We are back looking again to get my wife an IceBear Tornado.
Tonight we stumbled across ScootersSurplus.com and WOW, they are significantly cheaper than anyone I have seen.
I cannot find any reviews on them, or listing on BBB.
I will have wife call tomorrow and talk to someone.
Please let me know if anyone has dealt with them.
Thanks!

I'm in a wheelchair so I needed a trike. Got my Ice Bear tornado from hotrodpocketbikes.com for $3995 shipped, based out of Tacoma WA. they shipped it from California, 610 miles on it so far. only issues I've had so far are a scrapped master cylinder cover that was damaged in shipping (just cosmetic damage) and the dash is in kilometers instead of miles per hour (I just asked if it had a button to change to mph and they sent out a new dash), they're sending me a new cylinder cover and a new dash in mph. also the latch broke off the glove compartment so they're sending a new door for it. Trike rides great, had it up to 65mph so far on the interstate, can't get enough of it, getting about 50-60 mpg in town and 70 mpg on the highway. I live in Vermont so a lot of big hills to climb.

The street address seems to align with a "J&J Motorsports" in Cincinnati, OH. You might look them up and call them directly and see what's up. The domain "scootersurplus.com" was registered on May 16, 2011, with an address in Chicago that does not exist, and an unlisted Indianapolis phone number.
And they're offering a Roketa 150 scoot for $515 shipped? I think I would be very careful with my money here.

When you click on buy now with Google Checkout, it says they are no longer accepting payments with google checkout. Odd..
I sent them a message and will call later today. I will keep you all posted.

Ok, phone message relates to Google Checkout issues. Sounds like growing pains. Google Checkout has a 100K monthly limit that they hit.

Looks fishy. Even for a Roketa a 150cc scooter dealer price will be higher than $599. A 250cc scooter dealer prices will be above $1099 even a Roketa. The better quality 250cc scooters dealer prices are usually $1700-$2300 before shipping. I would be wary of deals too good to be true.

The prices they are quoting are very similar to what the pre-shipping costs are from the factory/distributor in China. It takes a lot of $$ to bring those in. I just don't see how they can maintain any profit even if they are cutting out one or more middle men.
With that said, I am determined to find out what the deal is.

thanks, bigwink87, because if it turns out to be on the up and up it's a great deal! They're associated with brick and mortar? "J&J Motorsports" in Cincinnati, OH? Do you suppose this could be a super deal one time only thing? Enough scooters to sell for 6 mos or so then they're gone?

If its on the up and up i will buy a few at that price and resell them, i seriously doubt this is the real deal.

Sound like a typical Drop Shipper. From the warehouse to your door. NOTHING ELSE!!!! No warranty, No assembly no PDI. No returned calls if there is a problem etc.... Just be careful. I would look elsewhere IMO.

They say they are an AUTO MOTO CERTIFIED SELLER selling the 3 wheeler for $1,400 USD.
I spoke with the director of sales today from Auto Moto and they have no idea who they are and their calls and emails have not benn answered. The dealer price on a Auto Moto 3 wheeler is 2x what they are asking. People DON'T BE STUPID, these people are looking for stupid people... don't be one for you will be so sorry.

I guess it's time to "fess-up" The real reason we're being so skeptical is that Tim, from Carolina Fun Machines, and I are gonna buy up all their inventory. And then sell them back to unsuspecting fools.
How can we afford to do this? It's simple. Seems that Tim and I are somehow related... and that we had a hugely distant relative recently die in a small African nation . Yep, we're coming into some BIG BUCKs!!
This real nice Barrister and/or ministry official is helping with the money transfer. I just got back from Western Union....so it should be any time now.
I'll keep you posted.

So the seller is an alcoholic tennis player who is member of an alumni association that is planning a reunion for hospital members....it sounds possible

"Before I go, I just want you two to know something, alright? The supercop( Nigerian) story... was working. Okay? It was working, and you guys just messed it up. Okay? I'm trying to figure you guys out, but I haven't yet. But it's cool. You bad word up a perfectly good lie."

Just food for thought, As a new month started today there should be no Goggle Payment Limit. Then again thats the first time I ever heard that one anyway. Sounds more like something happened and this Drop Shipper is in the process of changing names/address/ storefront etc... Of course they may have been bought out of all inventory ;D ;D Everything should be fine cause I got an email from the president of Nigeria myself. Seems like a good deal. Oh and I found a great source for any Pharmaceuticals you may need. Pain killers Viagra etc... Just check your mail

The address corresponds with Danco Transmissions according to google maps and the yellow pages. I don't see any scooters in the picture, but then the picture might be a few years old. And the number Scoot Surplus gives can't be found in a reverse look up. This is Danco's number. 513 541 1800 If I had long distance, I'd call!

Heres my golden rule, if you contact a scooter place by phone and you get no answer or call back within a reasonable time, THERE OUT, Lets say you email them and ask questions about some scooter or part there selling, you get no reply within a reasonable time frame, THERE OUT, i refuse to gamble and buy something from a company that operates like this.

It is very easy to put up a website, it may be just a straight out scam, you pay they stall until they get enough money in their pockets and they are gone. If they do not have their address and location and a valid telephone Close the page and move on.
You can also call the Towns Police Department and ask them if it is a Legit business. Lefty

If I can, I'll call Danco's from work tomorrow. Just to see if they answer and what they say when I ask if they're a scooter place as well! Same address...
