Just finished my 5,000 mile inspection.
Valves gaps are right where I left them at 2,400 miles. Belt wear is .4mm measured against a brand new one..and still 1.2mm above the service level. The CR7EIX I tried out is holding a light tan. Air filter is good...bu then I haven't been righting on any dirt roads lately.

I got energetic the day before yesterday and cleaned the air filter, checked the plug, battery terminals etc. Getting the "personal trunk" back on was a pain!

Had a bit of an oops replacing my right front disk rotor. First 4 bolts came out a little on the hard side with my 3/8" impact wrench...5th didn't want to budge...so took out the 1/2" impact. Allen head socket rotated in the head of the nut like a hot knife thru butter.
Seems like the bolts are 'red loctited" in. Loctite says to heat them to 250 degrees before attempting removal. Ohh well. Live and learn.
Found a Suzuki part number 59421-03A01. Went to the Suzuki dealer part# has been superceded a couple of times. Tells me I'm not the first one to strip the head. In any case...the Suzuki dealer had to order the bolt. So I got a week to managed to get a bolt with a stripped head off.

Headlight modulators...? Is there a specific brand/model which is applicable to our scooter, or are they fairly generic? I think this is one tweak I'd want.
Congrats on the Silverwing, Harry. Just caught that on your list!

i know jc whitney and dennis kirk sell some, but i believe they are the mechanical breaker type box like a turn signal flasher. the ones i have bought are, and i hope this doesn't break the rules, visipath by comagination. they are compact (size is especially important fitting it inside a motorcycle headlight), and they are solid state circuitry. nothing mechanical like a flasher to break. i bought one to put on my wife's virago 250 and liked it so much, i wanted one for my sportster. then when she decided that she wanted the ms3, i took the visipath out of the virago and put it in the sporty. i had to buy a different style for the ms3.....the guy from comagination even called me to make sure that i knew what i was ordering, and questioned me as to what a hyosung was, and was i sure of the bulb in it. it works great! i had to disable the 'pass flash' feature, but that's a european thing anyway. they are all expensive, but, when it came to my (newbie rider) wife's life, i didn't hesitate. people DO look at you. i had one guy pull to the side at a stop light and holler at me about it. i said, "annoying, isn't it?" he said yeah, but wanted to know the name of it because he wanted one for his bike.

sounds like what I need! Might I ask what unit you ordered for the MS3?

h a, i went back through my emails and they didn't list it, just that they had received my order. i'm pretty sure that it was S75H7. our bulbs are 55w, and that one is good up to 75w, and the bulb is H7. plus it is $10 cheaper than the higher wattage ones. now is the time to consider the tail light unit if you are at all interested. i see the 115w combo is $85. maybe he'd do the 55w combo for $75. that's quite a savings on the unit and shipping. i already had a rear unit that i'd gotten for the virago. access to the rear wiring is very easy on the ms3. you DO have to pay attention to polarity on the rear unit when you are hooking it up.
by the way, on the ms3, you can use the same unit on either high beam or low beam. i find it more effective on high beam. in a motorcycle installation with both high and low beam coming from the same bulb, you have to specify to them which beam you wish to modify.
how you coming with the bonding? the other day, i rode over to newton, iowa to do a meet up with breeze71, and i couldn't help myself. up ahead (on I-80) was a guy on a harley putting along at what i surmised was about 65mph, and i gave her a twist, and went flying by him at an indicated 92 (which was probably a little less than 85 or so), and gave him a wave. i hope my wife appreciates what she has. that thing is a barrel of fun to ride. i've noticed her developing a 'guy' trait, in that she will turn and look back at it after parking it at a store or restaurant. a few nights ago, we went for a ride up around saylorville lake and stopped at a store along the way. a biker was coming out of the store, and made a comment about 'how neat, a harley and a moped..........' i gently corrected him that it was a fuel injected 250 that is very capable on the highway. but, when we got inside the door of the store, she was mumbling outloud, "what's he talkin' about.....moped?"

Just a little update on the idling issue.
I just finished reading my Silverwing owners manual. It is EFI and the idle speed needs to be adjusted every 4,000 miles. This is something that surprised me as the Hyosung manual is somewhat silent on idle speed adjustment.
In any case...the idle speed on the Silverwing needs to be adjusted when the bike is hot. Honda recommends at least 10 minutes of hard stop and go riding before attempting to set the idle speed.
Over on the Harley forum's there is a lot of talk how the EFI actually works. Apparently there is an 'open loop' idle mode that only works when the bike is hot...the ECU ignores the O2 sensor and just goes to a pre programmed 12-1 Air fuel mixture in an attempt to cool the engine.
So if I combine what the Harley guys are saying with what Honda is saying then the idle speed screw actually does have a purpose for when the bike is in 'open loop' idle mode...which only occurs when the bike is hot which coincides with the stalling incidents I was having.

Bolts came in from suzuki for the disk rotor...manage to get the last bolt out by heating it up with a mapp gas torch. new bolts seems to be painted blue...probably blue loctite...rather then red. All went back together fine.

Well, my longest day-trip to date was last Saturday...120 miles round trip. Probably seems ike a short-run to many, but to me,it was an adventure I plan to repeat ASAP. Took county roads the whole way to a town never visited before to see a relative at a car-show. I just had the scooter in for it's 600mi service, and now it's up to almost 900!!

Got it bad, indeed!! ;D Maybe tomorrow for the trade if I can get there before work! Practice your emergency stops. The brakes are linked!!!! Squeeze right brake more than left and you are good. These bikes Haul down really fast fro 80 mph when you have practiced. Don't be afraid of that front brake, let it do most of the work. ease on the rear brake after you have shifted weight to front tire and modulate left brake to keep tires from locking up. really easier than it sounds. My MS3-250 stops with confidence.

Too funny. At about 3500 miles I started stalling out when slowing for corners or grabbing a fistfull of throttle at a green light. would have to wait for fuel pump to pressurize line and hit ignition. Sometimes while still rolling ;D, anyway. 2 days ago I turned the idle up a smidge and no more stalls. I originally thought I was gonna have to get some of those suzuki valve shims. Maybe you should start a suzuki cross reference thread for the UM/HYO scoots.

Update on my MS3-250 4600+miles turned Idle up too around 2000 rpm while engine was warm and no more stalls. Still Hits about 92 MPH (speedo indicated so probably 80-85) I weigh 343 LBS. Good lil scoot.

man, that doesn't sound good. we've never gotten ours over two bars on the temp gauge. watch it close! also, if yours is anything like ours, the gas gauge stays on full for quite a while, then when the bars start disappearing, they go pretty fast. when i rode it back down to the dealer, i had another 15 highway miles south off the interstate to the dealer. as i approached the exit i could swear there had been two bars. but as i headed south, realizing i had just passed the last gas till i got to the town ahead, i looked down at the gauge, and it was on the LAST bar! i immediately turned around and headed back (maybe a mile) and as i rolled into the station, the last bar disappeared and a warning light (that i didn't know was there) came on. if it didn't have efi, it would be fun to take a gas can along to see how much is left after the last bar goes down. i'm not sure i wouldn't have made it, but i'm glad i turned around. Just for reference. after my last bar fades and the reserve icon is flashing on the LCD...I have over 30 miles left in the tank if travelling 80 mph by the speedo.(sealevel, no hills.)

At about 3500 miles I started stalling out when slowing for corners or grabbing a fistfull of throttle at a green light. Mine was grabbing a fistfull of throttle when at stops when the bike was running hot. The last time I had a stall I had run up the side of Snoqualmie Falls which has a stoplight at the top. All was fine until I gunned the throttle when the light turned green. Dirty Filter + Pre-programmed 12-1 open loop + idle speed at about 1400 = stall.

Been out riding as well. More scootering lately as my VTX 1800R had a bald tire. In the last half of a year I have put 4600+miles on the MS3 and about 2500 miles on the VTX

Glad we're all still here. I was out in Vegas for my daughter's wedding. Harry - I saw on the news that's it's been dry for 28 days in Seattle. Did you send it to us in the East? No ride today for sure - miserable.

Hello Harry Could you tell us where you got your new air filter from I'm not having any luck finding one. I own a 2008 X-Peed 250i I now have 7,000 miles on it. I love this thing. Thanks John Email Donna@cbxman.com part#13781HP7600 Or you could email Richard in Korea...his prices are the best but the shipping is pretty painful. richardhyosung@yahoo.com

John - welcome to our little corner of the world!
Harry - Western PA got all your rain over 7 hrs yesterday. Flooding, power outages and a couple possible tornadoes.
Everybody - the wife says she'll ride 2 up with me. I ordered her some gear yesterday so we'll be out next week. This all came about after she watched me dancing at my daughter's reception. She wants me to take ball room dancing lessons now. There was also something about horseback riding if she rode with me.

Harry - not a problem. We're trying to downsize on belongings like get the kids to get rid of all their stuff they left here. I did kinda want the 6' high dinosaur lawn ornaments that we saw in the consignment store in Vegas but couldn't figure out how to get them home.
