This forum is amazingly packed with knowledge but there isnt really a single thread that addresses the must do things and the must have items. Like changing the oil asap or keeping a spare belt, or the preferred spark plug, or valve stem replacement etc. The information is very spread out and should be condensed and maybe even stickied and it could include links and pictures. Kinda like a one stop must read information thread. And it would hopefully answer some of the million questions a newbie like me has so we don't have to pester you with minor questions that the search feature doesn't help with. Maybe we can use this thread as a stepping point. Thank you

Sure there is, there are plenty of threads like that if you look in the right place. The biggest mistake people make when they come here is they focus on a particular topic, instead of reading all the tips.
Go to the Tips and Tricks, or the How To sections and you'll get all the info you need!
You can also click the link in my signature for a PDI tutorial...

wouldnt 1 quick and dirty thread be better then an entire forum tho for quick reference? No such thing, actually, that's what this forum is! There are probably a hundred different things that would need to be incorporated into it, and then a hundred different types of scoots... If you use the search feature, you'll get answers quick and easy, I do. Most of my replies are to duplicate threads from people who don't look for what they need, so they ask, it's easier, and then people like me (and many others) do. You'll notice that only newbies do this... once they're acclimated to the site, they find things on their own. -Rich

Must Have: Time, Patience, Limited Mechanical Skills, an Interest to Learn, Good Set of Socket Wrenches (and misc. tools) Must Do: Full PDI (no matter what shape it says it will come in); regular maintenance as instructed throughout the forum; Self-Education ("Give a Man a Fish, Feed Him for a Day...")

Besides, if you read thru a few back pages of posts at a time you will find lots of info and you could copy (or print) a bunch of stuff and have your own file system. Art

Art True - I've been bookmarking a lot of items I think or know I'll need as I find them. Comes in very handy when you need to access something for reference.

The main point to my way of thinking is which scoot you own. It's really different depending. You can't make a general thread as it won't apply to all of em, although Rich's PDI article is a fantastic starting point. The tips and tricks topic has a ton of useful info.
