So, i got a brand new gy6 150cc motor put it in. Came with brand new carb, coil, and i put an ngk spark plug.
At about 45mph it was like sputtering. But it stayed at that speed. So i figured i might of messed up the valve adjustment. I had it at .004 intake and .006 exhaust. So i redid it to .004 on both. Now im at 50mph and cant hear the sputtering but still does it. I also notice a slight back fire. Nothing huge when slowing down.
Now im not sure if its because i have no air filter right now and a stock muffler. But im not sure.

Your asking for trouble running it without an air filter. And once you do put one on you will have to re-adjust the fuel mixture. Backfires means LEAN and not good for your valves. Wile

The plug looks good.
So basically theres to much air going in, but not being pushed all out?

So slap a filter on it, run it and adjust everything accordingly ?

It is not your valves or pump. If it backfires on Decel, check your flange that connects to the motor it may be leaking that is a very common cause of backfireing on decel. If it is not leaking it could also be Idleing to Low and or you try giving the Fuel Ratio Mixture Screw 1/4-1/2 counter clockwise to richen the mixture. Wile

I wish an air filter existed that would make use of the wind pressure in front of the bike. It may not be much, but regular air filters suck the air in at 1 bar. If it could use the air pressure before the bike (like wind flow), it would suck in the air at 1.1 to 1.2 bar. That way, one could set the carburetor to a richer fuel mixture; and that way there will be little more power in the engine. Like, have a jet air intake on a scoot, taking benefit of wind pressure; it would only be beneficial at higher speeds, but at those speeds one needs performance more than at standstil, and could possibly squeeze out a few more mph top speed.
