wise idea to order a spare front & rear drive sprockets, to have on hand..
Went by a few cops today, I'll bet they were looking in their rear view mirrors, looking to see if I had plate or not, being winter and all the snowmobiles & 4 wheelers are out..
OK, well that's todays excitement..

Dwild62, GEEZZZZ!! You are having a heck of a time with your Muffler staying on. I have no problems with mine and either does my brother-in law muffler bracket coming loose. Well with the hole in there and a pin it may come loose but at least you won't loose it or have it drop on you.
So David Sr. Did you finally get rid of the Shudders and or Jumping now that you re-adjusted the reverse cable?
The cops will always check to see if you have a plate on it:) They do around here as well:) Alleyoop

Greenhorns, Did you get your trike to idle yet? The rule is if you try something or someones gives you a suggestion on how to possibley fix some problem you are having Repond with that fixed it or it did not fix it or whatever happened. That way when someone else has the same problem everyone knows what the fix is.
Also Greenhorns you should start your own Thread About Your Trike Call it Greenhorns whatever type of trike you have. This way your questions and suggestions on how to fix your trike problems will not get lost in someone else thread and the answer will be easier to find for when someone else has the same problem.

Alley I figure a few mile will tell the story.. Yesterday it was good w/ everything as far back as it could go.. So far it hasn't jumped in forward since I move the mounting bracket back as far as it would go.. Today I went to back it up & it didn't want to stay engaged in reverse.. So I adjusted the cable out about 3/32" - 1/8", took it out into the driveway to horse it around, couldn't seem to make it jump in either direction.. So we'll see what the next few miles bring.. OH HAY, you know the BEAR goes pretty fast in reverse.. I hadn't opened it up in reverse until tonight... David Sr.

Dwild62, you crazy nut:) From the information I got long time ago its only supposed to go about 10mph in Reverse.
Glad to hear you have not experienced the Shudder or Jumping because if left to long and letting it do that it will ruin or break some teeth in the gears inside the tranny. Yes the adjustment to mesh good in both directions is small. Alleyoop

OK Dawg's Here's another up date.. Today I took the BEAR on another 50 mile test run to the Indian Reservation.. It's a nice run because when I pull in there I get quite a bit of attention.. Run went well, still has to struggle in any kind of head wind, but I think the only thing I can do about that is to go on a major diet, I guess.. Well, that's not going to happen, cause the only diet I'm going on is a good old See Food Diet, so I guess it'll just have to keep struggling in the head winds..
Before I left I changed the variator weights to 11gr & 10 gr.. Coming back, it ran like a Rapped Ape, a couple of areas I had it up to 118 kph, though most of the trip back was around 110 kph.. I think a new drive belt would make for some improvement.. Today the muffler & mounting bolt all stayed in tack & tight.. Muffler rivets are staying tight so far as well..
When I got back to the shop, I decided I needed to come down 1 main jet size to a #130, & slide needle back to center position..
Also had to tight drive chain..
I'm trying an experiment for drive chain lubrication.. I've been using chain lube, but I don't feel like it's adequate for snow, slush, water, sand, & salt.. It seems to be just washing off & allowing the sand & grime into the rollers causing a lot of wear.. I don't use motor oil because it doesn't really get into the rollers & just slings off chain & makes a nasty mess w/ in a few miles.. Chain lube needs to be lite enough to wick it's way into the chain rollers.. So I'm trying 1 part Mobile 1 Full Synthetic 0w-20 & 1 part Marvel Mystery oil mix, it seems to wick real well, we'll see how that goes..
Something else I'm considering, is a light weight receiver type hitch to accept a large trunk or platform of some sort between the rear fenders/ tires, similar to the receiver hitch platforms they use on cars, SUV, mini vans, etc., for shopping purposes, Picnics, fishing, etc. Your Thoughts...

Dwild62, Nice ride, Fifty miles. So its doing around 60mph is that right? That thing is running well my man. Did you notice what your rpms were or were you to busy holding ON:)
About the platform, sure why not if need to haul some small stuff like go get some beer and stuff:) Or just go to the store to pick up some small items. I already do that just with the Trunk I have. But make it light and removable so when you want to TEAR up the roads there you can take it off. Alleyoop

Alleyoop Ya, I'm thinking 60 mph, I'm not going to say any more than that w/ out putting the GPS on it.. If I remember right you're a bit lighter then I am, so when I hit the head breeze, or just against the air current it make the BEAR struggles, but if the air current is perpendicular to me or better yet behind me, the BEAR burns the pavement.. Even does pretty good on the up hill as long as I'm not in a head wind..
RPM's, at 118 kph = 8,000 rpm or so, 110 - 112 kph = 7,600 rpm, 60 kph = 6,200 rpm...
Also for got to mention, that so far now jumping in the drive..
I'm thinking about another 50 miles tomorrow..
Also, what are you lubing your drive chain w/??

Dwild62, 60 mph is awesome!! Don't forget the trike is pretty heavy and You....AHH well Oh you asked about the lube on the drive chain. I just went and bought Chain Lube, don't know what it has in it but it looks like oil to me:)
Did you mean to say "THAT SO FAR NOT JUMPING IN THE DRIVE" or IT IS JUMPING IN DRIVE? Alley

Alley Oh man,, Ya I meant to say so far there's no jumping in the drive..
Ya I'm using chain lube too, but it's not cutting it, for our Northern Winter roads. Though my chain lube is for Sealed O-ring chain, so maybe that's why, I don't really know.. Well I'll be ordering a D.I.D. Sealed O-ring chain in a week or 2.. The Sealed O-ring Chain will last a few thousand miles.. I'll tell you, I haven't adjusted my GS750 Suzuki's drive chain w/ over 10,000 mile what I adjusted the BEAR's drive chain tonight, but the Suzuki also has a D.I.D. Sealed O-ring Chain.. The Suzuki's drive chain, I haven't adjusted it more than 1/8" in 10,000 miles...

Dwild62, That is great news that its not jumping or shuddering anymore, i know it was a big concern of yours. When you get your new chain let me know what size and where you got it. Eventually me and my brother-in law will also need new chains. Great Job on the Trike David Sr. You have that sucker ROCKING AND ROLLING and we can now REALLY say "DID YOU SEE THAT" "WAS THAT SUPERMAN IN HIS BLUE SUIT" "NO-- IT WAS MR. WILD ON HIS BLUE STREAK" Alley

Alley Hay, you remember yesterday I said I change the main jet again.. Well, maybe the main jet was OK.. I feel kinda foolish right the moment, I never thought to look at the K&N Uni Filter Dry Charger Sock. Which is a sock to keep mud, & water from getting into the Uni Filter.. Instead of cleaning Uni Filter all the time, you just take the sock off & clean it.. Well that sock was pretty dirty!! I cleaned it, I'm letting it dry over night, put it back on in the morning.. I may be putting the the #132 main jet back in..

David Sr. With all your winter riding i can imagine how dirty that thing got. And for sure would be running rich blocking the air. I am going to try the #130 since I don't have a free flow muffler it might just be right if not I can higher, I have the 132.5 and 135 as well.. Alley

Alley Ya, that's why I said I was thinking the #128 main.. But you should start w/ the #132 & work your way down, that way you should only have to change jets 1 or 2 times..

Hay Dawg's What do you think of this idea?? Aluminum Swing Frame Mud Guard.. Purpose is to keep road crap away from air filter & carb.. Only took about 50 miles of winter roads to clog up Dry Charger filter sock.. This mud guard was just a quick test piece, if you Dawg's thinks it looks alright, I could leave it like that, or I could paint it black.. Though I was thinking of making the same mud guard from Aluminum Diamond Plate... I cleaned Dry Charger filter sock, did a 50 mile ride to Radio shack to get a Lighted Rocker Switch... When I got back the Dry Charger filter sock appeared to be as clean as it was when I left, though there wasn't any snow & slush on the roads today which is the worst of it.. David Sr.
