Highly doubt you will have any problems with an iridium plug. You will see a performance increase since they do not shift their gap as much as a standard plug does over time, nor does it breakdown as much as a standard as well. If you have one available put it in. I saw the difference right away on my Xciting, the gap on the factory plug had already shifted in 300 miles, no problems now after 1500 miles on this plug. Tom

Sorry to hear that 09 cost of $5,600. I wonder if folks look around they might find some 08s for much less than $5,000? I am fortunate to say that I got lucky here in So Cal and found one about 2 weeks ago. GOOD LUCK>

Are the '09s fuel injected by any chance?? Not that it really matters, $5,600 is out of my league.

It looks like s great scooter. But....my 250B gets 68mpg at mostly 60mph speeds, cost less than 1/2 of that, and price of $5500 for a 250cc wow.... I'm sure my 250B in overall quality and life expectantancy and definitely performance cant compare to this. Not trying to slam any owners it maybe the ultimate 250cc, but for $700-800 more you can get a Burgy 400 or a Majesty. If I was to pony up that kinda money, I think I'd opt for the bigger bike, just my opinion.

Another interesting option in this class of scoots is the Hyosung NMS-3 250. Fuel injected, 4 valves per cylinder, 13/14 inch wheels. The local dealer says the '09s will be arriving in October - he's guessing they'd sell for around $3,900. That's considerably cheaper than the Sym or the Kymco.

have you guys noticed the 2 little screw holes covered with a rubber plug beside the brake fluid containers? looks like a spot where you could screw in add'l mirrors Also if you shine a flashlight where the gauges are, you can see various other things that light up in addition to the battery light, the low fuel lite, etc.
as you can tell, i've been bored this morning so went out to look at Big Blue

Has anyone had trouble installing a Battery Tender on a SYM RV 250? The problem that we are running into is that by the time you get it hooked up, there is not enough room to put the battery cover on, and close the dash without warping.
Has anyone run into this before? If so, what did you do? Any help would be appreciated.

Melody, are you able to extend the battery connection wires so you can plug it is around the wheel well area? Hope that helps. Tom

Just curious why you need a battery tender in the first place. Will your scoot be sitting outside unused for long periods? If not, he scoot's charging system should keep the battery charged just fine.

If not, he scoot's charging system should keep the battery charged just fine. Right now there is a short in the trunk light switch, and it stays on all the time. Parts are on order. But in Oregon we get so much rain, and I may not be able to ride for some time. So my husband said the battery tender will prolong the life of the battery.

melodys39 - If you have a 12V cigerlighter type outlet and it's wired directly to the battery, you can charge the battery through the outlet. Just connect the charger leads to a cigarlighter plug that has a cord attached and plug it in. Make sure that the red charger wire goes to the center prong on the plug.

Why not just pull out the light from the trunk?? Problem solved until the short is fixed.
Also, you can replace the standard light bulb with an LED bulb and the power draw will NOT drain your battery when you do get out to ride it (if you really need the extra light before the replacement parts come in).
Oregon has some sweet views, you are going to love riding around. Tom

Thanks, Tom. Thats exactly what I did. Actually I disconnected the wiring harness, and now I don't have to worry about it. The only light on is an indicator light on the dash, and I don't think that will cause too much drain on the battery.

We found a plug that already had the battery tender plug on the end, and it worked. The light on the battery tender is green. Thank you for your ideas.

My SYM RV250 had adjustable rear shocks according to the manual. I didn't ever get to try and adjust the shock before it got totaled though. So, they maybe hope for a softer ride, if that is what you prefer. We doubled a lot and for that reason I thought about making it a little softer but I was also afraid that it would cause it to bottom out on a pot hole or large bump. The SYM has the best center gravity of any scooter I have ridden and it handled very well. If you needed to lock up the brakes you didn't have to be afraid of doing it either. I did find the suspension a little hard.

I did find the suspension a little hard. We were told by the dealer that the shocks come pre-set on the middle setting, with a total of 5 different settings. My husband put them all of the way down, because I have short legs. And the ride is not too hard, it's just right. I'm sorry to hear about your scoot, I hope you are ok!
