So according to the EVO associate website I bought my scooter from, it's on the way, an I-scooter race 250.. I have seen much preliminary about it, but nothing definite about it here, nor any really good pictures of one (like one showing the speedo, ect..). Can anyone who already has one help me out here? I did not get much info before buying it, but I do know how to do basic repairs on vehicles if needed, and all of that, so I figured for the price it's as safe as they get.... And yes, I did buy it before I came to the site here, and could have tried to do a little more research, but hey, you live, you learn, and maybe I will be one of the lucky ones with no issues on a shipped scooter, eh? For some reason I have yet to fathom, the first message about shipment was a few days after the purchase, saying early next (last) week, then they said it would ship (last) friday, and now I have a shipping number that is not *good* for another 2 days..... I'm thinking it will not be here till next week now... I know this kinda moves from one thing to another, and I am not sure where to put it, but any words would be nice to hear...

From what ive seen of the I-scoots its an easy to work on bodystyle so you are really lucky right there...I think you scoot is similar to the Matrix in body style but with a 250cc!!!!!
Is this your first two wheels?

I bought one as well. Black 250cc race scooter. I'm a little nervous as well reading some of the posts here about EVO sales. Regardless, I like to tinker so maybe I'll have my work/fun cut out for me.

It's my first, I have MSF in a few weeks, and best of all, the MSF class is free for me, plus it's my work days for the three days they do it (military requires it, so they pay for it, and give me the time as paid work time)

Not to worry. I think you'll find it has many quality features and it's a good value. If you have anything you need, Rony has been responsive and he will reply to your inquiry. Paperwork can take a week or two to arrive, which I don't care for, but it's fairly typical. Check all bolts and change the fluids. I should post part 2 of the RR250 review within a week so there will be more information for you. I'm using a Yamaha Service Manual and so far it has covered everything very well. Good luck. Stan I bought one as well. Black 250cc race scooter. I'm a little nervous as well reading some of the posts here about EVO sales. Regardless, I like to tinker so maybe I'll have my work/fun cut out for me.

What Stan is saying is absolutely correct. If you own a RoadRunner, you can count on us for parts and technical support. Don't listen to those people who tell you otherwise, they don't know what they are talking about. Look for what owners have to say, you will find good and bad. Make your decision from there. If you every have a problem with your iScooter, your first reflex should be to call or email us. Even if you are a good mechanic, call us; you never know, we may have a trick or two that can save you time and money. It never hurts to check. We have plenty of parts in stock and can have the factory drop ship parts via DHL if need be. Rony evosales.com

Having a tracking number does not mean the bike has gone yet. We just received a big shipment last week. Many orders went out today. If your order left, you will see tracking info on odfl.com by tomorrow. When you package starts tracking, do not be alarmed if the destination and estimated delivery date are wrong in the first 24 hours. The info is accurate after 24 hours. Rony evosales.com

So what's the deal with the shipping times, versus the paperwork times? Why does it take so long to get the paperwork/scooters out? I do not mean to be rude, I am just not familiar with the system...

I ordered a new trunk for my 250 Race a few weeks ago because the bracket that holds it on split in two. The trunk went flying down the road and got all beat up. I called EVO and they said to email them and they would send it out. Well I'm still waiting after 3 weeks. I also have a bad starter but never call about it because I figured I would never get one anyway. Sorry for being such a wet blanket but the facts are the facts. On the bright side, my scooter came when they said it would and the paper work was in the mail box the same day the scooter came.

I might be able to help a little as I ordered my scoot from EVO. First the tracking number is issued when they order the truck to pick up the scoot to be shipped to you. The number doesn't not actually become active until the truck line picks up the scoot and actually gives the package the number and enters it in the system.
Second, I have heard a couple of pretty bad experiences on this site with EVO. I had none of these issues. I made a couple of phone calls and talked to Rony and he answered my questions and what he said came to pass. When I had questions, I e-mailed them through their website and got answers the next day.
I do beleive they are a small operation with only a couple of people so this may be the issue. I also think sometime they simply don't have the parts in stock and China is a long way away.
Try a phone call if the e-mail doesn't work. I am in sales and service myself and I can tell you if you treat me like a human I am more than willing to help in any way I can. I also believe in telling my clients what they need to hear and not what they want here. It helps keep unrealistic expectations to a minimum.
I don't think any of these dealers are perfect but these guys worked for me.

Do you think the papers will get here before or after?

Andi, yes, I just put them on last night. They make a world of difference, it makes the scooter fun to ride now. I bought some MRP adjustable shocks that cost $130 for the pair but it was worth it.

Now this is a well reasoned and stated post! You need to realize that the vast majority of the scooter importers and dealers are not Fortune 500 companies with a large staff. Most are one to five people just trying to do the best they can, so when you expect a reply in 10 minutes, it just can't happen. Sometimes things do fall through cracks. I can't tell you how many scooter companies I have contacted (or tried to contact) and never had any reply at all (some of them would surprise you). I reply as fast as I can to all inquiries, but I don't do this for a living, so sometimes it may take a few hours to get a response from me too. Stan I might be able to help a little as I ordered my scoot from EVO. First the tracking number is issued when they order the truck to pick up the scoot to be shipped to you. So what's the deal with the shipping times, versus the paperwork times? Why does it take so long to get the paperwork/scooters out? I do not mean to be rude, I am just not familiar with the system... We take 2 to 3 business days to ship the order out. The transit time varies by the destination. We have new procedures in place. The paperwork goes out the next day the scooter is shipped. The warehouse faxes the bills of lading to the Dallas office with the VIN. The Dallas office mails out the paperwork the next day. Customers should get their paperwork within a couple of days of receiving the scooter. The paperwork will take longer if the State it will be registered in requires the MSO to be notarized. It will also be longer in the case of a reroute (if for example a bike was shipped and the order was canceled, we may tell the freight company to deliver that bike to another customer.) All customers who did not receive the paperwork for their scooter 3 days after the get the bike should send an email to mso at evosales.com and include their order number and VIN. Rony evosales.com

Rony - Any update on whent the iRace will be CARB certified? Thanks. Don't hold your breath. I know we are losing many customers in CA but there is nothing we can do about it now. The bottom line is that we have to make our own CARB application. I have to read a 49 page document before filling it out. I don't have enough technical knowledge to really get this done... I also believe in telling my clients what they need to hear and not what they want here. It helps keep unrealistic expectations to a minimum. We are 5 people (1 warehouse, 1 sales, 1 parts and service and one big lazy one that does nothing - that's me and one part time that takes care of updating the orders, making the BOLs and MSOs). China is not that far away. We have customers who got parts DHL in less than a week directly from the factory. We would not hesitate to take a part off a new bike if necessary. Well said about the phone call. Always call or send an email first. If you did not get an answer, try a second time. Do not follow the advice of people who would have you believe you are on your own, you are certainly not as a RoadRunner iscooter owner. Monty57 my hat goes to you. You have a very good understanding not only of human nature but of how things work. Most people who have a bad experience buying a scooter online (and we have our share just like everybody else) is because their expectations are set too high. Customers who have a blown fuse and call us asking for a brand new bike are bound to be disappointed. The other group of potentially unhappy customers are the apprentice mechanics. These are people that encounter a problem (usually of the electrical kind), don't call us and start 'fixing' the bike. The result is a very big mess and we are not 'understanding' with these customers. We have better things to do than to spend hours on the phone undoing something that the owner did to his bike himself. Rony evosales.com

scooterdad, thanks for the reply and I'm glad to hear your enjoying it. I can't wait to get my Race 250, unfortunately it will be a little while yet. Reading your comments has me thinking I might have to do the same thing. I also find the ones on my wife's Bandit very firm.
If it's not too much trouble some pics of your ride showcasing the new shocks would be appreciated.
Stan, once you are in a position to evaluate the new adjustable shocks from MRP I would appreciate a review, maybe even a comparison to the MRP OKO Adjustable Shock Set you carry. Would you be able to tell me if either may work on a Bandit XC-150z with the 150cc GY6 engine?
I will exchange the ones on the Bandit first and maybe try the old ones on the Race 250, to see if they are a little smoother since it will be a heavier scoot.

Well heres an up date. I called EVO today about the trunk and was told that they are still on order and should be there in 2 weeks. I was told that the body parts don't come in on the boat with the scooters like the regular parts do. I asked if they acknowledge the emails that are sent to them and he said they do. I told him I never got one and he said to try it again to make sure that he has my order and he would send me an acknowledgment in a few hours, That was at 10:00 this morning I'm still waiting. So, will see what happens by tomorrow.
