Hey All,
I'm Ginny, live in Denver-ish (Littleton for the locals) and will be getting a Vintage as soon as the tax return comes in. Preferably in Orange.
Looked at several brands and though I like the People, Buddy and Stella, my wallet had a heartattack at the price. $4000 is just a bit more than I can pay. Heck, it's more than any of any cars!!!
I have a Lance dealer about an hour north of me and they like and have the Vintage in stock, though not in Orange. If he can't/won't order an Orange, then it will have to be black. I am very handy with a wrench and do most all the work on my cars. I drive a 1978 Mercedes diesel so I wrench often. Only work I don't do is anything that requires me to be completely under the car. Only time I'm claustraphobic. 5000 pounds above me on jack stands. So owning a Chinese scooter will be like owning my cars.
So, what kinds of things am I looking at doing right away? Oil and gear oil change, spark plug, fuel lines, vacuum lines. Do I need to replace tires right away? And how about the horn, is it loud enough or do I need to find a good airhorn to install? Denver drivers suck. I know this because I'm also a cyclist. Cagers see only themselves on the road. Little universes driving around the roads. Headlights? Are they bright enough or will those need to be rewired for something better?
Lastly, show of hands of scootists in the Denver area?
Scoot On!

Hey welcome. Congratulations on the Vintage. You will love it. I am not from CO but I have many friends that are actually in Littleton and they have a mini scooter gang. Surely you will run into someone. I was out there not long ago visiting. You have a nice town. Happy scootin'!

Hey Ginny, I was gonna get a Lance until I found out I had a SYM dealer in my town and scored a brilliant deal on a new old stock. Mine has been trouble free for the most part for the around 600 km I've owned it and it's great fun! I'll bet with a Lance you won't have to do much wrenching. But check the fuel and vacuum lines as that's the only thing I remember about Lance's. Seems like they're way better quality than most China scoots, but sometimes they get twisted or crimped.
Welcome to the Dawg Pound!

Thanks! I finally got to put the bum on a Vintage today. It's a bit wider in the footrests than I thought it would be but I can sit flat footed and love the handlebars. Can't wait for the tax return!!!!
