Sunday, March 2nd, we met as usual at CC's cafe on Esplanade Ave. Sat and chatted a while and drank some New Orleans coffee.
We looked at my homemade camera mount and figured out it wouldn't work, so since Joe is in the movie industry and used to rigging up stuff, we came up with a new plan for the camera that worked like a charm. Of course, I don't recommend anyone taking pictures while they ride, but it was actually pretty easy.
We decided to take a Lakefront drive today, so off we went up the avenue... Notice the UFO following us
It got REALLY windy at the Lakefront and we made our first pit stop out by the airport. In the background is where the casino used to be before the storm...
Of course a pic with the guys in it:
Then we headed back west following the Lakefront:
We stopped at a local cafe and had some coffee and lunch, then back on the road again. Here, we are passing by the University of New Orleans on the right:
Heading out to into the lake toward the jeddy:
Head on with the guys:
A great day for sailing!
Heading back, you can still see the debris on the right side of the road:
On the way back. We hit Canal blvd and started heading back toward the city:
Some of the big oak trees on Canal. On the left you can see that the street cars are running again:
Now turning into Canal st, and into the city:
Downtown New Orleans:
After I split off, I decided to take a different route home, so I followed Canal all the way to the Mississippi river and took the ferry over:
Coming in to the dock on the other side, Algiers:
Riding with some new folks I met on the ferry in historic downtown Algiers. I gave them a brochure and hopefully they'll come and join up on the site:
And finally, back to the real world...
