OK so i have a 150cc roketa and am looking to modify it with a big bore kit. im going to be riding it to work at about 60 mph and am looking to modify it to cruise at that speed without running at full throttle. Ive been reading on here and around on diff mods to upgrade my cruise speed...the big thing is im 6'1 220lbs....if its not possible to do ill just sell it and get another motorcycle like i was wanting to do....i just wanna make it daily driver that's not going to blow up running 55mph or 60mph to work....plus im a tinkerer and am not mechanically stupid i work as a tech at a Hyundai dealership. so any ideas or tech help is appreciated...

they make kits that you won't have to modify the crank case and those should still give you what you want as long as you do all the over mods needed to increase your speed like cvt mods and rejetting the carb

thanks that's an awesome kit! but is it cheaper to just buy the head and piston and have the case machined? im not saying i cant afford to buy that kit. im just saying if i can do it cheaper im gonna go that route...lol im one who would go thro the trouble to do it myself that use a bolt on kit....

I used a dremel to bore mine out a little, about 2mm. It worked well. Just put some fibre shop towels (not paper towels, but they should work too... may be harder to get out tho) in the crank case and around the crank it self in a way to block the metal from going in then change the oil a few times, used oil works.

yea that tool is expensive. We ordered 10 of them from NCY that is currently on its way from taiwan with the rest of our order. Most people interested in that tool are shops. A machine shop should be able to do it. Here it cost $35.00. One thing i will warn you about a 180cc kit is they to tend to overheat. Try going for a Ceramic 63mm kit. It will help with the heat. |

I used a break hone or plate hone or torque hone, which ever you want to call it.Much easier than using the dremel and itll be true round. For the amount you pay a shop to do it you can get it done and have a tool left over.

The ceramic kit is the cylinder only, the head and piston are normal. Or at least I havent came across one yet that was full ceramic, I run the ceramic taida 67mm kit and taida 3500 stroker crank on one engine and a 62mm aluminum kit on another, so far no heat problems with either but the ceramic one will go from 220 to 140 degrees in seconds after wot sessions. The 62mm kit will maintain the same temp for a long time, no overheating yet for me but I dont use that engine much as its on the Carter buggy but when it is used it is heavily used hard.

Yea that is correct. the ceramic coating is only on the outside cylinder. I have seen a few that have the bottom part of the piston ceramic coated but they were expensive. I prefer 62mm because the cylinder walls are thicker. |

I am not a fan of 63mm kit for daily driving. I prefer 60mm or 58.5mm kits for daily driving. |

If your going to put in a kit that needs boreing just go with a 61 or 62, 63 leaves a HAIR THICKNESS of metal by the bolt holes and along the chain side. Any vibration from the piston on the walls goodbye case and motor.
You can get 180cc's by going 62 with a +2 stroker crank which will give you plenty low in torque and then put in taller gears in your tranny and you will cruise at 50+ mph in the 5000 rpm range and 60 mph in the 6000 rpm range the motor will be just purring.

i was thinking of going with a 61mm ncy kit i heard that one is drop in? and a stroker crank. the first thing i will be doing once i catch back up on a few things is picking up a efi kit after that i will get my exhaust made up and then build the motor and work cvt

So your putting in at least a grand of parts on it plus labor. Maybe you should sell it and just get a 250cc scoot and you can cruise at 70mph right out of the gate.

Lefty People love the 150cc scooters because there are so many performance parts for them. Yea you can get a 250cc scooter and its probably cheaper but i guess its the same thing as someone that owns a Honda Civic and installed all those performance parts, turbos, ect... to make the car faster spending around $40,000 in parts when they could have gotten a faster car for cheaper. Its the love man lol  I have had customers spend $2,000+ on engine and body parts to get there scooter to go 75mph+ and they love it. |

Its the love man lol I have had customers spend $2,000+ on engine and body parts to get there scooter to go 75mph+ and they love it. exactly lol. its not the point of going fast its doing it on something that people don't expect. i daily drive a chevy duramax diesel. its a 500hp 988ft torque monster that runs 13.1 in the quarter mile, sure i could do that in a sports car but whats the fun in that??? ive been looking for another toy because if i keep playing with my truck the next steps are in the 3 and 4k range and then its time for a motor build which costs atleast 10k for a budget build... my main thing is being different than everyone else thats what i love and why i plan on doing this i am well aware that if all i cared about was speed i could easily go down to a motorcycle shop and drive off with a brand new 750 gsxr but i scooters are kind of growing on me lol |

That is true Elements, but you have to consider the use, it is going to be a daily driver and the 150s sure you can make them crank but making a hotrod out of it will not be as reliable as something that is already built for that. Different scooters are built for different types of use out of the crate. You can hotrod anything but you will deminish the reliability and life of it that is a given.
Besides I am not knocking it, I was just making a suggestion, the only ones that will loose out are the dealers that sell performance parts. As for the buyer he will save time down, work and money. And as you well know things do not always go right when building a hotrod, sh!t happens. But if he likes to tinker and rather build it by all means.
I still have one of my hotrods that I did not sell and take it once in a while to the dragstrip. 69 firebird, 462 hp at the rear wheels runs the 1/4 mile like a bracket car 11.73-11.78.

well i guess ill just sell it and get something bigger....i was hoping it was possible. i really don't want anything bigger i just wanna cruise at 55-60 mph because that's the fastest i would have to got on my commute to work...right now i drive a SUV that sucks gas and i have this scooter that runs that fast but' at high rpms and i'm not looking to blow it up.....maybe i can buy a 250 motor and put it on this bike? or sell it and buy bigger like was mentioned....i havent even derestricted the bike yet and it runs 60mph....i dont want a high performance toy just ont that will cruise at 55-60mph and not blow up

First of all that is a 150 built up to a 232 again a HOTROD. The most glaring is the price, and for that price you can buy a 250 with more ccs and more power and it is stock and won't have to do squat and they are ready to cruise at 70mph in Stock form. Just uncrate it do a PDI, start it up and ride.
That motor does not come with some parts so you will need to buy a few things like a Carb, Air filter etc.. One of the biggest problems with the motors that dealers sell is that they come setup for a DC system WHEN most scoots sold are AC. So with your current AC harness it is not a plug and play install, which is a real P.I.T.A. to convert over to DC or you can take your OLD stator and swap the NEW stator out so the wireing matchs. That motor looks like it is setup for Drum Brakes so if the current wheel has Disc brakes well don't even bother.

Agreed its pricey and may not be reliable as a stock 250 which most have EFI and LC which is a plus .
If you want a small hotrod a 2T is hard to beat for a cheap and easy project with lots of fun to ride
My Echarm was only 1,600 mostly stock except for Dr Pulley sliders , NGK iridium , new belt and tires and will still hit 75 with 13,800 miles on it . The only Echarms I see for sale have a carb instead of EFI but there is a few Glorys out there with LC and EFI which have almost 12 HP where most GY6s only have 8 HP
