Hello, everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. I live in San Diego, Ca and this is my first ever scooter and love it. Picked it up today and passed my written test at DMV. I have been riding dirt bikes all my life and should have no problems adapting to pavement riding soon! The primary reason I got a scooter was to save $$ on gas. I just restored my 1988 BMW M5, with a really modified engine. I'm averaging 12 MPG and it really hurts every time I visit the gas station. When I first bought the car in 1987, gas was a lot cheaper. I went from more than 300 HP to about 20HP but loving it! I went to get gas down the street and didn't come home for at least 2 hours! I can't believe how liberating it feels to ride a scooter.
I would like to upgrade my headlights and fog lights to PIAA extreme white bulbs to match the white/blue LED ring around the high beam. The bulbs look smaller than H4 bulbs I have seen in most scooters by SYM. I think they are H7's but not sure without pulling them out. Does anyone know what type of headlight and fog bulb the Rv-250 uses? Thanks

Congrats on the new scooter! I've just ordered out for a Linhai and I can't wait for it to get in. I was totaling around 20 mpg (on a good day), so I'm also looking forward to the great savings. How does your scoot handle the city roads?

How does your scoot handle the city roads? Contrary to popular belief, San Diego does not have the best city streets! I think Detroit, where I live for a few years had better. I was surprised how well it soaked up bumps and minor potholes. I'm very happy with the scooter and it has enough power ( or less) to keep me out of trouble. I have been stopped by several people in town wanting details about the scooter since everyon here is feeling the gas disaster. I do feel a little alienated since the RV does not look like a typical "retro" sccoter but it is also not a sport bike (which I think it looks like!) I was going to join a local scooter club but no one has an RV......just Vespas and Linhais .

It looks like a sports bike to me as well!...with a bit of the classic/retro look. Is it as comfortable as it looks? I've had several co-workers who are looking into getting scooters as well. Although I ordered a Linhai, I'll probably replace it with something a bit faster and more reliable before the end of the year. So what do you use to lock down your scooter when parked?

Just took it out on the freeway today...let's just say it can go faster than 80MPH! I didn't have it there long since the engine is still breaking in. Ride is very comfortable.....better than I expected but since it's my first scooter I have nothing to compare to. I did lots of research before deciding on the SYM. There was a similarly priced Yamaha Majesty but after dealer fees the scooter was more than $1,000.00 more with only a year warranty. True it had more power but that was not my concern. The Sym has a very reliable track record and has a two year warranty. The dealer sold it to me for $5,035.00 including all tax and DMV fees, plus he threw in 2 helmets free! I never expected to pay this much for a scooter but I have been told you get what you pay for. I really considered some of the Chinese bikes costing thousands less but couldn't find any shops here willing to work on them. There are two SYM dealers here w/ full service. Right now I'm using a disc lock but looking into a self powered remote alarm system like a car.
