I am a BRAND NEW member.. I haven't purchased my Scooter yet, but am looking around at all my options.. I have decided that I am going to go with the Chinese scooters, as I have allot of mechanic experience, I worked at a local Lincoln/Mercury dealership for a while, as well as restored cars for years with my Grandfather.. My wife also is good at it, again with cars, She bought me a 1966 Impala one year for christmas, did all the engine and body work herself.. What a gal.. Anyway, I am trying to decide between the Roadrunner Touring 250cc and the Tank Touring 250cc.. Again, Tinkering is no big thing to me. I am ready for that. I used to have a 79 Honda CB250 and my wife had a 81 KZ750. Those needed work all the time. Also, a friend had a 79 BMW that was always needing something done.. It spent more time on the workbench than on the road I think.. haha... ANyway, I also want to add that I am in Columbus Ohio, and wondering if any other "DawgPound" members are in the area... Thanks...

Welcome Jim! There have been good and bad reports on both scoots you mentioned. Sounds like any issues you can handle though. Take a long read through the 250 board and see what others have said about them and machines like them.

Welcome to the pound Jim, I would look at the Fly, Bandit, Viva and Lance 250s in my search. They are all Znen bikes and have a good rep and record here on the boards. Znen bikes generally are a cut above most of the others as far as reliability, quality and performance in China bikes. I personally recommend you look at Lance for sure. Good luck, Tom

jimkdaadtman welcome to the pound! I think you should have no problem with any of the Chinese made scooters. You should be able to deal with any issues that crop up with no anxiety at all!
Read through the posts on any of the models you are interested in, just about anything you can think of will be addressed somewhere! You will notice that no matter what the scooter is like upon arrival, it is extremely rare that it can't be fixed and tuned into a pretty decent means of transportation... albeit on some occasions it has taken more effort for some than others.
There is a new model out that seems to be attracting a lot of attention, the VOG which is a little larger displacement. The reviews I have seen tend to verify that the general build quality of these is significantly better than some of the more 'established' models on the market. Don't know if the price difference would make any significant impact on a buying decision, but thought it worth mentioning! ;D

Thanks everyone, I have to admit the price is going to be the MAIN factor in my final decision.. That and seat height.. My wife is 5'4 and will need to reach the ground.. Anyway, I now found a Roketa MC-54-250 for $1888 delivered, which has my intrigued.. I like it.. has anyone had one for more than 3000 miles? if so, hows it doing.. for most people 3000 miles takes a couple years to reach. On my work van it took me 3 weeks. I probably should mention I also am an Alarm technician, for over 13 years, and worked at Radio Shack before that(back when it was Geek shack).. SO I am well trained in low voltage electrical wiring, and will upgrade my battery to a 17.2AH as soon as I get it out of the crate.. (replace a few fuses, and some wiring and connectors too).. Anyway, I would be VERY interested in the SUNL 250 SC-10 for $1499 if anyone can tell me what the seat height is... OF course, this purchase wont happen till I get my tax refund checks(yes checks, I didn't file for 05 and 06 either and waited until April 15 to do all 3 years).. So anyway, I need to keep the price down to a minimum like I said, but willing to pay a bit more for lower seat height and better quality.. Not too concerned with that though, like rerun said, nothing too much happens that can't be fixed.. )
