I sure am glad I found this site. It's making the idea of owning/maintaining a Chinese scooter sit a little easier with me now.
My wife has been wanting a "pink scooter" for as long as I can remember. Now that she's finished grad-school, and we're still planning on being "pre-kids" for another couple years, this seems like the best time to get one. From her online browsing, she wants a Lance Vintage. From what I can find, Lance is a pretty-good brand (as far as Chinese scooters go). For myself, I'm looking at the GS-R, the Interceptor, and the Duke Touring 150. The GS-R is in the lead as of now.
I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and have done plenty of work on trucks, cars, and my jetskis... none of which are Chinese though. This site will definately be a great resource. I'm not looking to modify or up-power them, just keep them running as smooth and reliable as possible.
We live in the Joliet, IL area - SW of Chicago. The Lance website says there is a dealer about 40 minutes south of us, but they don't answer their phone or respond to email. I'm going to make the drive on Saturday to see if they exist (Acme Motorspors, Dwight, IL). I am comfortable buying online, but kind-of wanted to go sit on one to see how it fits. I'm 6'4" 195lbs, my wife is 6'1" 145, so we're both pretty tall & thin. Right now, I was looking to buy from scootersarecool.com. If I can't find a lance dealer, I suppose I will try to find another Chinese brand that is similar (aren't they all pretty-much the same?) in models and see how they fit first.
Look forward to learning more!
Mike

Welcome to the pound. Lance is a good make of China bike. We have two including a GSR that my wife just loves. You can go to ScootersFactory.com (the importer of Lance) and see if you can find a distributor near you. Good luck in your search. By the way Viva, Fly and Bandit are all made by the same group as Lance: Znen. You may find one of those close to you as well. Tom
