Please don't ride your moped on the freeway. If you can't go freeway speeds, stay the heck off of the freeways. Even worse do not ride on the freeway at 2:00am on the freeway on the weekend either. That is when all the drunks are out as they close all the bars at 2:00 am around here in Texas. Drivers are stupid, they assume everyone is going 70mph, but if you are tooling along at 25mph, you are going to get hit, even in broad daylight.
Man on moped killed in I-30 wreck in Dallas BY BILL MILLER wmiller@star-telegram.com
An unidentified man died early Monday after the moped he was driving was struck by a sport utility vehicle on Interstate 30 near Fair Park in Dallas, according to reports.
The driver of the SUV, whose name was not immediately available, was arrested for intoxication manslaughter, said Kim Leach, spokeswoman for the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.
The accident was reported at 2 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-30 near the intersection with 1st Avenue, Leach said.
Deputies who investigated the wreck said they did not believe the moped was licensed to be on the interstate, Leach said.
The man was taken to Baylor Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Leach said.
He had not yet been identified early Monday, said a spokeswoman for the Dallas County medical examiner's office.
Check back for more details.

90GTVert, I think your Vento is a cute little moped! (LOL)
I am sorry someone lost their life in the incident but it sure wasn't a wise move on the rider's part. We all take chances at times but some of those chances come back to bite us.

Actually it really was a moped, a old Motobecane of all things. The rider was 65yoa too, and the moped had up to date registration and license plate. there was a followup on it later in the newspaper.

Well, I'll be... don't see many actual mopeds anymore so I just assumed. I'm sorry the fellow lost his life, but the things got pedals on it... I've never been on my bicycle and thought I could keep up with interstate traffic. Around here you cannot even ride the shoulder on a 49cc if the speed limit is above 50mph.
