Okay, I've ordered a Gericke textile jacket, some kevlar gloves and have either a pair of old Tony Lama snakeskins that have seen more horse than bike or good old Redbird workboots to ride in. This is starting to get expensive. I am really hesitant about chaps though. Any opinions on them? Thanks in advance! On edit, I lost the bid on the jacket and ordered this: Men's Black and Blue Cordura and Leather Jacket. This jacket is fully loaded with features, Made of 100% Cordura Waterproof Fabric and high quality grade leather. The jacket includes a micro fleece lined rolled collar, 3MScotchlite Reflective stripes, full sleeve zip out liner, gel foam padding on front, back and sleeves. It also features zippered cuffs, adjustable waist, zippered vents on front and back elbows. Shoulders and back armor is included. I am currently using a Fieldsheer Mesh jacket with armor pads, and a Olympic mesh pants with pads and armor. They both have zip out liners too. I also have a pair of the "Draggin Jeans" too. Great item for casual day at work. tghe jeans have kevlar patches on all the good spots, plug I put in a pair of knee pads too. Now if you like style and jackets designed more for Scooter riders, especially since they are made in the USA in Oregon, go for the Corazzo jackets. They have pads or body armor built in too. www.corazzo.net/?q=node/112Of course gloves, maybe boots, and a decent helmet are a must have item as well. www.motoliberty.com is good for getting motorcycling stuff, especially if you live locally near one of their stores. But they do sell over the internet as well.

Yes, Motoliberty is great. We have gotten stuff from them too. Great prices and good merchandise. We got 'scooter leather jackets', made by FMC from Shade Tree Powersports in Ohio. No armor but they are heavy leather with zip out liners, vent etc. More of a scooter riders jacket, but pads would have been good. Hot/warm weather we have Tour Master air jackets (two liners, totallly textile, lots of pads, reflection piping). Pricey but a great jacket and real versatile. Alternative to chaps are FMC half chaps. They have zipper and velcro closure and go up over your knees. Kind of like leggings. Protective but comfortable. Tom
