well this is more or less a re-do of the "eye candy tears" thread. I had to powdercoat the scooter once again because the candy purple color did not do well against gasoline.... yes this was yet another expensive lesson but I am happier with the way she looks now. For those who did not see the previous thread this is a quick re-cap
These photos are where I left off...and these photos are the "new-do"
A Closer look at the new foot pegs!!!
the coler is called "ILLUSION GREEN" and it actually takes on very different shades as you walk around the bike.
NEW PLASTIC CUSTOM PAINT BY MYSELF...PEARL WITH GECKOS
Now a couple shots of your humble narrator...
The reason I love to scoot!!!!
Hope everyone enjoyed the photos....time to ride for a while!! Take care and have some fun....

Very good job done .
FYI if you ever paint these things and are painting in an area were gas can get on them do not use spray cans. Spray can paint just does not hold up to fuel spills well at all. Use automotive grade paint. You can ask for advice from an automotive paint dealer, they may have a specific spray can paint that will hold up, but the stuff you get at the local hardware store or at Autozone/Cragen/O'Rielly's just is not going to do well. This is from personal experience and from consulting professional painters.

Belive it or not medman....the paint that was deteriorating was not spraypaint.....it was the top layer of the candy color POWDERCOAT. You wouldnt think a powdercoat would act like that but the thin layer of translucent purple could not stand up to the petrol.
THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENTS!!!

I guess you know now there are many different types if powder coat and you need to get one that will stand up to your usage. Tell the powder coat shop what it has to resist and hope they know what they are doing. I hope they gave you a big break on the 2nd job after putting a coat on the 1st one that wouldn't hold up to gasoline.
Modern paint is a plastic, powder coat is plastic. You can do things with powdercoat that you can't with paint because powdercoat doesn't require solvents, but it's not a miracle.

I'm curious about a couple of things.
Did you consider using a motorcycle type headlight and doing away with the front end plastics? And why is the added frame support brace not symmetrical? It looks like you have two different bends for each side.
that seat was painful. hes got a new one now that looks and feels much better. i think he is a little indesposed right now. he's putting is 63 kit together. i suspect that on monday we will have a 90mph scooter at the shop.
does all the special paint make it go faster or are you going for laughs what kind of moron would do something like this ? no offense but DAMN man what you thinking ? looks like something a wetback would pull
It's not 'special paint' it's powder coated, and no it's not to make it go faster it's to preserve the frame. It also looks clean, which I'm sure you know nothing about sc00tg0d.

If you need it to come from a can, Krylon Fusion isn't too bad and sticks to clean plastic well. Remember - the only way to get a decent finish with spray paint is lots and lots of really thin layers, like dusty sprinkle-thin, and let every layer dry completely before putting on the next one.
And it will never, ever look as good as the powder coat on the gecko's frame. That's just what a rattlecan can't do.
