that is the engine scootdoggydawg. comes with carb, coil, regulator. and cdi. the only difference between the picure you see and the motor that comes out of the actual box when it arrives is the cvt cover is black)

The most likely cause of your battery dying is that the 4 pin regulator does not work with the 11 coil stator. The 11 coil is 3phase while the others are monophase. It sort of works but will only put out about 8vdc since your essentially cutting out a bank of coils by hooking up the 4 pin regulator to it. This is the regulator you need: www.partsforscooters.com/Regulator_7pin_GY6?sc=9&category=603It takes a little bit of rewiring but once setup dumps 14v at idle and 16v at full rev into your battery. I have not had my battery even go below 90% charge since I hooked this up. You can also run HID lamps after the conversion is complete, something that is not possible with the lesser electrical systems Good thing is that the 11 coil is pure honda stuff, so its known to be reliable and true. Since the 7 pin comes with no wiring diagram I spent hours researching and looking at older honda wiring diagrams that use this type of stator and finally mapped the pinouts correctly. its good to know they are selling this engine again they didnt have it for a while $259+$95s&h with an 11 pole stator and carb is an awesome deal

I'm looking into this engine as well. Just sent them an email. I wanted to upgrade my stator but as it turns out buying the whole engine with the pre-installed 11 pole stator isn't that much more expensive!

Kink, that's probably a better idea. I just hit the 3k mile mark with the engine and still haven't had to touch the engine. Even the intake manifold hasn't cracked, although I will probably check the valves soon, since my MPG is down to 50. This past weekend I went to change the belt and ended-up not really needing to. I couldn't believe how clean the CVT was, even after riding all winter and will probably buy another one this spring, for use in the future.

After hitting the 3500 mile mark on the engine, and taking a long ride this weekend, it started to get bit "sluggish". So, I did the cleaning in the carb, changed the air filter, fuel filter and finally did the valves. But, I am just amazed it took 3500miles and riding all winter, before feeling any downside of the engine. One of the other things I started to notice was the MPG, and it got down to 50 last week. But, all is good now with the cleaning. Enjoy the Spring & Summer Riding!

This is a great thread on swapping the GY6 Engine assembly. Amazing detail and really a learning experience...like the subtle stator electrical change and the conversion from drum brake to disc brake...
