I have a question on why people rag on my scooter... they say I should of bought a burgman or kymco or whatever its called...why?
I'm not trying to go 70mph +++ even though I can on my bike.
What's the difference between the linhai 300 vs the other brands?

Mainly the only difference is reliability. Perhaps a bit more power too.
The Burgmans are meant to last at least 100k miles. The Chinese clones usually half that.
The Burgmans had lots of Quality control, so that even after 20k miles, bolts falling off, is very unusual. The clones usually have bolts loosen within the first 2 k miles, although not as much anymore on the newer bikes, where they use sealing agents like locktite clones to keep the bolts from vibrating loose.
Once you've done a full PDI, and made sure everything is tight, and do another one every 2-3k miles, you're pretty safe on the chinese.

Is Yamaha a good brand?

no its a clone of it. most of the chinese brands clone a japanese brand but its not as good some people would say since the clones break alot more and require alot more upkeep

Is Yamaha a good brand? It is a Yamaha product....sort of...This time the Chinese didn't steal the blue prints of a Japanese bike and then try producing their own bike using inferior parts. According to Yamaha's own website, this is a partnership. www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/news/2003/08/01/joint.htmlwww.hammerheadbuggy.com/linhai%20yamaha%20profile.htmlThe Linhai is not your typical inferior Chinese bike. The quality control is superior more in line with Yamaha's quality control.

Linhais are the better kind of bikes. They're like Korean quality. Meaning some wrenching may be necessary.
If you have a dealer that asks you to return every 1000km's, then you're in luck. It means he will do the oil changes and inspect on faults himself!
Go for it! Having a mechanic that does these things is a huge pro!
Linhais still aren't as good as burgmans, and need about 3x more oilchanges. But they're far from bad!
They should last you at least 30-40k worry free miles (with the occasional belt/tire/brake/oil replacements), after that, you'd be riding on luck... Who knows how many miles they can do? I guess 80k miles; perhaps more. It'll also depend on how you maintain the bike, and how you ride it.

I just posted my impression of the Linhai after examining one very close up (well, up, underneath, all over, with a super intense light, and I was quite shocked by what I saw, Shocked by how high the quality was, not only with what you could see (Massive steel handlebar mounting blocks, stainless rear bolts, thick well finished, well fitted body panels) but things you could not. (the looking underneath part) like a stainless steel mesh screen surrounding the fan housing to stop any road debris from getting in. Do you have a good scooter NO! you have an OUTSTANDING SCOOTER!
P.S. that motor isn't a clone of anything, in fact I've never seen such power plant like that on any Chinese scoot.

If all the Chinese scooter manufacturers follow the lead of Linhai then the Chinese will do to the Japanese what the Japanese did to the American and British motorcycle industries.

prodigit and spandi are both correct. Linhai is partially owned by Yamaha. Their job is to build engines for Yamaha. Their quality is far above the average Chinese scooter. Their Scooter and ATV designs are copied from other manufacturers. If the Burgman is a 10 the Linhai scooter is 8.5 - 9. As spandi pointed out, the engine is not a clone (to my knowledge). In fact, other chinese factories clone the Linhai 260/300 engine. The Linhai scooter will require a little more attention than a Burgman but should run a long, long time.

I have the Linhai main street 300. It is the 2008 model. This bike will fly. It is almost to fast for the size of the scoot. I have had to do a few things to it like new starter, fuel pump, vacuum lines, fuel filter etc but all in all I have had a blast with it. I would definitely buy another one. My buddy has a piaggio mp3 400 and it will easily keep up with him. The power of this little motor is just plain fantastic. It will flat out run like a bat out of hell. It hugs the road like a dream. I am doing a early pre spring inspection this week on it to get it ready for spring time fun. Cant wait to fly. I love it.

I figured as much. The one I looked at would have no trouble keeping up with traffic, even on the freeway.

The link says its top speed is 65-70 mph. Assuming you're on a freeway with a speed limit of 65mph....your trip is 180 miles....Is it "healthy" for an engine to run at its top speed for 1-3 hours?

Scroll down a little lower on the 300 link danno (under specs, lower right side) and to be honest I think they're being conservative with the numbers (are you looking to drag race one?) ;D

The specs say its top speed is 65-70 MPH. If i wanted to take a trip to Austin, San Antonio or Dallas, all several hours away...is it good for the engine to run at freeway speeds....65-70 mph... for that long of a period of time? Can it run at that speed with 2 people or is that just one person?

I bought mine at tropical scooters , I highly recommend these folks. They even have good financing plans and such. I got mine delivered for free. Where in Clearwater are you? Could let you see mine too---- I just came from work and it was super freaking windy 28mph winds and the bike did fine.
