Yes, ATVD's sales reps DO work on commission, in case you were wondering. You want to know what's really going on at ATVD, talk to Brad at Brad's Scooters (ATVD affiliate) he knows more about what's going on with those clowns than they do...however, don't expect him to work miracles for you, either, he's technically not part of the main warehouse.

I would assume that the sales reps you are refering to are the ones who sell in their b&m shops? THAT is why the prices are higher in their stores? When I ordered my husband's mc-38 online (6/4) it was $1048. The NEXT DAY the online price went up over $200! Earlier this week we got a call that those bikes came in with no front wheels and he offered us the mc-41 for the same price! I think it's listed on the site for $1488. It's halfway here, according to Estes Express. IF we get the bike he said we were, I think we're getting a pretty good deal even though it took a month to get here. A $1488 bike for $1048. Now if we can get the MSOs before summer's end we'll have something. My husband wants me to sell my 50cc and get a 150cc too. I think if I decide to do that I'm going to wait till January or February to order so hopefully it will be here by spring.

It just amazes me how anyone can do business like this. How do they keep track of their lies?

My 2nd scooter from ATVD is here and not in Salt Lake. I do wonder what "Gareth" was referring to. I am very happy with how long the scooter took to get here. It is their $688 Roketa Maui. If they send out the MCO today I could be riding it in two weeks!

That's the one I have, the $688 Rocketa Maui. When I ordered it the sc02 (their number) was a Sunl but I'm happy with what I got.
Husband's 150 is still sitting at the breakpoint in Indianapolis. He wants me to sell the Maui and get a 150 so I can keep up with him. I won't be able to though because the MSO will never come.

Husband wants me to get a 150 but I don't wanna go through this all over again.

Hubby is going to call them today. If they haven't sent it, we are going to tell them to send whatever color they have. We can sell it locally for a couple of hundred more & people are thrilled. There's a place in Spanish Fork, UT that sells them pretty cheap, $1000-$1200, and we are headed that way to visit our son over the 4th. I might just buy one there. We bought another one there & it was much, much easier. ATVD is giving me an ulcer! Keep in mind that you won't be able to sell anything they send you until you receive the mso paperwork which could take FOREVER! I ordered my 50cc around the same time you did (first of May) and I did get the bike after about 3 weeks but here it is the end of June and still NO paperwork! Make sure you check your MSO carefully for mistakes. While it may have the correct VIN, a lot of folks are receiving their MSO's with the wrong make and model number on them. If you register your scoot with the incorrect info, it makes it next to impossible to resell.

"MSO's with the wrong make and model number "
Maybe they put the model you actually ordered instead of the one they sent you instead.

update on my atvd order. I ordered a 150XT eagle (SC24) on may 24th and it (or at least something) arrived today!! It took almost exactly 5 weeks to get to me, which I decided was okay because I only spent $948 including shipping. There was no shipping damage and it was the correct color. It looks like the MCO arrived with the bike - a very offical title document was underneath the seat!?! I was expecting to have to wait weeks for that document to arrive...... One problem though-the bike isn't the model bike I ordered. I ordered SC24 and got SC13. I was actually kind of expecting that to happen - about 3 weeks into my purchase they took the SC24 off their website and couldn't give me an answer to the question if they had my SC24 in stock. Well, anyhow... the SC13 is pretty similar to the SC24 (9hp instead of 12, 4L gas tank instead of 6L and different paint...SC13 is a lot more black and grey ). I assembled the bike last night and found it was missing a few bolts (like the steering column bolt) so unfortantely I can't ride it yet. Hopefully these issues can be taken care of-any suggestions on where I could get the parts quickly? Also, I didn't think to make sure that the MSO was for a SC13 , not a SC24... I'd be better do that....

The SC-13 and SC-24 have the same GY6 engine. They both have 9hp. There are no "stock" GY6 scoots that have 12hp, so that was just a mistake on their part. Looks like you had a good experience, yay!

Oh and be glad you got it for $948, they are now selling that same scooter for $1198! That's some serious inflation for less than a month! Can't say that I blame them at all though, I'd do the same thing in this environment.

interesting- the xingyue 150 (SC24) I ordered has 12hp (at least according to the online manual I found and the manufactor's own website). It was the only 150 I could find with 12hp and that's why I ordered it. I assumed that's why everyone was charging a premium for it (it was typically about $100 more than the SC13- even ATVD charged more for the SC24 before they took it off their website a couple weeks back). So it was disappointing to get a different bike. But who knows maybe you are right and they both just have 9Hp.... chinese manuals are notorious for misprints. But you are definately right - I got a great price- which is why I choose not to complain. Once I find a way to get the missing parts for the SC13, I'm sure I will be happy with it. any idea where I could buy missing parts for my SC13? It's a little hard to drive without the steering column bolted..... Also this is my first scoot- is it a good idea to buy extra parts up front (like brake pads and oil filters)? or do these chinese companies typically keep manufacturing parts once they discontinue a model?

"MSO's with the wrong make and model number " Maybe they put the model you actually ordered instead of the one they sent you instead. Yep, thats what been happening in my case. Unfortunately, despite repeated emails and phone calls requesting a correction, they've done it twice. So, I'm now waiting for the third MCO... hopefully they'll get it right this time. I tried getting it insured with the other MCO's but no dice.

You can check the clearance section at HSN.com for Terry Lewis Classic Luxuries. I know they don't have my jacket anymore and this is kind of out of season but for future reference, her leathers and faux fur items are excellent!

That's awesome kaybee! Is hubby happy? I would sure like to get some great customer service like that from them.... the scoot I ordered is the 2nd one from them, and the first one went off without a hitch. Bizarre! I know it just isn't in stock, what I don't know is why they have to lie about it? ??

Post by surfrusty on Jul 1, 2008 14:41:54 GMT -5
daqueen,
I have your answer for you. They lie because they don't have a clue what they're doing. Prior to these high gas prices they probably ran the company out of their back pocket. I ordered a Sunl 250 on May 9th and it took until the first week of June before the sales guy fessed up that they didn't have any in stock. So, I told him to send me something similar that they did have in stock. It finally made it to the house but here it is July 1st and I still don't have the registration paperwork.
My theory is that they are so used to dealing in low volumes that any increase in business makes them panic........so they lie to buy themselves some time instead of being honest and transparent about their shortcomings. As a result they lose reputation and customers along the way. Sure, they might do good on a deal here and there, but they'll mess it up because they still don't know how to handle both large volume and keep customers happy at the same time. They need to hire someone that has a good head for business to come in and run it for them because they've squandered this incredible opportunity that these high gas prices have presented.

Actually, they're a pretty large business and have been around quite a while but, in the past, their focus has been on ATV's, not scooters. While important for on-road scooters, BOS's and MCO's aren't much of an issue for ATV's and I think thats been the first big problem for ATVD. Their second big problem is poor inventory control. Without functional inventory monitoring, their salesmen haven't a clue what's in stock and what's not. Nor do they know if a currently "sold out" model will even be available again... this is what has caused a problem for daqueen and others still waiting for their rides. The third big problem (and this, IMHO is the biggest) is: They are all eyeball-deep in B.S. We're talkin' full-on, "roll-your-pants-legs-up-and-tuck 'em-in-your-boots" B.S. As a born and bred Texan, when I say B.S., I mean from Texas-sized bulls. Full of it, I tells ya; full of IT!!!

You nailed it! They need to co-ordinate their lies. Of course, it isn't a problem when I can't anyone to answer phone messages or emails!
We are heading down to Provo to see the son & future DIL this weekend. There's a place in American Fork called Less Stress where we bought a scooter previously. Not as cheap as ATVD, but way, way easier to work with. Plus they make out all the paperwork & you leave with it! Plus, they actually send parts you need. Looks like I may not end up with a pink one, but I should at least have one by the time I get back. We'll just call American Express & tell them to fuhgedaboutit....... that's the best part about Amex. When my daughter dropped her new laptop, Amex gave us our money back!
So, hopefully I'll have some sort of scoot next week!

Well... my story with ATVD isn't any better than it was yesterday. Actually, it's even worse. I left 2 phone msgs yesterday, sent a couple of emails....nada. Today, my DH (darling husband) managed to get through to Doug. Explained that Eric appears to have lied to us (again) about my scooter being shipped last Monday. Doug put him on hold & when he came back said that he's pretty sure there's a shipment coming next week (how many times have I heard this???) with a pink SUNL just like bgray's (but pink). Would we want that. He put DH on hold while he went to double check. Now... it isn't the one we ordered & paid for, but at this point I was ready to say yes. 45 minutes later, after calling on another phone (where Doug actually picked up, and said he was waiting to hear back from 'someone' else) and waiting some more... DH finally hung up. He's going to call AMEX & tell them that tomorrow will be 9 weeks since we paid/ordered.
Time to move on. I'll be checking in American Fork this weekend. Wish me luck! It looks like I need it. I'm tired of riding DH's scoot. I want to be able to RIDE with him, not just be along for the ride! KWIM?

Their ebay feedback was coming down but now it is ratcheting back up.
They are like a Jeckyll and Hyde operation. One person gets fine service then, it seems like they decide the next guy should get the hassle of his life.

I think Its the luck of the draw, if you order a scoot they have sitting around you get it fast, But then they sell you one they don't have and you wait forever!
I am sorry you didn't get your scoot, this SUNL is really sweet, The Lance Vintage I had is alot better fit and finish but this thing is 2x faster I actually spun the rear tire pulling out!
Now I am afraid that the engine is that much stronger it will prob. break faster.

Well I did it again. I ordered last night online a red SL150-26 for my wife from ATVD. I still have a scooter on order from ScooterNitro (now at the 3+ week mark from order date). Reading the good and bad (dear God, daqueens situation is horrible) about this outfit, and decided to take the plunge. Rolling-the-bones on a good experience, paid the extra for fast shipping so we'll see what happens. We leave for an extended vacation end of July, hope it arrives by then, would be about a month from order date. One of our kids live near us thankfully and if needed can arrange to have her be here to receive it if needed. Now we'll see which one shows up 1st. ScooterNitro has a 3+ week head start (was told I'd see it after the holiday, no shipping info yet so that will definitely be true), but ATVD has the "fast" shipping on it, so will it be the 260 from ScooterNitro or the 150 from ATVD arriving 1st, "shippers start your engines" hehe

Tough call, scooternitro is at about 4 weeks (give or take) for delivery times right now, but ATVD seems to get their 150's out faster than their 250's. If I were a betting man, though, I'd still take nitro over ATVD for what you'll be receiving 1st.

Anyone know where on ATV's site they say if the scoot is CARB approved or not? That SUNL SC-09 150 for $998 is very tempting.
