I bought an 2003 Silverwing from a guy at work today. Wow. I test road it about two weeks ago but never really got it out on the big roads. Wow again. It cruises on the interstate at 75 mph with ease. I have to admit that its not as comfortable as my 2008 Commuter 250 though. Maybe its because I am just used to the 250. I want to install a radio in the trunk or something. Has anyone done this or have any ideas? ;D

Honda should have a radio option for the silverwing. I believe it may be the same options for the Goldwing.

Speaking of Silverwings, there was a 2008 with 15 miles on it in the paper today. The fellow that bought it new is 65, not that he is old or anything, but he had never ridden a scooter at all and jumped on a new 600 cc, only to have a wreck first thing and he got hurt, also. His daughter had to ride it off the lot at the Honda dealer. 6000.00 is what he has in the paper, but I think that it might go cheaper since it has cosmetic damage. What a shame! I told him I might trade him my new 250 Bali and he did'nt laugh. By the way, your radio trick was a good idea. I do not like to ride without a radio or MP-3.

I've been looking into this quite seriously as far as the radio side of this post.
I finally got a top box and mounted it up on my S2 250. Went in a couple of inches closer than I wanted, but it will work just fine. My original plan was to mount a couple of 3 inch speakers in the box, but decided against that.
I'm looking at a "marine" AM/FM/CD radio for right close to $100. The radio has a small wired remote. Most likely I will mount the radio under the seat and use the power from the cigarette style receptacle that's there. I don't use it for anything else, so I'll simply hard wire the power in there.
I'm also looking at a set of DWG All Weather Speakers (Thanks earlb for the heads up on those) that run about $125. These will get mounted to the hand rail pointing up and forward placing the sound behind me. This will make a shorter wire run for the speakers.
At speeds of 40 and up, most of the sound is going to get beat out by road noise, but lower, it should work out pretty well. The radio actually has 4 channels so I might also think about setting up a headset in the helmet and simply use the fader when I want the helmet or speakers.
The remote will be mounted in front of the handle bar just ahead of the Brake Fluid container. (See Civilized's post).

pb12mm My Linhai is a '06. I just got about 3 weeks ago. I am loving it so far. The taller windshield really helps with the radio. I have no problems hearing it at 70mph.
okie34 I am sure you will have good luck with your radio mod. However, be sure to lower the output from the radio if you connect it to headphones in your helmet. You will blow your ears and your headphones if you don't reduce the output. Headphones are designed for low wattage. If you are familiar with radios, you will need a RCA line output. If your radio has RCA connections, use them. If not, you can get an adaptor from any electronics store for dropping the wattage of speaker level outputs.

Civilized,
I haven't looked recently, but IIRC the radio uses the RCA jacks. It was either that or straight bare wire clamps. On that note, I also believe it had a mini-plug headphone jack as well.
Anyway, utilizing the fader will allow me to adjust the volume as I move from front to back depending on the setup. Or.... if there is a headphone jack, then it's a real simlpe hook-up.
I've helped a couple of buddies wire these into hot tubs and they aren't bad radios. Certainly not top of the line Alpine or Sony, but they work well in the applications we've placed them in.

Hi Okie, I am not familiar with the IIRC, but it sounds like you have it under control. You'll be jammin' in no time!

@civilized
I see a picture of your linhai 300 and I like the cover you have for your triple tree. Is this stock? If not where can I get it? I'd like to put it on my aeolus 260, as I have removed the plastics from my handlebars and have a BIG hole leading to my glove box.
Thanks!

I have installed a GPS on my BMS TBX260, great thing, only con is, it really is too low to see it. I can hear it below 40MPH, but above the wind is too noisy. I also have to nosedive to read the thing, which is not very good when you're driving (no eyes on the road).
A windshield is a great speaker amplifier and directer. Install speakers on top of the dash, away from you, so they can reflect their sound on the windshield. When the sound reflects back to you, it'll sound clear and crisp!

I have a radio from the factory in my elite 250and it is made by Kenwood specially for Honda. This upgrade had a price also! $900. It has 2 speakers built in the fairing, antenna and the main unit locked inside the glove box.
