scootdawg seems to have become a bit iffy. I like it as a forum...have no complaints whatsoever. earlb is truly a master mechanic. Unfortunately, the site owner went walkabout last fall and didn't leave anyone the keys. This thread has kind of become the Xpeed/MS3 owners club...probably not enough of us to sustain a forum all on our own. In any case...I copied most of my content a couple of months ago to another forum as a 'protective measure' in the event the owner of scootdawg didn't finish his walkabout before various things like 'domain registration' expired. I wasn't allowed to copy any of your content..it's yours....not mine to copy. Thread is here...the forum is run by 90GTVert and Medman1952 who are moderators here as well. scooterrebels.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=bigboys&action=display&thread=86I invite all the MS3/Xpeed owners to join.

Anhoa - that's a great price. Maybe you need to grovel, whine and convince her that you need the extra power to be safer, better your self-image, reduce potential feelings of cultural inadequacy and help stimulate the economy. Maybe Dr. Phil can help here. Maybe you need to total the 150.

Definately time for groveling or bribery (flowers, perfume, a weekend in the Hamptons). That's is a very good deal on a very nice scooter. Gary

astro- I love your advice!! "Total" it! only if I don't get caught...oh man....I love to bribe her too but....the money is for diapers...2200$/40$ each box is 55 boxes of diapers...Last I checked the price was down to 2100$ but I think someone already snatched it. Well...I'm still riding my lovely Viva for now..
Anhoa 60xx miles and counting....diapers.

the money is for diapers...2200$/40$ each box is 55 boxes of diapers... Anhoa 60xx miles and counting....diapers. My sister managed to 'pottie train' all her kids in 6 weeks. She would just log how long it took between putting fluids/food in one end before it came out the other. Then she would just set a kitchen timer and set them on the pot. when the timer went off. Saved a fortune in diapers.

Anhoa - I have twin daughters, believe me I know about diapers. The folks at the grocery store used to call me diaper man. Got a major jump in income when they were potty trained. Harry - the kitchen timer can backfire (no pun intended). My son had a Fisher-Price garage and every time the elevator bell rang, somebody would yell "I have to go potty".
Anhoa - maybe you should start talking about a Goldwing trike.

OK. Dr. Mom's gone for a few days. I promised that I'd re-caulk around the bathtub. I needed to stop up at campus and check my mail. I wanted to do the 600 mile oil change on the Xpeed. It's a beatiful morning so I decide that I'm going to get some miles in. Hit campus, checked mail - still no CD with the new instructor's materials that I order 10 days ago and "would have it in about 5 days". Are we talking drop-ship scooters here? Anyhow, took the nice back road from campus out to the state road. Got it up to 50. Ran out to the next little village and caught one of the back roads to the next little town. It's a fun road. Once you're past the houses, the limit goes to 55 and there's fun curves and hills. The only draw back is you go up a hill and have to cross some rough railroad tracks. Go thru the next town and catch the 4 lane. Crossed 2 more sets of really rough tracks. Got on the 4 lane and opened it up to 60. Fun! Went to the UM dealer and got my oil and a new filter. Left at the same time as another guy on a big Triumph. Back down the 4 lane, opened up to 65 in the "safe" stretch (no speed traps). It was definitely fun riding along with the Triumph. I don't think he thought that little scooter could do it. Went back the way I came, stopped at Walmart and got my caulk. Came home and changed my oil and filter. I got a little over 25 miles in which is the longest ride since I hurt my knee back in May. It was warm enough that I even got in the pool for a bit. I also meet a woman who lives a block away who rides a Wildfire 150. Gave her a handout for the club I'm trying to start.
All in all a great day. Good things must end - today is gray, cloudy and rain in the forecast.

Made a run from the Camden, AR area to Hot Springs, AR via Hwy 7 and back this morning. Lovely weather and very light traffic for a nice ride. Distance is approximately 170 miles round trip. Got 80.84 mpg on 89 octane gas keeping the tach around 5500 rpm (about 55mph actual).
I do need to do something to make the seat more comfy! LOL

nice trip ouachita!!!
Lost a bolt holding on the exhaust to the swing arm. Other two were loose. Worked out to be an M8 X 1 standard thread bolt with a lock washer and flat washer. Bolt cost me 70 cents, lock washer 35 cents and flat washer 17 cents at Ace. Blue loctited all 3 bolts back in and tightened them down good.

Bolts falling out - must be Taiwanese junk! Wouldn't happen on a Japanese or Italian scoot ... Gary PS: You know I am just kidding. I'm sure the occasional bolt works loose on a Honda or Piaggio or whatever ... one cylinder engines inherently create a lot of vibration

All the tech manuals say to check them...muffller has a lot of expansion and contraction...easy for a bolt to work loose. Last inspection I checked the manifold nuts but didn't think about the swing arm bolts. Live and learn..$1.22 worth of nuts and bolts lost forever.... maybe I'll hire a lawyer and see if I can start a class action law suit for $1.22.

Harry - Don't forget to add in for loss of income, pain and suffering, and most important, emotional distress.... Gary The emotional distress was almost unbearable...Ace didn't have an 'exact' bolt. The OEM bolt had a 12mm head and the bolt from Ace has a 13mm head. I had to fret for almost 5 seconds on whether the Ace bolt would work. Then the checkout clerk had to call the manager since the bolt didn't have a barcode on it. To make matters worse...on the way home two woman crossing the street in fishnet stockings flirted with me....it was horrible.

Harry - before I retired, I was fully trained in Mental Health disaster counseling and Critical Incident/Stress Management. Do you need help? Remember - it's ok to be traumatized after something like that but if you continue to be anxious and feel the need to turn to alcohol or drugs, get help! And don't tell the Missus about the women.

Absolutely true! Call some one to help you - drinking is much more fun when you have someone with you to help with paying for the booze, transporting it, and consuming it ... especially paying for it. One should never be drunk in the company of sober people or sober in the company of drunks.
I'd volunteer but I'm afraid I couldn't get there in time - you'd already be in the advanced stages of a hangover before I could reach you. LOL

had light winds yesterday evening...so decided to punish the bike for putting me thru a traumatic experience.
Got up on I-90...found a nice straightaway with light traffic and light X-winds...first time I saw the speedo hit 160 km/h indicated or the tach exceed 9K RPM. Could only manage 145km/h inidicated in the opposite direction.

Saturday morning ride. Summer's finally here with a week to go before back to school. It's a great morning for a ride. My wife says nothing urgent need done so I decide to take a ride. She asks where and I say maybe "The Que". Quemahoming Dam used to be the main water supply for Bethlehem Steel's Johnstown works. After Beth left town, the Commissioners from Cambria and Somerset Counties formed an authority, bought it for water supply and opened part up for public recreation. Anyhow, it is beautiful and 15 minutes from the house. I start out at 8:30, temp's just right with a little valley fog. I ride the local roads down (from where I live, almost everything is down) to the Stony Creek valley. I cross the Stony Creek and pick up PA 403 South. I go thru the little towns of Benscreek, Tire Hill and Davidsville. 403's not a bad road, some curves and hills, 35-55 mph limits. At the little town of Holsopple, I stop for gas. The people on the other side of the pump come over and ask about the Xpeed. the young guy says "My mom rides a 150 and she's looking for a bigger scooter. We talk a bit and leave. A few hundred yards down the road, I see a gentleman I met before who rides an older Honda 80 scooter. I wave, he slows, pulls into a driveway. I pull a U turn and go back to talk with him. We introduce ourselves and talk a bit. He says that his neighbor rides a 150 and that his 80 plus year old brother bought a 150. I gave him a couple of my "Johnny Scooterseed" handouts about starting a club. I turned onto PA 601and proceed up the valley. I turned on to the dam road, nice ride but twisty and narrow. Had to dodge a squirrel. I get up to the recreation area and pull in. Take a couple pix, a guy bike riding stops and asks about the scoot. We talk a little and I share some fishing hot spots. Call the wife and tell her I'm headed home. Back down the road, waving at all the women on their bicycles that are training for some event. Took 601 to the little town of Jerome - fun road. Lot's of good curves and hills. I decide to go for it and get on US 219 the "Flight 93 Memorial Highway". I crank it up to almost 70 for a couple miles but there are some nasty crosswinds so I get off at the Davidsville exit and then backtrack my route home. I decide to take the main road up to PA 56 so I can run at 55. On the way I pass the Harley dealership. A bunch of heavy metal risers start waving at me. I wave back. I get home after a 36 mile trip. It may have been that it was a great day but almost every biker I saw including Goldwings and big Harleys exchanged waves with me.
