Sort of. Home is near Florence, but I've been working out-of-state for 18 months. I saw you in other threads and figured I'd get around to asking you whereabouts you're from, but this thread here looks just perfect.

Off-topic here, but I just noticed that Bama Motor Sports in Muscle Shoals is listed as a dealer by Lance. Do you have any experience with them? Or any other Chinese-friendly bike shops in the vicinity?

Hi folks,
I live in florence near 7 points. I'm 56 this week and I just bought a lance venice 150 from bama motor sports about two weeks ago for my birthday. They seem pretty good so far. I had one problem with my scoot so far. The bolt holding the front fender and muffler together fell out. They replaced it immediately without question. The facemask on my helmut also broke, I've only had it 3 days, so its going back today as well. They told me to bring the bike back @ 300 miles to change the oil and they would look it over. I got a 1 year / 12000 mile parts and labor warranty. The bike cost about $2,000.00. This is my first experience with a bike.
So what kind of scooters do ya'll have?

I live in florence near 7 points. I'm 56 this week and I just bought a lance venice 150 from bama motor sports about two weeks ago for my birthday. Happy birthday and congratulations on the scoot. I know the 7 points area very well. A 150 will be very nice for getting around the Shoals area, and when you get good and confident you can ride on over to Huntsville. Oh -- you know what the best ride would be? Either north or south on the Natchez Trace. No trucks, low speed limit. That would be a lot of fun; well within the means of a 150cc. Go out to Colbert Ferry at south end of the Trace bridge over Pickwick and pick up a map; or you can also download a PDF from the National Park Service. If you're planning to go north on the Trace, you might want to bypass the detour. Just head on out Wood Ave./Cloverdale Road (AL-157) to just about a mile south of the TN line, turn left on Co. Rd. 10, a half mile west to the Trace. I don't know if you get out that way very much, but I do, and that detour has been a real thorn in my side for a LONG time. (To go south you can get on at any of AL-20 or CoRd's 14 or 2. I do highly recommend a stop at Rock Spring, between the 14 and 2 interchanges.) Good to know they're supporting you. Any other impressions about the shop? Do they seem well-established, or fly-by-night? I wondered because I emailed them and got a very odd reply which did not answer my question at all. I'm slightly younger, and had motorcycles in my teens, then off and on until almost 20 years ago. Then I had to act responsible awhile. Now I can blame this on midlife crisis. Did you look at 250's at all? Did they have any in stock? If so, do you know how much they're asking? $2K is a bit high for a Chinese 150, but being B&M and supported might be well worth it. Paula, '03 Burgman 400, just got her last week, having fun.

Hi Paula, Your profile says male. Waz up? Don't know about prices on 250's. I don't think they keep many scoots in stock. They have been in business 5 years, Father and 2 sons. They seem to know what they're doing but there is something strange about the front person. The dad and the mechanic son seem to have more on the ball.
I did pay more, and for a reason. I had ordered out of California and waited 4 weeks only to be told that they couldn't get any. Then tried Nashville (I have a friend who works at a scooter shop there and they were marking up their scooters way over retail. Many other sources I tried had nothing in stock and would only special order. So when I called Bama they had just got two in and one was already sold, and the other was still in the box, so went right over and tried it out. I liked it and the rest is history.
I love the trace and have been from one end to the other over the years, but not yet on my scoot. It would be a nice ride.
Gotta go my wife just got in and time to relax with a nice glass of wine.

Some Burgman folk in Huntsville are starting a "NAS" (North Alabama Scooters) group which will be meeting on third Thursdays, 6PM, at Tenders in Madison, AL on old Hwy-20 (see map at www.tenderschicken.com/MadisonMap.htm , not Google maps.) Next meeting will be 9-18. They will be planning some Saturday rides. None announced, yet. The organizer of this is a Burgman 650 owner, but he says the group is "... open to riders of any make of scooter". I've asked for an email address, will post it here when I have permission to do so. Edit: permission obtained, click here.I definitely cannot make it to the September meeting, but I hope to make it to some of the rides.
