I use either Mobil1 or Castrol. Usually, there's a sale price on one or the other at the local auto parts store.

Shell Rotella-T has been recommended time and time again in this forum, 15W-40 non-syn for the first 1k, then 5W-40 syn after that.

Mobil-1 At America West we set a record keeping an engine on wing, not requiring an overhaul for the equivelent of 7 1/2 round trips to the moon with Mobil-1. That's good enough for me, we've run Mobil-1 in all our vehicles for 20 years.

All of the above mentioned oils are excellant and just a few weeks ago I did some testing with different brands and tested Mobile 1 and Castrol and for whatever reason don't ask me but the Castrol ran 5 degrees cooler than the Mobile 1. When it comes time to change oils again I am going to temp test the Rotella and compare. JRR

Any 10w-40 or 15w-40 synthetic; any. I don't think I've ever (or will ever) heard someone say, "Well hold on there pardner, if you use THAT brand of 15w-40, yer engine will darn near blow up!" All modern oils meet the requirements necessary for our scoots; just get the right weight.

howdy, nice to see you on here JRR---what's fer dinner?
i use mobile 1 in all my vehicles since 1975. it has been tested and does as well as amsoil and better than royal purple. i have been using the 5w-40 designed for diesel trucks in all my scoots and had terrific results.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya

I use Mobil1 Racing 4T 10w40 in my 54B and have since my odometer=0 and broke-in hard (not crazy-hard). I changed oil every 300 miles until I no could no longer see a bunch af metalic flakes in the waste oil (about 3 changes), then once at 600 miles and every 1,000 after that. Now having logged nearly 5,000 miles, it runs like a happy dream. Hits 75+ with no problem.

AMSOIL 20-50 (Phornix hot weather - often over 105 deg from June to September) Even the winters seldom get down below freezing in the valley.

what ever is on sale when i buy 4 or 5 gal jugs, the oil isnt in there long enough to truly matter, since there is no oil filter it has to be changed often.

I've used the Shell Rotella Synthetic T in all of my bikes with great results for years, however my Yamaha Majesty book says to not use Diesel truck oil. They believe there is an additive in it that may harm the catalitist in the muffier. I plan to use Mobil-1 synthetic in the Majesty when it's time.

I run Royal Purple, it is pretty spendy but you are only using one quart at a time, why not get good stuff. Have run it 4000 miles in my SYM and still looks brand new, with nearly same consistancy. It has pretty good documentation to back up its claims and price justification.
