Hello... I'm a 26-year-old girl in Arkansas. I do not currently HAVE a scooter. I will be buying one, once I save up the money and decide what I want (so I'm looking at maybe another two months or so). However, my car is kind of nearing the end of its useful life, and a hailstorm destroyed the back windshield a few weeks ago, so I had the idea: why buy another car with all the hassles it entails (not the least of which are that it would still cost probably around $40 per fill-up, and I doubt that will go down much anytime soon), when I could get a scooter? So I'm looking for places online to get information and tips and such, and I like this community. It seems nice, and very informative. Plus, I doubt anyone I know offline would share my enthusiasm. I'm really excited! -Danaƫ

Welcome, Dionada! I would advise that if you do purchase a scoot, you either keep the car and fix it up a little, or find a cheap used car that will get you around. Scoots are nice and easy on gas, but are not well suited for cold or inclinate weather. Please read through the threads here. Lot's of things to consider.

Yeah, I was thinking I'd probably keep my car to use in bad weather and once a week when I do laundry and shopping. I have found lots of informative threads here. Thanks for the advice!

Welcome to the pound. In the sponsors section from the homepage go to Scooter World Magazine link. There you will find info on the book they publish about scooters for iditots. It is really a beginners book. You should get this book and read it. It will be a wonderful resource for you and you will learn a lot of practical info. Good luck in your search. Tom

I was just thinking earlier, "do they have a Scooters for Dummies book?"
