Well, ok, maybe not quite THAT bad, but I'm sure the title got your attention ;D
Parental advisory, this post may contain severe malice and other rants and raves, proceed with caution before reading any further (put the kids to bed, etc). And moderators, I hope this post doesn't cross the line too much, but I have to vent!
I've been sniping at these clowns in other peoples threads, but it's long past time for me to start my own. I said I was going to write a novella, and this comes pretty damn close. I couldn't even place an ORDER with these people, I don't know how some of you managed to crack the code. I don't know if it gives me the right to complain here or not, but I'm going to anyhow.
I've called just about every internet dealer known to man and visited the few 'bike' shops we have in this town trying to pin down what I wanted in a scooter. I pinned my hopes on ATVD for a few reasons, they seemed like decent people (Doug is the person I spoke to first and most often) they actually answered the phone when I called (you'd be surprised how many don't/didn't) and (Doug) seemed to know what was going on. They also had the best price I could find (at the time) online, so I figured I'd go with them. Well you know what they say, sometimes you get what you pay for...
Well, here we are, early June, been looking for/at/ready to buy a scooter since ~late April. I wasted over 4 weeks "dealing" with ATVD and their nonsense, and Brad @ Brad's Scooters, who's an ATVD affiliate. Now, let me make one thing clear, Brad @ Brad's Scooters is a great guy, he knows more about what's going on @ ATVD than THEY do. At no point here am I slamming him at all, this isn't his fault, he tried his best to help. Anyone local to Brad's shop should definitely pay him a visit (cheap plug, but it's the least I can do for all the help he tried to provide me). Unfortunately, every phone call with ATVD was more layers upon layers of nothing but pure 100% American-made BS.
Re: above, it was through Brad's Scooters that I even discovered (for certain) that ATVD carried the MC-54B scooter that I wanted. Doug wasn't sure exactly WHAT they had (B, non-B, Vog? We have those?) etc. I've said this before in other posts and I'll say it again, it's like a who's on first comedy routine, but it's not funny.
I got excuse after excuse, mostly from 2 other clowns @ ATVD called Steve and Patty (or maybe it's Patti, at this point I could care less). I got nonsense such as, oh, we have an order coming in either late this week or early next week, call us then...ok fine. I call, to TRY to place an order. Here's some of the BS I got.
(when I call on a Monday) - oh, we can't help you, all the retail stores are closed on Monday (wha???)
When I say I want this bike, and this color...."Is it on the website" ... huh?? What difference does it make? "well, if it's not on the website, I can't sell it to you" ... ?
When I try to order, I'm ready to give them my credit card # and everything, but oh, we're not sure if we have that bike in stock, and we can't do advanced orders, the "boss" doesn't like it. Ok, so what am I supposed to do then, just keep calling your stupid asses??
Then the coup de grace ... their order comes in, ready to give them credit card info and get this ball rolling..."oh, sorry, those bikes are all spoken for/prepaid"
Ok so let me get this straight, you DON'T take preorders/open orders/advanced orders, but SOMEHOW, SOME WAY, your entire order of bikes is spoken for??? I'm sorry but WTFF!?
What else pisses me off is that I was waiting to place an order from Jafrum for my gear until I actually had an order for a scoot placed. Well, in the meantime, waiting for these idiots, what I wanted went OOS! Kicking myself in the ass for that one, believe me.
All the while these morons are wasting my time, you may have (obviously) noticed, scoot prices went through the roof, everywhere, and ship times have doubled, or worse. I could have had my scoot a long time ago, but now, I, like others, will be lucky to be on the road by July, when I started making phone calls and was ready to order way back in APRIL.
I have placed an order with another company (which for now, will remain nameless. You want a hint? Lets just say their warranty is 10x the warranty ATVD has, and leave it at that). I'll be writing my review for those guys once it gets here. Did I pay more? Yes. Was it worth it? Time will tell, but so far I think so.
I'm going to close here paraphrasing what Andi said about evosales.com: at this time I cannot recommend ATV Discounters.
