I own the BMS 250cc L-Roar scooter. I have had it for over a year now and have not put it on the road yet.
The scooter has been discontinued, does anyone know why?
The website I bought it from does not exist any more family-motorsports.com
I left an email with BMS and they have not replied.
I don't want to put it on the road yet until I know why it has been discontinued.
I hope there are no safety issues.
Please Help, Chris

Hiya, I own a Znen Titan 250cc scoot. Basically the same scoot comes with various names depending on the importer. BMS the L Roar, SSR the Titan, Puma the Apollo, Redstreak the Navigator etc. All use the standard 244cc Honda clone engine, so parts are available (just google BMS scooter parts) No safety issues I know of (Znen's reputation is much better than most) But I would still do a full PDI before doing any serious riding. The only things to be aware of is over heating on some bikes and also starter clutch issues with some as well. But overall a pretty nice machine. (hope this helps you)

Start learning here: x1scooters.com/pdi.html your PDI really won't have to be so involved as it is a Znen product, but still do the engine oil change, gear oil... and new anti freeze wouldn't hurt.

Thanks!
It's just weird that the scooter disappeared from the market so fast. I thought it was supposed to be a top of the line Chinese scooter.
There has to be a reason the scooter is now discontinued.
Why do some of them overheat?
I thought that it being water cooled instead of air cooled would prevent overheating.
If it does end up overheating what can I do to fix the problem? and what is making it overheat?
Thanks again for all your help!

Because BMS is now carrying the 260 efi (fuel injection) as their top scoot. So it's discontinued as far as BMS is concerned, but still being turned out by Znen, (the original manufacturer) as far as I know. But I have noticed fewer dealers carrying the L roar or Titan. As far as overheating, yes it is water cooled, but it might be due to pushing the machine too far too fast, and in one case the scoot was missing (?!) the temperature sensor. I've had no problems so far (in my case I baby it, slow and easy) I also changed out the coolant for the best American brand I could lay my hands on. (hope this helps you)

The BMS has the linhai clone engine I believe, 257cc (260) vs 244cc (250). great scoot, currently the top of the line, and if your PDI has been done well, it's an excellent, though a bit high priced, scoot.

Many bikes over the years for every motorcycle manufacturer are discontinued some go a year some two but the model line up is constantly changing rarely for any reason besides keeping up with technology and style changes. Don't worry just do like they said above and get out there and ride that thing. Don't forget to always keep the shiny side up.

I have one more question. Does anyone know what the cell phone light on the dashboard is? It says nothing about it in the booklet that came with the scooter. It's been driving me crazy! Attachments:

I have one more question. Does anyone know what the cell phone light on the dashboard is? It says nothing about it in the booklet that came with the scooter. It's been driving me crazy! If I remember correctly, it is suppose to light up if you receive a call on your phone (as you may not hear it due to noise or feel it vibrate due to shaking from road movement) P.S. The tires that come with the 250 are only rated to 62 mph (J rated) If you're going to do any long distance riding at higher speeds you might want to invest is some good quality Pirelli or Michelin tires with a P rating (good to 94 mph) and much better made than the OEM stuff.

I wouldn't even know how to hook it up to respond with my cell phone since there are no directions. It's probably useless anyway, I'm not going to pick up my phone while driving or pull over.
Thanks again

What's the best way to break the scooter in?
I was told don't go over 40mph for the first 300 miles then it's okay to go faster. Is this true?

The cell phone light works by picking up a nearby signal. You don't have to do anything. But it also may pick up any nearby cell signal so it may not be your phone. Just ignore it.

Here in California you can't talk while operating a motor vehicle anyway. I've always just turned it off until after I've stopped, to check on, make, or receive calls.

BMS finally answered my email on why the L-Roar was discontinued. Here is there answer:
Dear Chris,
We apologize for the delay in the response. The L-Roar was discontinued since we are focusing on our upgraded version of TBX-260 EFI, which is the only large scooter we carry at this moment.

The efi model is what they are concentrating on now, but at the Znen website there is what looks like an updated Roar, but I didn't see it for sale. www.zn-motor.com/index.aspx www.zn-motor.com/product_detail.aspx?id=6&category_id=17
