the kits will fit but the bigger kits 100cc and 110cc kit need a bigger head or stock head with two base gaskets, you can get kits cheap on ebay for 50 bucks head and all but scrappys kits are much better quality especially if you get the smaller kit and use the stock head.

So if I keep the stock head and get the 80cc kit it will work?

However the 50mm assembly comes with a bigger head so that would work too right?

yes that would work also, cost more but worth it, switched from an ebay kit to scrappys kit, big performance increase. You can use your stock head with the 80cc kit no problems

So the kit came in today and I got it all installed okay... Then this happened...I cannot find anything online as to which wire goes where. I've looked at pinouts and a few color diagrams but have no clue.

Sorry to double post but I figured out the wiring myself and got it running and idling! The problem is, I tried to take it for a short ride and it wont go past 10-11mph. I had this issue before the big bore kit so I think I can rule out the top end. I think the problem lies in the CVT.
EDIT: Tested petcock working fine. Checked all of my wiring. Did a compression test. I'm about ready to go on a parts buying spree to fix this thing.

I bought a performance variator, sliders, torque spring, and a new starter. I needed the starter because the stock starter can barely turn over my big bore. Hopefully it'll be able to break 10 mph after this

If it only goes 10 mph something is really wrong, you mean 10 mph uphill?

Post by conorabc on Feb 6, 2013 16:56:07 GMT -5
Pretty much 10-17 on a flat and even worse uphill. I had this problem before the big bore kit too. I just wanted to rule out the top end. I have a new variator on the way so we'll see if that's the problem.

what about the belt?

Post by conorabc on Feb 6, 2013 19:32:18 GMT -5
The belt looks okay. There's some rubber dust in the cvt case. The belt looks okay though. Anything I should be looking for? Should I replace the stock belt with a gates anyway?

It is from this pageI have been reading this thread and had a question for Millsc. I do have the 139QMB 50cc in my TaoTao CY50A, and if I am reading this correctly...This should work for my stock scoot as well with no other mods? What about with the stock carb or air filter. Will these be fine with the 80cc kit?

So I was told the 139QMA that my baja sc50 has is different in that it has 2t transmission parts. I read on scrappydog that the sc50 needs the 836-17-30.
However the belt in my sc50, when I removed it says 669 18 30.
Did I have the wrong belt this whole time?

Id probably get a new carb if no a/f screw, your stock carb may have plate over the screw that you can drill out.

The late model Baja's started using a normal 139qmb just before Pep Boys stopped (forced) to stop selling them. The Baja anomoly engine is easily identified by the engine code QJ1P39QMB-3, which I think is stated in the tech article on scrappydogscooters.com. If you've got the 139qma, then you can use normal qmb parts. Be careful with some of the cheap Ebay carbs. Many of them are the small 16mm venturi types which are pencil thin and bad for performance. They also use poor rubber parts like o-rings and diaphrams that get hard and crack when exposed to ethanol, which is in most fuels now days.

Thank you very much, I was confused as I got a reply from tech@scrappydogscooters saying I had the special engine, but was confused as I didn't have the matching engine code. Cheers!

Checked that one out. I dont see a a/f mixing screw..is it under the brass colored cap?

It could be under under the brass plug, not the brass part that sticks out on the side, it will be flat.

What is the most accepted way to break in a bbk? I've heard that you need to baby it for 100 miles, and I've also heard you need to run it hard.

Hi Its the same as breaking in a new stock engine Try not to run wot for extended periods of time until shes broken in and vary the throttle setting and speeds while riding for the first few hundred miles Take care and ride safely Yours Hank
