Hey Dawg, I'm repling to the posts from gary2gs that says his Peg is "stumbling, flat spot and won't go over 30mph" and since gary2gs bought his from CBXMan when I checking out the site under the CBX Difference I was under the impression that during the "20 point check" which includes the "test riding all their vechicles" they should be able to catch those drivability problems? Toyota does in fact "test" each car for drivability problems at the factory during the "Rolls Test" And I certainly did NOT say "Pegs are plagued with problems" Out of this 8 page blog I asked what I felt was one legit question Sorry, who. I didn't mean to sound like you said it was plagued with problems. I was referring to a couple other posts also and perhaps used bad wording. I wasn't paying enough attention to realize that gary purchased from CBX. In some ways I get a little defensive about some people & companies in the industry because I've gotten to know them and have a good concept of the problems they have and how they try to deal with them. I'm going to update on the condition of my Peg now as I've had it almost a year. I rode pretty hard today in 90 degrees for a couple hours and the temp guage went higher than I've seen before. It was at about 3/4. I still pretty much keep it parked outside and it's seen plenty of rain. I'm noticing that the body panel screws are starting to show a little rust. I'll replace them with stainless screws probably but it's not a big problem. I'm also noticing a little surface rust on the metal mirror stems but it's not showing much. Hit the highway and opened her up for the first time in a while. It was fairly windy today and I could only hit about 62-63. I probably should check the air in the tires and she is due for an oil change. It's time to move her into a proper parking place in the garage.

I am very close to buying a 2008 Pegasus ($1800). After a few miles what kind of fuel milage (@50mph) and top speed can I expect?

My Pegasus will get up to 60+ mph. Flat out straight away. I weight about 180 lbs.
The average speed limit around here is 35. I usually ride about 4 miles one way to town then the return trip. Stop signs and traffic lights along the way. The scooter has about 300 miles on it and I get about 60-65 mpg. The scooter still needs another 300 miles of hard break-in before I can really judge the mileage and top speed.
$1800 sounds like a great price when the MSRP is around $2700. Where did you find it? Is that delivered and prepped?

The dealer in Springdale, Ar. is having a sale and the price includes out the door ready to ride price. There is not a dealer close by and I still haven't decided I don't want to spend a little more and find a used Honda Reflex. The Pegasus sure sounds great and I plan to go the Springdale (about 200 miles) on Tuesday to check it out.

The price is right! I have seen that scooter priced very close to $3,000, as well as the CFMoto E-Charm, which doesn't appear to have the QLink warranty and support. (No comments on that please). All things said, I think it would be a good idea to have the dealer pull the head and CHANGE the bolts with NEW ones. There have been some issues (overheating and dire consequences from that) with a few of these scooters that seem to come back to some of the head bolts being to long to seat the head properly. Even if you buy the bolts and do it yourself I think it is very cheap insurance... not trying to rain on your parade at all, I would buy the scooter in a heartbeat at the price they are asking. The problem I mention is RARE, but not unheard of... so that is just one dawgies opinion... ;D;@

Does the Pegasus odometer read in miles or kms?

On my 2007 the odometer reads in km. The speedometer reads mph.

I think it reads in Kms. I've been meaning to ask this myself. I have a Peg and the speedometer says mph but then in the middle (just above the odometer) its says KM.
And I especially wonder about all of the folks who post their MPG. Are they converting their odometer reading, or are they using GPS?
As far as my mpg, I keep forgetting to write my mileage (kilometerage) down when I gas up. I miss the trip odometer that most cars have :-) VERY roughly, I'm getting about 90-100 kmpg. I just checked the conversion (1 km = .62 mi) so that would be about 60 mpg. This number is based on my observation I have filled up 4 times in 430 km. And each time I fill up I put about a gallon in.
Like I said, a rough estimate only.
I have not experienced the overheating problem. Is the shop close to you if you should need warranty work? Or do you have a bike trailer or a pickup truck to take it in if you needed to?
Good luck,
Bear

Hello Scootdawgs,
I myself own a silver Peg 150 w/ windshield and it has been doing very well for me. I run my Peg pretty hard and it has never gotten past the 1/2 mark on the temp guage, never overheats. It is quick on the take off and have it up to 65mph (verified) so far and it is not even broken in yet (500+ Km). Though my fuel guage is off, it reads almost empty when there is little over a gallon left. Either way, I know when it is that low I have at least another 5 days left before I actually get close to running empty.
Though recently while my Peg was parked on the main stand, we had a very strong breeze come thru and took my Peg down (tears in my eyes....sniff, sniff). Anyways not too bad, broken top box, bent rear brake lever and a couple of scratches on the front fender. Not a scratch on the body (top box & brake lever took the brunt of the fall).
Anyways, my dealer is 950mi away and don't trust the local dealer (who is closing this week). I want to know if there is any way I can get a copy of the service manual for the Peg 150 (digital or paper), so that I can do basic repairs? Any help would be appreciated?
Thanks Dawgs

QLINK will sell service manuals directly to consumers if you give them a call. Just bear in mind that if you service it yourself you will void the warranty.

Hey Dawg, How many miles do you have on your Pegasus now? Have you started it in "cold weather"? How go you park it, seems strange to have to open the trunk to set the parking brake.

Why would it seem strange to open the seat to set the brake? Most scoots don't even have a brake. I confess that I don't ride under 40 degrees but I do go out and start her up. She's fine.

Both of my scooters have parking brakes. The Burgman has it by your right knee while the Morphous has it on the handlebar. Having it under the seat would prevent somebody from messing with it when parked. It sounds like a good idea.

I bought a CF MOTO E Charm. What is the difference between my scooter and the Pegasus?

I bought a CF MOTO E Charm. What is the difference between my scooter and the Pegasus? Very little difference. Made at the same plant. Same engine. QLINK has a few specs they provide for their production runs and they have advisors at the plant. That's about it.

Went to my local Diamo/Italjet Dealer and the Torino from Diamo and the Torpedo from Italjet are pretty much the same idea as the Pegasus and E-charm as well. Hopefully there will be no more cooling problems and any issues have been resolved with this design. It is one of the best all around designs out there. Good handling and ride, better than average power for a 150, and still a reasonable value.

I just sold my e-charm so I could get a 250 commuter. It had 1800 miles with no problems except battery. I agree with all the comments that are positive here. I got a consistent 75 mpg (110) km per gal. Speed here in Cody WY, elevation 5100 ft was in the 65 mph 55 cruise when the wind isn't blowing at me. I'd recommend the Pegasus/echarm to anyone looking for an around town/back road scoot.

I was ready to go out and buy the Peg, then I looked at the factory web site, and they list the power as less than 9, and a top end of 53 mpg. What gives? That kind of power is not going to pull the wife and I at more than 40 mph, and I am 10 miles from town. Are we looking at a day trip? Jim

There are scoots that look like the Peg that have those stats, but the real Peg is rated 12+ and 40 mph with five passengers isn't even breaking a sweat. Mine will easily do 60 on a bad day and hit 70 on a good day. It's the fastest 150 I've ever ridden.

He's right. At qlinkmotor.com they do list it with the wrong HP. They need to fix that. The CFmoto site gets it right.
Anyways, I am new here and writing my first post. I just recently got my Peg after much deliberation (and reading this entire thread). Picked it up from my local dealer, Metric-Cycles, who are just a mile down the street - NICE. They are fairly new but are a nice brick and mortar shop with a lot of years in the motorcycle business.
I've just got about 100km on it so far. It is a smooth ride. The streets here in Tulsa are atrocious, so a big-wheel scooter was a must for me. This is my first scooter. I really appreciate having a forum like this to discuss and find tips and tricks.
Alright, here is my question. I've noticed that any riding speed once I get past 20mph or so the ride is great, but a steady throttle at about 10-15mph feels a little jerky sometimes. Is this due to it being the break-in period or is it just the gearing and it will always be that way?
It really isn't much of an annoyance, just wandering.
Thanks

berk,
That activity can be due to several things, being new MIGHT have a little to do with it, but I would check my fuel lines for splits or poor connections. Often you will find one with a kink in it too. Restricts the fuel flow when it is under low pressure just enought to do that. While you are prowling around, the vacuum lines can be checked as well, same scenario, splits, kinks, bad fittings all can make the engine perform that way.
Other things to look at if that is not the problem: trash in the fuel tank or fuel filter... stuff does get in the gas tanks, got no idea how, but folks find trash in them on a regular basis. Manifold, check it for tight fit any leak there can cause hesitations, also the diaphragm in the manifold chould have a split or even a tiny hole that can mess things up.
Those are the "usual suspects" for this type of thing. Before we go further, see if anything mentioned here is the problem.
Hope we have a solution! Enjoy the ride! ;D

Berk-
I was at Metric yesterday looking at the scooters!!! Small world! I am riding a Schwinn Campus 50cc now, love it, but hate the top speed of 40mph on a good day! Plus, the Tulsa streets are crazy bad, and I have to avoid the holes with the small tires/wheels.
I think its time to sell the small scoot and get one of these. Wish they came in BLACK!
Thanks for all the info on-line here! First time post, but been reading stuff for several weeks! Happy scooting everyone.....Chris, Tulsa

It's the one year anniversary with the Pegasus. I have had it for over a year, but it's been a year since its coolant problems manifest, with no solution in sight. There have been four attempts at the 'fix', the last greatly improved the problem but did not eliminate it. It has gone from a 'gush' to a trickle, or 'dribble'. Picture of leaking Peg www.geocities.com/rv5r/pegcoolantThe picture shows the result of 35 - 45mph trip to the store and back up the hill to my house, 5 mile round trip. I was told that a new engine would be coming in April. Now, it is supposed to be next week. This just further reinforces my love/hate with my Peg. I love the scooter, but I hate the fact that I can't use it as intended.

w0ace-
Glad to see a fellow Tulsan on this site.
Like I said before, I am happy with the performance of my Peg so far. My fuel guage is a little hinky. Once you get to 3/4 tank it points to the E. Looks like someone else here has had the same thing happen. Talked to the dealer and he said they'd replace the float in the tank whenever I want to bring it in. I'll probably wait until the first service period.
Rerun2- I appreciate the tips. Those are good practical things to check. Stuff even I (not too mechanically inclined) can do.
I also talked to the dealer about the slight hesitation that can happen when giving it steady throttle at a very low speed. He said the Pegs and Commuters do that due to them running so lean at that speed.

Asked about my change to commuter. Been waiting for 4 weeks and am optimistic it will arrive soon. I'm a little worried that I have to drive it 125 miles fom where I pick it up. 10 miles of this is 75 mph, the rest is 65mph. Geetee who lives in Lovell had a coolant Tee break on his Commuter and ruined his engine. I just hope I can get my Commuter home to check all its innards out. About my echarm, twin to the pegasus. I put a label on my odometer casing remindind me .62 x km = mi. I found that I could safely go 200 km on a tank of gas so I fillled up at an even 200 km and watched my odometer to fill up, not my gas gauge.
