I got few cheap gps navigators and I'm thinking of installing one to my maxi scooter.
Can you trust that plunger and install it to windshield? It might drop and it's not very beautiful installation. But there it is safe if it starts rain.
How did you install gps navigator to your maxi scooter? Pictures / ideas?

I just used velcro...put a strip at the center of the handle bars and a strip on the back of the gps...havent had it fall of yet.
Also did this for my mp3 player because the radio that came on the bike stinks. I placed that strip on the right side of the handle bars below the radio on the dash.
I got the velcro at wally world. Its not the prettiest but it does work..ill get pics later

Ditto on the velcro. I had a GPS I used the suction cup with...didn't fair too well when it hit the road. On the S'wing I have a holder that bolts to the brake reservoir. www.ram-mount.com

Nice Velcro ideas. But like in the last picture the navigator is in the bad angle. Doen't the sun reflect from navigators surface so you really can't see the map?
I used the suction cup with windshield and a little bit negative angle with navigator. So that the navigator is slightly looking for the rear tyre. No sun reflection at all.
But like I said. I don't trust that suction cup. It might be dead navigator after one little bumb on the road.

There are lots of posts about mounting a GPS here if you use the Google search feature at the bottom of the search page, this probably my favorite one. If you use the suction cup that has the little bar in the middle that you flip up to increase the suction, it works just fine. With a clean windshield or tach and a clean suction cup it'll never come off. I had mine mounted in both places for over 10K miles and it never once came loose. -Rich

I usually turn the brightness up on it and I havent noticed it not being viewable...then again I dont use it all the time Also, I didn't take the picture from a mounted position, but standing over the GPS and to the left...kinda just threw it on there to take the picture :-) hmm..I kinda like the suction cup idea too...my gamin came with the window mount that has the flipper to give added suction...I had thought of doing it that way but thought it might drop, so that was why I went the velcro way

Rich-
I'm just being nosy, but what's that dial on the left side of your dash for? And the gauge to the right, is that water temp?

The dial on the left side was the radio volume control. I disconnected the radio and ran a speedo cable from it to the air/fuel mixture screw and tack welded it very carefully to the screw. This way I was able to adjust the carb on the fly, even while riding. The other gauge was a volt meter, so I could watch the voltage on the scooter. I had 125 LED lights, a 12v adapter and a 110 converter so it was necessary: I also had a neon license plate and HID lights: -Rich

Wow, that's awesome! The charging system on these things is a lot more robust than I thought.

I have a Garmin Nuvi and I mount it to the Majesty windshield with the suction cup that came with the Garmin. It has never come loose. Took a 300+ mile scenic round trip the past Fall over some stretches of rough black top roads and it stayed put.
On the other hand, it won't stay put on the Pegasus windshield so I use velcro on the dashboard and on the back of the GPS and it works fine.

Here's my setup on a Roketa 50. I got the bracket at Advance Auto (radar detector bracket). You can bend it to the perfect viewing angle. The suction cups hold it super-tight. I've had it up to 35mph, but it would hold at higher speeds. Frankly.....these things should be for temporary use only. They pose a big distraction to riding a scoot.

On my Aprilia Sportcity 250, I have a Garmin Nuvi, mounted on a small ball mount attached to my left handle. Got it on ebay... very nice workmanship. Attachments:

Do a search, I've posted many images about my GPS mounting: The GPS mount and power cord are routed through handlebr switches: Yes, the GPS unit blocks the speedo, but it displays more accurate speed anyway. The RAM mounting ball in mounted on the metal bracket that holds the handlebar and cover, vibration is minimal in motion, going over rough terrain may cause difficulety to read, but suspension mod would improve that... add to list to upgrade. SAE power outlet to allow easy access for battery tender and electric clothing if needed..
