Looking for help. I'm eyeballing a Bandit 250cc but it's my first scoot and I don't know Jack ca ca. China has more bike shops than communists and parts and maintenance are no problem for them, and the milage they log is a lot less than here in Texas where we drive an hour to cover the 90 miles to the nearest six pack. I need to know:
Is this a good ride for the bucks
Can I expect a lot of down time
Can you steer (Texas animal) me in a better direction.

Bandit as a company is a good one. We highly reccomend them and Jim the owner is exceelent to deal with. That said and Jim himself will tell you if you have a good local dealer that sells decent scoots that is by far a better bet. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the 260cc Linhai powered UC-250 from bandit is probably one of the better entry level 250 class machines. If you can save a little longer though a Daelim, Sym, or Kymco will give you better service over the long haul. For the money though the Bandit machine is a good deal and Jim is one of the best internet dealers there is. You can expect a little troubleshooting at first. Well worth the extra $160 to have Jim asemble and test the scoot and ship it to you via a custom crate. That will eliminate half the potential problems. Beyond that a few problems are likely to occur in the first thousand miles. Once the bugs are out it should prove to be a good machine. If you Don't know Jack as you said and are no sure of your mechanical abilities get one from a local dealer. A 50 or 100 mile drive is better than a 1500 mile phone call anyday when the scoot is down.

Not sure where to put this but..........Hi! I'm new obviously. Got a 2007 Roketa Bali 150cc that I finally got running right. Not many ways to find out info or where to get parts. Luckily it only cost me a new battery ( after 1.5 months ) and some time to stare and diagnose the problems. Rides great now with 540 miles on it and about 80mpg so far!! Phil

Hi all, I'm pretty new here and to scooting. It's funny that a lot of members are/were pilots, I'm also a pilot (only private, not commercial...yet). Anyway, I've been frequenting this forum for a week or so now and it looks like everyone is full of information, which will be helpful to me. I just hope that someday I can pass the info along to another newbe (which is what I am right now, and hope not to be in the future). Oh, I am 19, live in Cali, and am looking for cheap fun transportation (hence the scoot), I don't own one yet, but I'm looking for one, and on one of my researching missions, I found this site, and what a find!

Aerostudent welcome. Yes seems to be something about scooters and pilots..LOL There are a lot of us who are or were pilots on this board. As an ex-bush pilot just remember you can land any type aircraft absolutely anywhere..... once.

Phil There is a banner at the top of the page, click PROFILE and from there you can edit the sidebar info. This forum does not give you automatic emails on the threads you have posted to. Someone made a good statement that by not having that function, it makes you come back and peruse the forum.

Yep, side bar looks fairly well filled out, though you haven't used the free form field (Personal text) and of course its missing the flower, that comes from filling out the ICQ field, as do symbols for AIM, Y! and email.

You could also put pics of your ride down in the show and tell feature, and I believe in this forum we've a thread about what we all do for a living.

Hello everyone. After a month or so of reading the various forums and "essays" on different scooters, I have put my money up to Bandit's down in Oregon and now have a CF Moto (the Helix clone) scooter on it's way here to NE Washington state. After I "refresh" my geekness and learn how to include pictures, etc, I will start a series of post of what happens once the scoot hits the pavement. From 1967 thru 1985 I had a series of Kawa's, Yami's and Honda's, so this scooter thing is all new (except for a Cushman and Mustang in the mid 50's). I am not mechanically challenged, so the Banana (it's yellow, so needed a name!) should be fun. Enjoy the rides..... Bill in Okanogan Wa. 98840

Hello, First I would like to say thanks for all the hard work you put into this site it really shows. Second I'm humbled at the amount of knowledge that is abound, not only within these forums but the downloads page as well. 3rd thanks for giving my customers a place to go after the sale to give them a piece of mind knowing they are not alone. Bottom line is yep I'm a dealer but also a enthusiast who not only delivers scooters but rides as well. Thanks again, Jeremy

Thank you for your website, just wish I would have read it before I bought my NST 250, (JMSTAR). Just blew it up yesterday after owning it for seven months. I guess its too hot in Phoenix to ride in the summer.
It's nice to see there are other people out there that love scooters as much as I do. Keep up the good work.

Hi Red and welcome. If you want to keep up with the big boyz, you'll have to go 250cc or bigger and that isn't in your budget. The Peg is one of the fastest 150cc you can buy but it's not going to keep up with your leather dressed Harley bad boys. What you need for that is a Kymco Xciting 500. Looks more like a motorcycle than a scooter though. Just reading between the lines I think you want a smaller scooter. You might consider riding on the back on long trips and having a fun little scoot that's light enough for you just for around town.

A used Qlink Legacy might do the trick providing your boys don't run 70-80 mph all day. 244cc low seat height twist and go operation. Real popular up here with the ladies who ride with their husbands. www.qlinkmotor.com/product.php?id=2

Hi All, Well, I have been scanning this forum for a while now and I must give Dawg and his crew high praise for the great info here. As with other newbies, I wish I had found this forum first before I bought my scoot but for a fact you certainly have save me lots of headaches. I had all kinds of ideas about what to do to make my Roketa Sicily 50 run better and go faster, short of losing the 30 pounds my wife suggests.
My Roketa runs pretty well most of the time. It's been great reading the 50cc forum and learning that I wasn't alone with my issues. What I really took to heart was that I need patience when I ride, enjoy my scoot when it does go 25 mph or better and that it's time to upgrade.
Dawg, I must say that your review and the comments on this forum have brought me to believe that my next scoot will be a QLink Pegasus 150. I plan on serious shopping in Sept and hope to find one here locally. Had to much negative experience with internet shops that never respond to their customers once they get paid.
Since this is my first posting I hope that it's OK but let me know if there are problems.

Since this is my first posting I hope that it's OK but let me know if there are problems. Welcome bear. At least nobody on this forum will bite your head off for buying a Roketa on the net. Most of us here got started with Chinese scooters purchased on the net and many have graduated to nicer rides. In my case, my first scooter was purchased on eBay, a 50cc off brand. Had a few minor problems but it served me well for a while until I bought a UM 150... . On the Peg, I just have to say that it's one of the best rides I've ever experienced. I know there are a few who report problems but such is life. You get mechanical problems with any brand and you get dealers who don't have good mechanics or whatever. A friend of mine just bought a new Kawasaki cycle and on his user's forum they are getting a lot of reports of the axle nuts being loose. Doesn't mean it's a bad machine. It means there was a problem at the factory and the dealer didn't properly prep.

Hi all , I'm also new to the scootering world , and have just purchased a Vuka XL125 . see link below www.vukascuta.comI stumbled upon this site while searching the net , and now after 2 days of "reading" the posts have become absolutely hooked . The posts are very informative and I have learnt a lot in the last 2 days . If you log onto the Vuka website you will see that these scooters are only sold in South Africa , but are obviously Chinese . The price is not bad either R6995 which equates at the current exchange rate to the dollar $970 anyhow enough babbling , and a very warm hello from Port Elizabeth , South Africa

hi I am new here and new to scooter ownership, i have had motorcycle most of my life. Right now we own A 07 HD electra glide ,and 2 07 sym rv250's. My scoot exp just kind of happend about a month ago ,heres the story. Me and my woman went shopping for a bike for her about a year ago and found a suzuki Gs250, it was a nice bike for her to get her feet wet again. but she did not feel right on the bike,i took it out a couple times and well first gear is about useless. around town the bike had enough power if you beat on it. that not her style of riding.so fast forward a year the bike sat there doing nothing ,i was like honey what are we going to do with it? she stated she wanted to ride but did not FEEL good on the bike ,she wanted to look at riddley's($$$$$) that went out the window(yes i know my HD was a lot) so i drive past a scooter store that has bike in front of it also near my home. we stoped in and looked ,she fell in love with the sym rv250 , we talk to the owners of the store and they let her take it for a ride .it came home the next week. I took out a hyosung gv650 and liked it also.my mistake was riding her scooter during the first week she had it.Well that why there 2 in the garage, she was mad a me for takeing it all over the place... any way i been lurking around a bunch of forums learning ,we like to make some new friends and we plan on riding the heck out of the rv's TJ & Linda

Wow, that SYM looks nice. I should lurk around the welcome center more often. I used to ride bigger bikes but now I like it under 400 lbs and preferably under 300. There is just something about the economy of scale. Even on the bigger bikes, I spent 95% of my time under 65 mph and in city traffic. It's so cool with a scoot to be able to park just about anywhere, get the thrill of two wheels and be able to push it around almost like a bicycle.

As you ay,for around town the Sym is perfect. Will cruise the side street all day at 25 mph if you want, but still jump on the highway and feel great at 65. Had the smaller scoots but they are not to cmfy over 50.Looked at a Burghman but it is big and I have my Harley if I want big. The Sym seems to be the perfect small ride.
