All, I've done research and I'm torn between what is the fastest Chinese Scooter. I was set on the "i-runner 250cc-race from evosales. evosales.com/pd_fast_scooter_250cc.cfmBut, I like the look of the rocketa 54-250b allnewsports.com/mroadster250.htmHowever, the rocketa 54-250b is being sold by many distributors under various names with different mph specs. Therefore, I'm rather confused what to believe and which bike to go with. Are they all the same!? I"m looking for something that is 80 mph + or that can at least be safe for highway driving. Please advise. Thanks! scooterherox

What your looking for you would have to go with large cc Japanese Scooter like the Suzuki Burgman 400 or 650 or a large cc motorcycle. 250cc Chinese scooter will not work for 80+mph highway driving.

The closest to your mark is the Linhai (Mainstreet, SUper Strada, Aeolus) 300. It has often been advertised as 80 mph capable but I don't know if anyone here has tried that. In reality, as Shark said, if you want that kind of sustained speed you need a 400 cc fuel injected scoot. They are usually rated for 90+. Not certain it is really safe to go that speed on something with smaller wheels, anyway!

Roketa lists the top speed of the mc54-250B(257cc yamaha clone engine) at 68.3 mph. I weigh 240 lbs. and the most I could get out of mine with ideal conditions, was 66 mph. Everyone that sells chinese scoots tend to exaggerate the top end speed, even the honest ones to some degree. 66 mph on a scooter that weighs less than 375 lb. dry is a scary deal. 75+ mph is possible if you want to spend an extra 500 (give or take) for carb, air , exhaust, and electrical upgrades. If you buy a chinese 250 scoot don't expect it to go over 63 +or- mph straight out of the box. Any online dealer that says it will go much faster than that out of the box is lying. The 250 linhai scooter, the uc 250z sold by Bandit-Motorports and a few other dealers is reputed to go 75+ mph,if you buy their performance upgrade. The uc250z is reputed to be one of the best coming out of china, and actually made by the linhai co. that used to make the same engine for the yahama yp6250 majesty sold in europe during the 90's.They also make a 300cc version. I plan to get one when I wear out this roketa. If you want to cruise the freeway at 70 mph for more than 3 minutes, buy a 300cc scoot or greater.Check with Jim or Eddie at Bandit-motorsportrs.com, ph# 541 343 7344. They have helped me with parts, and a lot of mechanical advice. You can also find the linhai scoots at scootertronics, and valley scooters.

my sym rv250 thou not Chinese does 80mph with out a problem I ride for Edgewater fl to ormand beach on RT95 . about a half hour trip it will go faster then 80mph but how much im not sure . and trust me the cars still fly past you at that speed .btw the speed limit is 70 on the road. I don't feel the scooter is surging at those speed it feels really good . the cross winds do affect you and so do trucks but once you get use to that its cool.

...Any online dealer that says it will go much faster than that out of the box is lying... I think ATVD who I bought my last two Roketa MC-54-250s from states 68mph on their site, however both (Jonway YY250T) 250s break the 70mph mark easily. The first one would hold 74 and this new one does 72-74 (GPS) as well. Both stock readings when the scoots were new. The il Bello 150 I am reviewing right now tops out at 63. The real question is, how fast can you safely and comfortably go... For me at 255lbs, I am good to 65, that's it. The 250 hates slower speeds, and it's perfect cruising speed IMHO is about 57. The heavier you are, the faster you might go comfortably, but the combination of the weight, small wheels and wind doesn't add up to a stress free ride. I believe that scooters of 250 and below belong on the surface roads and are most enjoyable there. However, you can jump up on the Interstate and run 70 with mine, but not for more than 10 or 15 miles... comfortably. Just my opinion. -Rich

IF it can do 70 easily, I think that will meet my needs. What about acceleration? Is that good? No point if it can't kick.

IF? It does... and 0-55 is very quick for a scooter, 55-70 takes a little more effort, but it gets there okay.

I suggest you try and see if you can get that new 400cc scooter they are coming out with this spring. www.qlinkmotor.com/product.php?id=49But if you are really wanting to cruise at 80mph on a scooter, you really need the Suzuki Bergman 650cc scooter or the Honda 600cc Silverwing, maybe even that new Piaggio 800cc monster scooter.

The Qlink 400 does look nice. HP at 26.8 doesn't seem like much for a 400 cc engine. Hope it gets here this summer. American Lifan has had a 400 cc cycle tied up with the EPA since last year.

My Daelim S2 250 will do 70 mph, but I don't think I'll run it that fast again. Anywind and it WILL move you. Scoots are so light, they are affected by even the smallest breeze.
If you want speed, the Kymco Xciting 500 will rock along pretty good. Anything larger than the 250cc will most likely work out well.
As pointed out above though, the tires are smaller and there fore less stable at high speeds. Again, they are lighter than a motorcycle and much more prone to wind movement.

My Viva 250 will do over 75. Though not verified by gps, I had a burgman 650 right next to me. The Burgman digital speedo is extremely accurate.

To do 80 mph for a sustained period, I think you need a high quality machine,Silver Wing, Burgman, Majesty, something along those lines. However, if that is a known need, i would probably opt for a motorcycle rather than a scooter. (yes, praising the 'dark side'). CVT drive trains just are not efficient at those speeds, at least compared to actual gearing a motorcycle can provide...

Nothing from China with a cvt will hold a sustained 80mph. That is a speed owned solely by the big boys. Chinese ride might peak at 80 if you crouch down behind a windshield and you have an empty stomach.

Thanks everyone.
I appreciate all of the information. It helped me realize what I really want.
I gave it some serious thought and now I'm convinced that I don't need a scooter going that fast on small wheels. I'm happy with 65 mph. Thats the speed limit and I'll be able to keep up with the flow of traffic for sure unless I decide to go in the fast lane on the freeway (which I won't be doing). I plan to use this for local driving.
I have a feeling that 65 mph in the open wind is going to feel a whole lot faster than 65 mph behind the wheel of a car! I will probably start off at 25/30/40/45/50, etc to break in both the bike...and well myself as a rider!
