I'm down in Altus. There's not a big scooter scene here. I've probably seen 15 scooters max. We get lots of looks and people stopping us on ours.

Oklahoma, yes - Oklahoma City, no. I'm about 125 miles east (McAlester). So it looks like there's only 3 of us scootdawgs in Oklahoma. I haven't seen any kind of scooters in my neck of the woods.

Ok guys, here's another Okie for ya! I'd say we have all four sides of the state covered at this point. I'm up in Ponca City.
I know there's plenty of scoots around OKC and Tulsa. In fact, I am pretty sure there's a couple of scooter clubs in both cities.
We may have 10 or so scoots actively on the roads up here, but for the most part, this is BIG Pick Up truck country. I think gas would have to be at $10 or more before some of these folks were to move over to scooters.
Forget trying to get anyone to give up their Trikes or Harleys.

I'm talking with a few guys about opening a scooter shop in Edmond - I wonder how it would fly??? Can't really say. There's a Genuine dealer here in Stillwater and I chatted with him a couple of times. He complained bitterly about how the state made him jump through hoops (showroom, other building requirements and more) to qualify to be a dealer. Then Atwoods jumps in selling the cheapest, most unsupported Chinese scooters you can put in a brick and mortar store. The scooter I bought at Atwoods for $1083 make it really tough for him to compete. In my defense, I didn't know this guy's shop existed when I bought my scooter. This guy makes ends meet by repairing anything with a small engine... lawn mowers, etc. I think Pep Boy's occasionally sells the same cheap and poorly supported brand (Baja Motorsports), complete with a whopping 90-day warranty. Try to get a feel for the level of competition in the Edmond & N. OKC area before jumping in with both feet and your life's savings.

scooters are getting thick here in Tulsa! Tulsa scooter is a dealer that's been around for a lot of years. They meet at 6pm every Thursday at the dealership and go ride to a restaurant and have dinner! Plus other events through out the year! www.tulsascooter.com

I'm here in OKC! I know there is Atomic Brown here in OKC but I am not sure what brands they even sell.
If anything a shop for these cheap one's would be nice around here. I think a lot of people are buying the Roketa's, Tanks, SUNL's and such around here and probably going to have a hard time finding a repair shop when something goes wrong.

Newby here. Just joined tonight, Shawnee, America. I am on a waiting list for a scoot from Atomic Brown. I am on a wait list for a Kymco People 250 S. Genuine is their main brand. I did see a Roketa there. I wanted a bigger scoot, in case i have to jump on I-40 to get to one of the casinos LOL. I know there is a scooter club that meets at Vespa of Okla, In Oklahoma city, but when i looked at their pics online.. there only seemed to be Vespas in the group. I did notice at Atomic brown's, they service different type scoots, they had a Vespa in there for service.
hope we can get together for a ride sometime, LOL especially after i get a "ride"
thanks Kateayre

Another Tulsa ScootNewbie here. Live in Broken Arrow actually but my commute to work is in Tulsa, over by Hilti actually. I can highly recomend OutdoorSportsnMore in Broken Arrow at 71st and the Creek Turnpike as a great dealer to do buisiness with. They sell the Jonway version of the 250cc CFmoto scooter. They currently have 3 in stock but they go quick. I see 2-3 scoots about every day when I ride to work. Throw 2 down if you pass me on the road, I've got a silver Reflex clone so keep an eye out....

New Tulsa scooter rider. Got a 2008 silver QLink Pegasus from Metric-Cycles a few weeks back. I've talked with the guys there a lot, they are a good dealer and not a fly by night operation.
Short commute to work and school is easier to look forward to now. If I ever get a free Thursday, I plan on doing the Tulsa Scooters dinner rally. Hope to see some of you guys out there on the road.
Strength in #s!

Hey silverdollar, is your scoot silver? and parks at 3001? think I have seen you drive by if so. I work at Tinker also. I don't have a scooter yet, I have my name on a wait list over at Atomic Brown's.
I don't plan to use the scooter to commute to work, there are too many crazy drivers on I-40 during rush hours, but plan to use anytime I can otherwise.

You guys know there's a B&M dealer of Chinese scoots in OKC? I saw them on ebay, they do local pickup only. I found my used Burg, otherwise I might have made the trek over there myself.

Yet another Tulsa newbie! I just got my scooter this week, and Other Half got his last month. He is an experienced rider...me, not so much, but I'm doing ok so far. Both scooters are JCL and, like Mrdezyne, we got them from OutdoorSportsnMore. Great guys there...they bent over backward to make sure we both got exactly what we wanted!

Welcome to the forum Deconblues.
There seems to be several folks from the Tulsa area. Just this week I have begun to see some here in Shawnee.

Thanks Deconblues
Now i have a question for the okies...
Have any of you taken the skills test at the DMV?
What driving do they have you do? What does it amount to?
I am signed up for a MSF 28-20 Oct and will take it. But I really need to ride the scooter to the test, I really dont want to haul the scooter there. I can if i have to.
I am wanting to take the state skills test just to get the M endorsement as soon as I feel I can ride well enough to pass. The woman at the DMV implied it was very basic.
thanks

I took the skills test at the testing centre in Broken Arrow. Essentially it amounted to riding around on city streets with a little voicebox on my collar and proving I wouldn't kill myself.

Excellent question...why I hadn't thought to ask it is beyond me. I was wondering the same! I'm always hearing about people who have to do tight figure eights and boxes, weave through cones, and basically ride their scooter or cycle across a 20-foot high tightwire while simultaneously juggling flaming batons and singing "Tainted Love" backwards. Nice to hear that's all it is, especially since I'll also be taking mine at the BA facility. Is the voice box just so they can tell you where they'd like you to go next? Is it easy to hear when you have a helmet on? Kateayre, let us know when you're taking it and how you do! I'm planning on taking mine in about 3 weeks.
