Hello,
I just bought my first Scooter, its a orange 2008 50cc Genuine Buddy for my wife ( & me ). Im kinda new to this scooter thing, any dos and don'ts would be helpful here.
I've been told not to open it wide untill broken in, whats the braking in point?
Should I keep it restricted or unrestricted it?
What 2 cycle oil should I use in it?
How often do I change the motor oil?
What grade of gas should I use in it?
Any more advice would greatly be appreciated!
Thanks Kevin

Hi Kevin, You are a step ahead of me :-) I have yet to buy my scooter. As to your questions; you might want to post them in the 50cc scooters and up forum. Also look around in the tips and tricks forum. I have read a lot about the Genuine scooters and they seem to be a great scoot.
good luck,

216.219.217.96/break_in_secrets.htmSecrets to good break in of any engine. Read, do, enjoy. Read the article in it's entirety. Twice. Do what the man says. Enjoy your new scoot! And more advice, start saving for another bigger scoot. 150cc or so. Look up 'addictive; in the dictionary and there is a pic of a scoot. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Well, if it's a 2 stroke, you don't change the motor oil. There's a really good thread on oil in the 2 stroke forum you should check. I've done one de-restriction on mine (washer in the variator) but gonna wait until it's fully broken in to do more. For breaking in, I'm driving it like I'm gonna drive it normally with plenty of WOT but just not staying the same RPMs for very long at a time. Gas grade, Ive heard a bunch of varying opinions so I'm still experimenting with that one. I notice no difference between the middle and high grades though.
Welcome Kev.
