Hey guys, been trolling the forum for years as I feebly attempted to attain my first 50cc hog, err, piglet. It's a 2011 Puma Romeo 50. for those unaware, it's one of those private label Znen Scoots full of what I assume is Chinese work ethic (the physiological need to produce as much as physically possible while also being worth less than a bread knife- no offense to the Chinese, I'm sure your bread knives are just as good as American bread knives).
Anyway, just wanted to do the intro thingy and see if anybody has some good links for me so I can make my Romeo not so, ehh, doody, upgrades and such (lazy and don't want to search forum, doesn't honesty deserve rewarding?). I'm not good at not cursing. I'm only 100 miles into it, I call it Sweet Discourses (Shakespeare fans rejoice!), and so far it's been phenomenally disappointing, sticky throttle, rust in the gas tank, suspension as soft as an under-stuffed Build-a-bear, yet it looks so Swag, as my generation would say. Anyway can't wait to start searching and asking, after some sleep.
If anybody has a Znen (labeled as many different scoots under mahy different names) I'd love some advice. "Buy a different scooter" is acceptable advice, ha! He is sexy though, yes he is. No pics because I'm smartphone illiterate. Look forward to being a constructive member of the forum! Wink, wink, I shouldn't have typed that out loud.

I'm no scooter buff, but I manage to keep my ol bag o crap running with some help from this site and others.
Welcome to the Dawg Pound!
I mainly post from my smartphone and I find the proboards app the only way to post pics. Not to suede you or anything.
Sorry, not that familiar with your scoot, is that an old style moped. With peddles? It may be 2Stroke? They're somewhat of a different breed.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll find people willing to help you

I believe that's your scooter: If its made like mine, not much derestricting to do on it. But you can change your rollers for something a little bit lighter. I changed mine from 6,7 original to 3,5 without loosing top end. I also added a pipe, fiddled with the carb and modified the vacuum system. If its still under warranty, i suggest you dont do any mods to it yet, it will nullify it. If not, be ready to enjoy getting your hands dirty. ;D

I'm gonna fiddle with the carb and test the battery. It feels like it just floods immediately and my instinct is always fiddle with idle and mix screws until you have to take your vehicle in and have it done proper, ha ha. The establishment I purchased it from insists I'm experiencing normal break in issues, but I think they're trying to keep from having to work on it themselves. Katastroff, did you experience performance extremes while breaking yours in? Example: last night I revved it all the way up at about 38, slightly uphill even, and today it would rev at 12, stall a bit and then off again. Gonna check the fuel line and filter, I've heard fuel filters often get installed backwards, we shall soon see.

Well, I got down into it, the valves travel twice as far as they should, and the carburetor was... It was BAAAD. Already it's running quieter and revs a lot quicker. Pleased to see it's a GY6 style long-case motor. If I'm still not pleased with it by 1,000 miles there are tons of great modifications that it would accept- maybe like a custom built MonsterGY6 motor. ;D
