Ok, called the number. The guy who answered the phone staets, no they don't sell scooters. He says they had someone call yesterday, too. I explained a website was using their address and he said they'll look into it. Very interesting...

Hi guys I have some bad news. I believe theyre a scam. I bought a scooter 5/27. I got an email that read" your order would leave warehouse 5/28 and we would email you the tracking number. Monday- Friday I've call left voice messages and sent emails asking about my tracking number. And you guess it no response. Either theyre a scam or a terribly ran company. I will give them until monday to get back and I would look into contacting moneybookers about refunding my money. I will keep you guys posted.

Tried to click on the google checkout link this morning and still fails, even though they claim it should work on June 2. Looks like they updated the date in order to take orders for a while longer... "If you still want your order, you can wait until Friday June 10th, 2011 and re purchase your product."

Hey Guys Just got finish talking to moneybookers and turns out that moneybookers although markets like theyre the international pay pal is not even close they told me before I order that my money was safe and thats why people use them because they a neutral party to insure both the buyer and merchant well read this email they sent me
If the merchant do not reply within five (5) business days, we would consider your case as non-delivery and further actions may be undertaken.
However, please be informed that all “Send Money” and “Receive Money” transactions are instant, final and irreversible, as stated in our Terms and Conditions:
“9.4. ....Once funds are credited to the recipient’s Account, the transaction becomes irreversible.”
so thats my fault believing the agent and not taking my whole day to read there policies.
So yes scooter surplus is a fraud and moneybookers although know theyre a fraud is doing very little to stop them. Next week I'm going to corporate office and slapping someone. wont get my money back but it will feel good.

Gosh i feel so so sorry this happened to you, i hope you can get your money back.
I had no doubt from the beginning that this place was a fraud, i tried to tell people it looks way to good to be true, and sure enough it is.
I hope people learn from this, everybody wants to save a few bucks and jumps on these low price deals. My advice IS DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU SPEND A PENNY, RESEARCH, RESEARCH AND MORE RESEARCH.

For grins I tried calling their phone number today and it sounds like they have changed the message to a normal sounding corporate mail system.
Of course, no one answered, just thought it was interesting.

Hi guys I'm a noob here, been scooting for sometime. I found this website listed on craigslist and thought the deals were to good to be true, but that nagging little devil on my right shoulder said get one of them. So I purchased their Jamaica 150. I never heard from them either by email or phone for over a week. Thursday I got a phone call from FedEx. They didn't deliver it straight to my door like they said they would, but at least I finally got it. They don't fully assemble either, the front tire wasn't on it yet, the battery was in piece's that I had to put together, and I had to put the little windshield on too. I don't know about a scam, but they definitely got bad business ethnics, and false advertising!

What number did you call by the way. Nobody seems to be able to get a hold of them. Seems strange that people have been trying to get a hold of them FOR the last two weeks and here you come on and say you ordered one and got it delivered? Lefty

I never was able to get a hold of anyone over the phone. I can't plate it either cause they never sent the Certificate for it. I tried calling yesterday, but still no answer. I tried emailing them, no response either. What am I suppose to do with out a certificate...ride it around my back yard. By the way it was delivered either, I posted that. I had to get a buddy to get his truck and go with me to get it from the FedEx station. I would most definitely say they need to be shut down. Does anyone know how I can about getting a certificate for it, since one wasn't sent?

I called them and said 20 of us with baseball bats and cash in the other hand where on our way to have a good look at the place.
ridingtotheend, maybe when vinney and spike delivered the bikes at 3:00 am on a misty dark moonless night, they did not have any paper work cause they left it behind with bullet holes in it

Hahahahaha, That could be. I wish I would of looked into them better ahead of time. The good thing is when you type scooter surplus scam you can find this forum. Thats how I found you guys. I have a Kymco 250 xciting that I baby. This Jamaica was suppose to be for going to places around where I live. I keep my kymco covered, and shiny...so the idea of getting a cheap scooter and riding for just local trips sounded nice. Looks like I am going to be selling Jamaica 150 parts if anyone is looking for parts for that bike let me know, cause I now doubt I will ever see a Title or MMO.

Ridingtotheend.. my take so far is that there is a person who threw together a web site to sell some scooters they either invested in, or has access to.
The same person has very little business experience or ability to support what they sell. It is a lot better than what I thought, which is that this was a complete "take the money and run" operation. If I were you, I would give it a couple of weeks to see if your paper work shows up.
Did Fedex give any indication of where it shipped from? We know the address on the web site is bogus.

We know the address on the web site is bogus. I bet the guy who's "selling" these works at the motorcycle shop that lives at that address.

Kind of like my "competition" (he's no competition for me) who is a bartender and parks his scooters on the dock outside the bar with a sign on them. It "appears" to be legit and sold by the owners of the bar, but I know them personally and I know it's not.

Yes I have the address on a tag from off the crate: 1033 W North Bend Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45224 They still aren't answering the phones, or emails atleast not mine. Do you think they could of just got overwhelmed with orders...that would be a blessing if that was it, cause that would mean I may end up getting the certificate.

Just called the phone number. It's an automated (computer generated) voice. I find it humorous that they uncrate 20% of their inventory to inspect and adjust, then recrated and marked "ready to be shipped". What about the other 80%? One thing to consider: IT IS SUPER EASY TO GET A MERCHANT ACCOUNT WITH A LOCAL BANK! It is CHEAPER to use your local bank to accept credit cards than to be hit with Google's fees. If they do NOT have a merchant account to accept credit cards then there is a REASON. Bad credit, no credit, etc. It only took me one phone call and 2 days waiting for a credit check and I can accept credit cards with a reader. And the fees are about 1/3 of what Google charges. Stay AWAY from a company that accepts payment through Western Union. Unless it's the power company, most companies that use WU are scam companies. They are getting better at it, but generally there is no recourse when sending money that way for a purchase. You cannot get your money back once it has been picked up and Western Union is no help at all. To me it sounds like their "cap" on Google was really Google's fraud detection team working. They also deal with "Money Bookers": www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/moneybookerscom-c60652.htmlThat company is used almost as much as Western Union by scam artists. The website is a CHEAP template that has lots of pages but no information. The company is not reputable. This whole thing SCREAMS of a scam. I doubt you will EVER see your Certificate of Origin. Is it really necessary to register? In Maine all you need is a bill of sale (just say it's a personal sale) and a Dealer's Certificate if bought directly from a local dealer, like me. Greg

I think I may have fallen victim to this scootersurplus.com scam. All friendly and helpful when they took my money a week ago. They assured me the scooter was shipped etc...I just got off the phone with FedEx and they tell me that there is no potential package linked to my name or address. I feel so violated and stupid. I don't even know what to do next. Did anyone else notice the other results that came up when you searched "scooter surplus scam"? There seemed to be quite a few results, but the original pages are no longer valid. I was already in love with my scooter.

Before they got my money they were very communicative, email and phone. Unfortunately I paid via Western Union. They have not responded via phone or email since Monday.

Save the original emails. They may contain valuable information if you need to go to the authorities. (The headers may contain an IP address of the sender).
Since someone has actually received a scooter, I am less inclined to think this is a scam, and more leaning towards gross incompetence.
Hang in there mintobean. Your scooter may still show up. Whether or not you will be able to register it is still a question.
Good luck!

Thanks bigwink, I will try to keep my chin up, and I will be checking back here frequently (obsessively) to see if any new information comes to light. I'll be gathering all my paperwork during lunch and move forward with that, i guess a call to Western Union, check in w/ BBB, etc.
thanks so much

Here's my update....So far I have contacted my local news (one station already returned my call for a follow up), the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, BBB and my local police. Western Union and my bank are next to see if I have any protection. Ridingtotheend...i was just wondering how you paid for your scooter and what channels you went through to track it down.
