Congrats! And you can reach the ground, right?! Ha!
The power difference is quite substantial, isn't it?

Yes Tek, How do you think I caught myself from the wheelie j/k haha It's actually got a pretty low seat. I can reach the ground better on this then the retro 50?? Strange ? I think it needs a new batt. The seller jumped it off this afternoon so I could see the elec. start worked I've got it charging up to see??plus the guy showed up this afternoon after he found a box of parts which included the broken mirror I used some JB Weld and I am 90% sure It's fixable. Which is good if it does fix it cause I priced the mirrors, which happen to be right at $80. (have turning lights in them) We shall see what tomorrow has in store for this new project And YES the power is out of this world. Gonna have to get used to that!

That wheelie would have made a great picture!
I wish you luck on this new project. Maybe you can post some pictures as you get it fixed up and cleaned up.
Hope the mirror holds together. $80 - ouch!

Thanks Cyber, if the mirror dosen't hold up I'll deff. order that's way cheaper!! Thanks for the link! Tek, I"ll get some pics. up later, so far I've got the mirror on and it appears to be staying. Gotta love JB Weld I had to order a new Throttle Case but other then that so far so good. (fingers crossed) I know when you buy used you take a chance even when everything looks good to start with. I've put together a make shift throttle case for now, and since I can't take it on the road until after the 27th anyway it's fine to just go around the apartment complex & to tinker with. The guy either A. spilled the bike on the right side or B. Droped it because thier are a few scratches on that side and with the throttle caseing & mirror being messed up it took some damage. But only enough to leave small scratches and break the above stuff. I can't take the bike out until after the weekend of the 27th (legaly anyway) I'm getting my MC Lic. that weekend!! ((well as long as I pass the class anyways ?? ) That's why I was trying so hard to stay under $1000. cause I had to factor in this stupid class they make us take here and pay almost $300. for. I got lucky because the place was running a special for the month of Feb. for $199.00 and I got in on the last weekend. I actually talked my girlfriend into taking the class with me since it's almost $100 off, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or a bad one seeing as how much she loves my scooter I might end up loosing it lol hehe oh well I'll get pics. up later today / tonight.

Ok quick question does anyone know how to disconnect the alarm? It seems that even the wind sets this thing off (how annoying!)

Usually it is mounted inside the front cowling. I never had that problem with mine, so I haven't messed with it. On my cars I can adjust the sensitivity of it. On one model I could do that with the key fob. Maybe you can google and find a copy of the alarm manual.

Ok here are some more pics. I got the mirror fixed! Then right after I took these pics. I rolled it back onto my pattio and ran the SAME mirror into the door Needless to say it's now being re-guled lol. The only bad thing is it shattered the plastic/glass on the inside this time when it fell. ::Sigh:: I'm going to the parts store after class tomorrow to see if I can rig something up to make it work. I know I've seen stuff in the auto section of Walmart to replace mirrors on cars so maybe something will work. We shall see lol. My next question. I see the air box is under the seat? is that better / worse? Also I rode it around the parking lot today for a bit, and noticed a rattle coming from the back end? Also when I hold in the rear brakes it'll start shaking?? any suggestions? I've never dealt with brakes at all? Tek, I think I'll just leave it connected, I can't find anything online, and I guess it's better to have the alarm then to not have it. On a side note the batt. seems to be holding a charge pretty well if it's bad how long would it take for it to complety die??

The mirror - for a cheap fix you can take it off and go to a glass shop that fixes storm windows and auoto glass. they can cut a piece of glass for it and glue it in. I used to manage a shop like that and we did it for $7.50, but that was a few years ago. One caveat - you will lose the "objects closer than they appear" feature.
Since the alarm is always on, it will drain the battery if the scoot isn't driven every few days. Again, they are all probably different, but if you can figure out the brand and model of the alarm you could probably get an owners manual for it and find out what your options are as far as turning the sensitivity down. It may also go off every time a car with a thump-thump stereo goes by...
Rear brake - I'm guessing that is a disc brake? It could be a couple of things. the disc could be worn or bent. Most likely it has just sat for a while and is a little rusty or mildly corroded and will wear in.
It looks great though!

Hey Tek, Thanks for the mirror advice, I'll call around tomorrow and see if I can find any shops here that would do that. As for the brakes, the side of the scooter says hydraulic brakes, now I don't know if that ties in with disc brakes? Like I said I don't know Anything about brakes. That's something my dad always did 100% without me. I’ll take some pics. Tomorrow and see if you know? IF it's the rust thing how long should it shake roughly before it lays off that? So I'll know to take it down to the shop if it doesn’t? It does look good huh? I was actually shocked it looked as good as it did. I was hesitant to go look at another used scooter but I thought I'll give it one last shot (glad I did) I'm still trying to get used to the power. I didn't even have to move the throttle much in the parking lot and I was at 25mph before I realized it! It deff. Drives diff. then the 50cc. I've gotta learn all over again Can't wait to get my MC Lic. This month!! For the alarm issues: I've got a trickle charger hooked up to the batt. since I'm not driving it a lot right now. Hopefully the batt. really is good and the alarm had just drained the batt. while it was sitting. (It had been in a storage shed)

One more quick question: Should I still use 10w-40 oil? On a side note: So the helmet I bought at Walmart the other day is crap! I pulled it on and off today like 3 times and the inside fell out lol Now I know why it was on sale. So I took it back tonight and got a HJC one from A place I didn't know we had here called 'the helmet shop' Spent $69.00 but at least I'm pretty sure this one won't fall apart lol

10-40 on the oil, correctomundo.
HJC @ the helmet shop, yeah, those guys are awesome. I visit every time I'm in or goin g through Daytona. I wore HJC's for years, but a full face and glasses was always a pain, then I saw the Nolan flip fronts, THS's pricing. The rest is history.
Main thing, protect your noggin', HJC is a good choice.
I've got severral new sets of mirrors laying around, new, take-offs. They ain't blue, but you could paint them. If you want a set, lemme know, I'll ship 'em. Just send me the postage when you get the box, or pass it forward somehow, someday. PM me if you want 'em.

Battery - Is it a trickle charger, or a float charger (battery tender)? If you leave it on a trickle charger that is hard on a battery if you leave it on after the battery is charged. A float charger will automatically shut off after the battery is charged and start again when it needs to.
Brakes - When the bike is on the center stand, spin the back wheel and watch the brake disc, if it has one. It should look like the disc on the front wheel. Does it wobble? Can you see rust or discoloration on it?

Hey Tek, I actually thought it was the trickle kind but I guess its the smart charger. I got the box out and it's got a microprocessor chip to tell when the batt. needs charge and when it dosen't. I says (1.5A Mantener) I've just been hooking it up every night for the last two night because the guy told me the batt. was dead and he didn't know if it needed a new batt. or if this one could be charged. I can't kick start scooters because I have a bad back/leg so it's important to have the ele. start working. I could try to do it on the 50 but on this thing I"m gussing it takes more power then I'm able to output on my leg lol That's why I'm so concerned about the batt. being A-OK.
As for the brakes, I'll do that today and get back with you.
kliff, If I can't find a shop to fix my mirror today I'll definitely PM you! Thank you so much!

Ok I checked the brakes out, your right Tek it is disc. I thought it was the other but I guess that's the suspension it was talking about lol.
I didn't see any wobbling or anything when the wheel was turning, but what I did notice was some rust around the edges so I'm guessing it was what you were talking about and just needs to be ridden.
I'm unsure of the rattling that's coming from the back end but it appears to be something hitting on the frame. I don't ''think'' it's anything to worry about. The brakes are my main concern.

Bear in mind that you don't know how the previous owner prepped the bike when he got it.
Just for safety's sake you might go over it with a fine tooth comb with locktite making sure everything is snug. Also look for missing screws, bolts, etc..
You're right about the brakes. They need to be smooth and reliable. If that doesn't smooth out after a bit of riding the disc may be damaged of slightly warped.
On a car that's what causes the brakes to sort of "pulse" as you're stopping. On a car you can have the disc resurfaced, or "turned." I don't know anything about having it done on a scooter, I've never needed to do that.
Glad you got the right charger for the battery!

Tek, I've been working on going over some stuff as time premits the last few days. So far nothing loose that I can tell. Per your suggestion though I'm going to go over everything just to be safe. As for the brakes; if they don't clear up with about 100miles of driving I think I'm going to take it down to the scooter shop just to be on the safe side. I'd rather pay a little bit of money and be safe. I did install my amp on the scooter, and gutted out an old raido I had for the small speakers, I must say I'm impressed. I just screwed them into the side of the under seat area, since the 'storage' is pretty much a joke on this bike because of the way the air filter is put on so I figured it would be a good place to put the sound system. I still want to get bigger speakers, but this is what I could afford for now I found some mirror replacment stuff at Walmart today, it's not perfect but it works!! Not bad for $6.00

WC,
I'd like to see some pictures of how you have your stereo set up. I'm trying to visualize how you listen to the speakers if they are under your seat.

I'll get some pics. up today, it isn't pretty right now because I'm s till trying to figure out how to set them up nicely. The amp makes it just loud enough to hear when riding. I'm waiting on a new longer mp3 cord so I can run it through the scooter and attached my mp3 player to the handle bars so I can control the volume on the road.
nickiemcnichols, I'll check it out today! Thanks!

Congrats on your new scooter, I hope you enjoy many many safe miles driving it. At least you have warmer weather than we have had during the last few months. I rode my scooter yesterday for the first time since the middle of January, maybe it will be warm enough to ride this weekend! Good Luck!

Hey guys sorry still no pics of the raido, after getting a new batt. for my camera I now have lost my camera I had company yesterday and did a 'quick' clean so it could be anywhere lol I'm in the process of trying to find it wish me luck!!! On another note; I changed the oil this morning to 10w40. Made the scooter run a little easier I think. Was wondering if you guys think I should change the gear oil? if so what would I use? I bought some for the 50cc I'll have to check the numbers on it, but I just want to make sure thats the stuff to use.

I would change the gear oil too, same stuff as for the 50cc.
I am jealous of your weather. Here it is below freezing and we got another few inches of snow last night and this morning!

;D I couldn't stand it any longer, I had to take it on the road today like you guys said the weather is sooooo nice! ((Sorry Tek)) It hit 70+ today!! So I live less then 2 blocks from the college campus, so I took it to the campus road around, then went and filled up with gas ($1.50) Came home. Ok so I didn't go on a grand adventure, but I just couldn't not ride it yet lol I did pass one cop and freaked out when one got behind me but I didn't break any laws (of speed anyway) So they pretty much ignored me. I did come home and park it after that though. Next weekend can't come soon enough so I can just get this stupid MC class over with!! I will say this; this scooter will fly!! I had no issues hitting 55 and it seemed to have more power. (this wasn't wot) so I'm impressed and no longer feel like a bug about to get squashed I wasn't ready to go wot 'yet' I figured I'll wait till I get my MC lic. then at least it would just be a speeding ticket hehe AS for the gear oil, thanks tek, I thought it would be the same since the oil was but I just wanted to make sure, I think I'm going to go do that I also found my camera so I can now go take some pics. I put the 'trunk back on so I had a bit more storage, dosen't look as good to me but I need some room

Thanks, Gary, kick me while I'm down! Maybe it's the ten inch wheels, but my scooter doesn't do so well in this... It got up to 30 degrees today! So you guys enjoy your cushy weather! WC, Sounds like you came out alright so far. Now get that MC class under your belt and get on with your life! - Tek

haha get on with my life?? My life now appears to always have a scooter in it I'm hooked good & Tek, I feel so sorry for your scooter lol It just looks sad! Here is the pic's. I know it looks a little crude but I'm waiting till I save up a bit of money (about $60) to get the rest of the stuff I need; including bigger speakers. Then I'm going to build a small box (or something) to attach to the side of the under seat area. But for now this blast my music pretty loud. Gets a little muffled because of the tiny speakers but I can't complain I decided on this set up because if I need to work on the scooter, the only thing I have to disconnect is the power cord from the amp. I have it running to the batt. I've got that attached to the frame via cable ties. I took the 12V power cord that hooked into the wall, attached a inline fuse, split the wires and put connectors on, via the batt. that way all the speakers /amp ect is self contained under the seat. Which makes taking the under seat area off easy. So that's it for now. I have a short MP3 cord now so I can have it all under the seat. But soon I'll have a long one I can run via the frame, so I can have my mp3 player by my left hand grip to control the volume. I'll keep you guys updated
