I posted something in the General Forum area a while back about a new scooter dealership here in Central Ohio. The name of the business is called The Kickstart (http://thekickstart.net/default.html) and they already score high in my book.
This past Monday, a friend of mine at work rode in like normal. He tried to start his scooter (iRoadRunner) to go home at night but it just would not fire. He was having a helluva time with it and eventually gave up. He called his wife and left the scooter overnight in the Company (heavily patrolled) lot. The next day he tried again and got nowhere. I gave him the number to Kickstart and he called. The first thing they asked him when he told them his scoot was dead was "Are you okay? Do you need help getting your scooter to us?" He told them he was at work. They said they would be out to pick up his scooter. They also told him that once it was ready they could drop it off at his home if he liked.
I asked my buddy if they said anything about charging him to pick up the scoot and he said no. They may later work that into the bill but we'll see what happens. I know the cost of gas is causing problems with everyone who operates a business but even if the cost of gas is worked into his bill, it will be worth it
I was completely blown away by the customer service that Kickstart offered. The other scooter dealerships here in town will not even mention anything like this and expect you to bring the scooter in to them.
I called Kickstart and actually talked to the guy (mechanic, by the name of Bob) who picked up the scooter. I told him that I was very impressed when I had the chance to talk to the owner (Chris) several weeks back but they have already have my loyalty and they have yet to service anything for me. I have already recommended or referred a ton of people to them when it comes time for them to buy a scooter. The mechanic thanked me. I also told him about his competitor and how they just don't have it together compared to Kickstart. This competitor was essential right around the corner from him on W. 5th Ave. and he said they have heard the same thing from a multitude of people.
I posted a request here a few weeks ago requesting help because of a damaged oil filter cap. Long story short, I was sold a defective cap for $16 by this competitor and had to end up patching the hole in it so the oil would not leak. I had called and was told they had filter caps so I raced to the other side of town before they closed and ended up with something that was really no better than what I started out with. I am very disappointed with this dealer because I thought this was "the place" for scooters. They are just too unorganized and they don't really seem to care about customer service. In a time where service matters, especially when scooters are really starting to pick up in popularity, I do feel bad for this dealer.
If you're looking for a good deal on a scooter with GREAT service, go to Kickstart. They are already way ahead of the curve when it comes to what matters most.
