I would like to replace the light bulbs with LEDs since use less power , brighter and look more modern . Can I simply insert LEDs in existing light bulb sockets ? Would I have to change any wiring ? I have seen LED turn signals sold as whole units that are universal like mine and only 20 to 30 dollars . Easy mount on existing hardware . I did not just LED replacements . I also have running lights on the front I want to switch out and tap off the wire to put LEDs behind the silver alien face looking part above my grill in the picture . State laws ban redlights up front or any blue light since that is the Polices color , so I want amber color so it looks like the eyes are illuminated lol .
I have not found out much on replacing headlight to LED . I have a main light with two tiny helpers on the sides to widen the beam . Main is 35w others unsure but know much less . I have bad eyes and have trouble seeing at night . I asked and was told that a 60w bulb would fry my scooter . I found a 45w would that be bad as well ?
Anyone here went all LED ? I have a 12 pole stator so power is not an issue .
I read some used LED foglights which sounds cool . I had a HD come up behind me his foglights and headlight was so bright I could have seen the road ahead even if my lights were off , wow . I ride in the counrty some so it would be a blessing on dark areas .
In a nearby town they use amber street lights instead of halides which are whitish blue and glarey to me in the rain . The amber is much easier to see with less glare . I wear eyeglasses and fullface helmet and oncoming lights blind me at times .
Light bulbs are cheap and easy to replace but can burn out at any given time . LEDs last almost forever with no filament to burn up like on bulbs . I had a tail light go out and I did not know it . A car almost rear ended me while I was at WOT . I could smell the tire smoke from the car was scary to me .

TONs of past posts on this. Just type LED in the google search pane below. Short answer - they're all plug and play, but for the turn signals you need a different flasher unit. No legal LED substitute for headlights yet. Finally, for turn signals and brake lights, you need to buy the color of led that the light will be (ie, red for brakes).

The first LED that made the most difference was replacing the tail light. It made my brake lights much brighter. Then my scooter uses T10 Wedge bulbs for the turn signals and the dash. Some scooters use T5 in the dash. T.. is how wide they are. As stated above, get color matching LEDs such as amber for turn signals. Im still in the process of testing the brightest style LED for my turn signals. The best so far has multiple SMD lights on the wedge. I have tried several style LED, and this is the brightest for the dash. But get white for the dash. My stock headlight is much brighter with the rest converted to LED.

Pony- you're lucky that the t10's work in the dash. I have t3s and the type of led that you have in t-3 was physically too wide for the opening.

I didnt have to change my flasher unit when I went to LED turn signals. I was surprised, but pleasantly.

Likewise for me. I added tiny LED post blinkers in the rear, replaced the original rear blinkers with LED bulbs, re-wired the original front markers to blink with the blinker (both LED also). This looks especially slick because they touch each other and look like one huge signal light now. Also added small 2-LED trailer marker lights on the front & rear sides and one at the tip of the mud flap. Also added 3 skinny LED markers stacked on top of each other right between the tail light and licence plate, wired as brake lights. They all almost look like they are supposed to be there. The markers are low profile and the next best thing to a flush mount light - I would have added more but then I'd be pushing excess I feel MUCH safer at night with all the extra lighting... the LED light really grabs your eyes. If they could only make some that are worth and damn when the sun is shining on them, they'd be perfect.

I know this is an older post, but doing teh search yields waaaay to many posts. So how many LEDs are needed for teh dash? etc, turn lights, tail lights. are they 194s or 168s?
I have a SUNL 150cc Scooter SL150-12B which is pretty much the same as the Jonway model.

I don't know your scoot, but on mine they were all T3's, and there a total of 6 - 2 turn signals, a high beam indicator, and three for the speedo/tach/gas/temp. I only changed the gauge lights since they are the only ones on at all times. obviously the easiest way to check is to just expose the back side of your dash.

Gotcha. I wanted to avoid taking it apart any more times then needed. I usually use www.superbrightleds.com on my cars, but Ive since got rid of my integra, and my wife wont let me touch her car. lol. They sadly dont have a bulb finder on their site that covers scooters. Ill go read up on how to post a pic, so I can get my scoot up. And then possibly take the dash off and count the bulbs Thanks

And u can see how i put a 2in (3 led), and under the scooter is roughly 13in either side (30 led under scooter)....Pictures do not do it justice...It looks reall sick at night in person!!!
I cant wait to get my other set. im gonna add some up front and in the rear....gonna look good!!!!

Is the lowered and stretched too ? u are correct sir....its a mild stretch by my standards, I plan on doing something Bout the shocks. And plan on doing a fatty wheel conversion in the future.
But for now. It looks good as hell. I get a lot of looks and props for it!!!!
And that is a handlebar conversion as well...

How about an airbag so you lower it to ground when you park like Harley with the huge rear tires ?
My neighbors had a LED contest on their Goldwings and have lights than a Christmas tree

Air bags are a pain, u have to continue to fill them as u ride. Not a bad idea. But I like how mine is right now. Plus don't have the money to get that custom...

Is this the relay I should use to replace my stock one? I plan on changing the rear turn signals first and maybe later change the front bulbs to led that one should work. Any of the electronic flashers at your local store should work.

You can wire any add-on side marker lights you install to flash alternately with the turn signals, just wire the ground into the positive wire for the turn signals. It works by interrupting the ground for them when the turn signal comes on. Also this way your flasher does not see the load.

I want LEDs for my speedo - the stock lights are way too dim, I can barely see the MPH inset, it really only lights up the Km/h on the outer ring of the speedo. Definitely going to see what size I take and order some.

eBay has oodles of cheap LED lights you can get, especially if you don't mind waiting for the slow boat. I got these (10pcs) for 20 bucks. Attachments:
