Hello I have been riding and doing basic repairs to motorcycles for many years. My wife finally got the bug for I scooter, because of gas prices and seeing a few around town. I still see very few scooters in this area, but they seem to be selling fast. I found a local, very small dealer that let me take a ride on a demo-scoot and it was great fun. Next I tried to learn as much as possible by reading a few thousand posts on this forum.
The scooter I ended up with is a “make-JCL model-MP150-A”. I haven’t read anything about this particular make of scooter but it looks very similar to the “Roadrunner Race 150”. If anyone is familiar with this model your opinions are welcome. I did pay a little bit of a premium price compared to getting one from the Internet shipped to the house. The advantage was I got to test the machine before I took it home. Also the dealer does do repairs and did seem knowledgeable about the scooter. The ignition switch did fall out on the ride home, poor assembly from the factory, but it was an easy fix.
The scariest part is teaching my wife to drive the thing, we are both older. I am glad I didn’t go with anything bigger as it did get away from her one time, luckily she didn’t take a spill.
So far so good with the new scoot.

Welcome aboard, Dancinci. I'm sure you will find lots of help and support on this board. I have learned a lot from reading the posts and am learning something everytime I'm here. I am not familiar with your scoot but if it's the same as this bike charlotte.craigslist.org/mcy/680612794.html, it's similar to several others that have been posted around the forum. I have found that a lot of the Chinese bikes are similar, made by the same companies but with different names, etc. Mine is a 150cc retro scooter www.bestscooterstore.com/product/product_detail/cat/1/id/MC150SC-6, screamin' red and I love it. I hope your wife gets comfortable driving because it is so much fun. If she reads the postings here and asks questions, she will learn so much that will help her enjoy her scoot more. I also encourage the MSF course which will help with her confidence level and will also get her that much needed Motorcycle endorsement for her license. As for being "older", I know there are a several (a lot?) of us here that are in the "over 50 group", if you call that older. I think being older might make us more cautious but it doesn't keep us from learning or enjoying new things in life. Besides, it shakes up the "younger" kids when they see an old lady like me scootin' around town and having a ball. It makes them realize that life DOES NOT limit you after you reach that magic 50 mark. Good luck, post pics and let us know how things progress.
