I have recently been doing research on purchasing a scooter. One of the guys on this site found a Lance Milan at an amazing deal at mogosscooters.com. (He said right up front too that he had never dealt with this company so he could not vouch for them) Either way I decided to give them a try. Anyhoo I had started a phone and email conversation with Maureen. Her first quote to me include price of scooter + Tax + shipping. After reading the forums I found out tax should not be charged and her and I went back and forth, then eventually she said that I should be paying tax at my DMV and not to her. Later she told me the Lance Milan line was being discontinued however she was getting in a BMS line. I did some research and talked to some fellow scootdawg members and was ok with the company change. Best part was on her web site it said that scooter was free shipping too! So I get ready to order with her and she says it will be scooter plus + shipping. I point out it says free shipping on her site and this is the response I get: No free shipping. I am holding the price at $950.00 plus shipping. Take it or leave it! We are in full rental season and busy...please do not waste my time. Thx Mogos ________________________________________ Maureen Grindstaff Mogos Scooters 1213 US Highway 80 Unit N Tybee Island GA 31328 Phone: 912 786 8640 Fax 912 786 8646 email: mogosscooters@yahoo.com website: www.mogosscooters.com
I do not have a horrible buying experience from this company simply because I chose not to buy from them. Her attitude and customer support completely turned me off. Anyhoo nothing horrible but wanted to let the group know. I hope to be buying from another company this week. I will be sure to update everyone on that buying experience.

I'll second gsmotorworks, they will treat you right, they do stock parts, shipping is included, albieit they are slightly higher on their price. They also honor their warranties, call them and order over the phone, not via the Internet, they don't have a secure website.

GS doesn't return emails either! !!
I was very disappointed since I was considering doing business with them on the wholesale side, since we are looking for another brand to carry since Tank went by-by. The only reason I emailed them to start with is because of the praise that KZ had given them and thought I would give them a shot at my business. Very sad.

The free shipping is most likely already included in the price thats why they are higher. Its one of the oldest tricks in the book. Dealers make a nice profit on the shipping which is well known by many and especially if its a drop shipment which is shipped directly from the importer. Alleyoop

Alleyoop Not all dealers make a profit on shipping. I just pass on what it costs me no profit there. Jim

Shipping is part of the dealers profits side of the business. I don't know if you deal with importers directly but if you do that is one of the selling points the importer tells the dealers. The other more lucrative is Number of units commited by the dealer the more units the cheaper each unit to the dealer. Now I am not saying the profit on shipping is a lot because anyone can check what it cost to ship something from different parts of the states. If it comes from CA say to Chicago, it comes by rail then a shipper picks it up and delivers it to the customer. Anytime it can be transported by rail to a place near the delivery point that is the cheapest way to go. Alleyoop

You have to call them. I don't know if it's a problem for you Jim but busy sellers have trouble answering all their e-mails. If you want I'll have them get back to you. I know people.

I guess I am kinda odd in this regard, KZ. I make time to check my emails at least twice a day and figure that if a company has a contact page with an email contact form that they would check theirs also, otherwise what is the point of having it? Then maybe again, they don't want to bother with wholesale business. As I said I am looking for a replacement for Tank and just thought I would check them out.

I'll pipe in and kudo for www.mishipowersports.com dealer. They will take the scoot, open the crate from the Supplier, do your PDI, repack it, and ship it to you or if in the Dallas area, you can come pick up a PDI'd scooter. All you need to do is add gas and go.

When I last talked to John about that topic he said they welcomed the idea of dealers selling their scoots. I'll see if the story has changed and get someone to call you if it hasn't.
Edit: Talked to Steve. Hopefully he'll get to you soon.

This is the most unprofesional business I have ever dealt with. I owned a sign shop in their area. I made graphics for all of their scooters. I even delivered them myself. They were supposed to pay me the next day. I was told their accountant would mail the check. I waited and waited. I started calling them once a month. Each time I was told I would get the check next week. It's now been over 2 years. Still no check. They owe me just under $400.00.

Signmaker, Lesson learned, for things like that always require 50% down to cover the cost of your material and the rest when delivered. If they don't pay when you deliver take it back with you. Lots of Dead Beats out there.
Jim, I would not bother with them at all, if it takes a third party which DOES NOT EVEN WORK for the company to have someone return your phone call or email. That is a good indicator on how they would NOT respond if something went wrong, if they cannot respond to someone for more business. Alleyoop

Does your bill state that after so many days you start charging interest? Did you keep all the paperwork?

Well looking at the Mogosscooters website, it's the lamest bunch of crap I've seen! It's just a re-indexer, not a website at all. It has the crappy "site parking" code. I would NEVER even consider them to be a true business, just scam artists TRYING to appear legit.
If a website does't LOOK like it was coded by a real person, run away! If it looks like they spent 5 minutes using the *free tools* provided by any cheap web hosting company, run away! If it looks too good to be true, run away!

Its a real place though, I've been there. Its pretty much a big shack in a little community of other touristy shacks in a little local watering hole of a GA beach island that rents bikes and scooters. I wound up renting a scooter from the other bike rental, who made the mistake of buying a bunch of VIP's... lol
