One thing too, what is the state of your battery? Could be just that your battery is faulty/flat and when the extra cooling fan current drain comes on in traffic the battery can't cope, the voltage drops and the computer goes into a "limping home" mode. Take your scoot to a automotive battery shop/auto-electrician and get him to check the battery. Easy if you remove the cover in the seat bucket before you take it as they have a tester they clamp onto the battery and do the test on the spot.
I have a voltmeter attached to my battery -- it reads about 12.6V when I start my bike. Never had any problems starting the bike (except when I've lost power)...
1.) air thru the radiator OK a) radiator clean -- gonna do that tomorrow (too cold tonight) b) cooling fan operational -- fan does come on and off 2.) coolant in radiator a) all air out of system -- gonna try and do that tomorrow b) enough coolant in system -- gonna top up with 5050 c) circulation - i) water pump working, here we trust the mechanic checked it out right & we assume it's OK as you can ride the scoot on the open road with no problems. ii) thermostat opening - Now this we don't know, but for now we assume it's operating as it should. Very easy to take out and check but we'll get to that later if needs be. iii) restricted flow due to dirt/corrosion in cooling system - we assume for the moment that it's OK in that department too. We'll get to that later if you need to check the thermostat.
While we're checking this do take note of the wires of the two sensors right at the little pipe and make sure they are not squashed or gently pull on the plugs to make sure they are plugged in properly.
I will certainly check all this. BUT I have to get some extra tools first -- I couldn't unscrew the seat pan bolts with just my bit driver -- need to get an extension for my ratchet!
Thanks u guys!!! While SYM continues to waffle around, I have a feeling you guys will help me out much better.

I have a voltmeter attached to my battery -- it reads about 12.6V when I start my bike. Never had any problems starting the bike (except when I've lost power)... what does the headlight do when you loose power? do they dim? 1.) If they do then it still could be the battery playing up when it gets hot or when the current is drawn by the cooling fan. Auto-electricians can test with a battery tester that puts a load on it. 2.) other thing is that you could have a short to the cooling fan, which causes excessive current to be drawn. Easy to check. Open the glove-box and fuse cover on left side. Look for the foggy/fan fuse. have a pair of pliers ready to pull the fuse. Now run the scoot untill it gets hot, let the fan run and check that the temperature comes down to normal, check to make sure you are in the "power loss mode". Now pull the fan fuse and check if it still is in the "power-loss mode". What does the lights do when you pull the fuse. Switch the scoot off before it gets too hot and boil (that's not good for the engine at all). Now I've given you enough homework to do. Let us know what you find. Don't worry, we'll get there. Yep, the headlights dim when I'm in power-loss.
Do you mean to pull the fuse when the fan is still running and when the temperature gauge is high, or only when I have entered the limp home mode?

Ha, that says something. No don't pull fuse when temperature high, only when your in the limp home mode. We don't want the engine to overheat and boil as that's not good for the engine. Let the engine come back to normal temperature while it is still in powerloss/limp mode. Now pull fuse. Does the lights brighten up? Does it snap back into normal power mode. Switch scoot off before engine overheat. If scoot snaps back to normal mode it looks like a voltage to the EFI thing. Repeat the above, but check the battery voltage the whole time with your multimeter. It should stay above 12V.

Hi Kiwi , No I have not tested these halogen lamps on a scooter but reviews of motorcyclists on them are good I am very fond of powerful LEDs now in the design stage is additional coverage for high-power LEDs firm Seoul, the company CREE, with a total luminous flux 1800-2500 Lumens

Do you mean the mounting plate for the topbox? Givi (from Italy) makes a very good one which I have. The mounting plate will take any topbox. When you buy a Givi topbox is will either be a Monokey or Monolock topbox and the right mounting will be supplied with the box. The mounting then gets fitted to the mounting plate. This is the Givi site: www.givi.it/My-motorcycle/?ma=SYM&mo=Citycom-300-08--09happy scooting. Kiwiscoot - from dark wet cold new Zealand

Storage Box This is the accessories that Carter Brothers offers to new owners of the Citycom 300i. I got tired at looking at the missing trim between the tail lights. With that storage box you must remove the rear cover assembly to install the rack that holds the box. There is no way to reinstall the rear cover assembly without drilling holes. That is what I did. I removed the carrier handle to use as a template to drill the two holes into the rear cover assembly (trim between the tail lights). It worked great and now I don't have to look at the exposed area between the tail lights. That may not be necessary on all racks but it is necessary if you use the Carter Brothers promotion accessories (USA only). Here is a picture of the finished product.

Tomitas -Yes I would've called the bottom structure a topbox carrier, but everywhere I've looked they call it a mounting plate?? Is your topbox a Givi box?? If it is then you will either have a Monokey or Monolock box which needs either the Givi SR231 or SR231M mounting plate/carrier. My guess your topbox is not a Givi, then you can order either of those (cheapest ) and throw the Givi topbox part away. Now to confuse things more, I bought the Givi Topbox and it had the adapter plate with it. I ordered the mounting plate/carrier seperate and it had no specific Monokey/Monolock adapter plate with it. Just the bare carrier. IMHO the Givi carrier looks better than all the others I've seen. It does not have the supports that cover the backlights. With the mounting instructions is a templatefor drilling the holes in cover piece between the lights. Hope this helps. Kiwiscoot - very wet scooting today

The only part the got two holes drilled was the small trim piece that screws on between the tail lights. If I ever removed the rack I could order a replacement trim piece

Even two black plastic bungs would cover the holes if one were to remove the rack. They would not look visible and would look like it is meant to be like that. furshore - thanks for the pix of your carrier. Do you have the Carter Bros screen on too. I would love to see a close-up of it. Kiwiscoot - where we have a weather-bomb and it is wet, wet, wet.

Here are some pictures of the wind screen. It attaches the same way that the orginal one attaches. You will note that on either side it has velco attachments. I wish that was a little better looking but it seems to work. Hope that helps. I really like the additional height because I am 6'1".

I like your screen more than the Givi. The winglets on the side of the screen is bigger and will give your hands more protection. They are smaller on the Givi screens. Great looking scoot. Kiwiscoot
